For New York residents looking to escape the intensity of city and suburban life and truly get 'back to nature,'
The defining feature of this unique campsite is its natural environment. A picturesque mountain stream meanders through the property, culminating in two stunning waterfalls that are accessible to campers—an incredible highlight for any New Yorker seeking the beauty of the state’s natural cascades. It’s an ideal spot for taking a refreshing dip on a hot day or simply enjoying the peaceful sounds of running water.
Campers consistently report a warm greeting from the on-site management and appreciate the quiet, respectful atmosphere of the park. While offering a 'back to nature' experience, the grounds still provide necessary facilities, including conveniently placed and consistently clean bathrooms. However, transparency is key: prospective visitors should be aware that the facility operates on a cash-only basis and is a true unplugged escape, as phone service and Wi-Fi can be unreliable, encouraging a genuine digital detox.
Operating seasonally from approximately May 15th to October 1st, Waterfalls Campsite is a popular destination for both tent campers and those with RVs, drawing those who prioritize a quiet, friendly, and natural setting over modern resort-style conveniences.
Waterfalls Campsite is nestled in the beautiful Schoharie Valley, offering a tranquil setting while remaining conveniently close to essential services and attractions in Upstate New York.
Waterfalls Campsite offers a range of basic and essential services to ensure a comfortable stay for its guests, focusing on a straightforward camping experience:

Waterfalls Campsite is ideally suited for New York residents, especially those who prefer a genuine, no-frills camping experience centered on natural beauty and tranquility. For locals seeking a budget-conscious escape, the transparent, affordable rates—$30 per night for a basic site with a family of four—offer exceptional value compared to many of the state’s resort-style parks.
Its location in the Schoharie Valley, while a drive from the metro area, places it perfectly for exploring a less-traveled, yet equally stunning, corner of Upstate New York. The unique inclusion of two natural waterfalls directly on the property is a major draw, offering an amenity few other private campgrounds can boast. The quiet, respectful atmosphere, upheld by the simple but strictly enforced rules, ensures that the purpose of the trip—relaxation and connection with nature—is not disturbed. For the New Yorker ready to trade their debit card for a handful of cash, their cell phone for a fishing rod, and the city noise for the sound of a cascade, Waterfalls Campsite is a highly recommended retreat.

Wanted to add this fact, I noticed when finding this camp it's saying different prices offered through travel sites. These prices are not accurate at all. For a tent site it costs $30 a night for 4 people and they do allow small dogs. Each additional head is $5. A full week at a basic site is $180, month is $550, with electric and water it's $35 a night or $210 a week. They are a cash only facility, so do NOT go with credit and debit cards. Absolutely amazing, quiet experience. The person on site greeted me warmly, very friendly. Bathrooms are conveniently placed around the park, and also the bathrooms were very clean and neat. Roads are cleared of debris, if you have a low vehicle there are a few speed bumps on entrance which can Definitely catch ya off guard, and a few ruts and divots in the grounds but nothing serious, just pay attention if you have a low vehicle. The Camp it self is very quiet, everyone was very respectful, the rules of the park are simple and easy, basically don't be a slob, don't be disruptive, and respect the surroundings. Will definitely be returning frequently this year.
Jun 29, 2022 · BOTB Gaming and More!It is a pretty campground, but it had no place for trash, they said they had wifi but it didn't work most of the time and no phone service!! They said they had seasonal rates but when we got there they said they didn't and charged us full price and we talked to people who paid seasonal rates. Then they sprang an electric bill on us when she told us we were paid in full! My daughter and her boyfriend came to stay for 2 nights with us and they charged her 40$ when it was suppose to be 5$ per person. Even though they stayed in our camper. And we also took in two more campers and they did that to us!! We won't be going back or giving any recommendations!
