Webb Creek Campground About

For those of us in Missouri who appreciate a beautiful lake setting combined with comfortable amenities, Webb Creek Campground near Piedmont, Missouri, offers an inviting and serene escape. Nestled in a forested area on a hill overlooking a cove of the stunning Clearwater Lake, this campground provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing outdoor adventure right in our home state. It's a place where the calm waters invite you to unwind and the quiet atmosphere allows for true rejuvenation.

Webb Creek Campground is known for its peaceful environment and well-maintained facilities, making it a favorite for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. While it's an older park, which gives it a charming, established feel, efforts are clearly made to keep it clean and accommodating, as noted by appreciative campers. The blend of tranquil lake views with accessible amenities ensures a comfortable stay, whether you're in a tent, trailer, or even a Class A motorhome, though some sites might present a slight challenge for the largest rigs due to the hilly terrain.

More than just a place to set up camp, Webb Creek offers a gateway to the diverse recreational opportunities of Clearwater Lake. From boating and fishing to swimming and simply enjoying the quietude, this campground provides an ideal base for exploring the picturesque Ozark hills and making cherished memories. For Missourians seeking a clean, quiet, and relaxing lakeside retreat, Webb Creek Campground stands out as a highly recommended destination.

Webb Creek Campground is located in the beautiful southeastern region of Missouri, near Piedmont. The address provided is 45XR+QP, Piedmont, MO 63638, USA, which is a Plus Code indicating a precise geographic location. More practically, it's situated on a wooded hillside next to a cove of Clearwater Lake.

To reach Webb Creek Campground, you'll typically approach from Piedmont. From Ellington, MO, for instance, you would travel south on US 21 for 2.6 miles to Highway H, then turn left on Highway H and go about 10 miles until you reach the campground. This route, while scenic, involves traveling on state highways that lead into the more rural areas of the Ozarks.

While the campground is relatively accessible, it's important to be aware of the terrain within the park. Reviews mention that the sites can be "a little hilly" and "not very level," which is common for campgrounds in the Ozark hills. Some larger RVs, particularly Class A motorhomes, might find certain spots "very tight" for maneuvering. However, most vehicles, including RVs up to 30-40 feet, can be accommodated. As is typical for areas within national forests, cell phone service can be poor or spotty at Webb Creek Campground. It’s always a good idea to download offline maps for navigation and to complete any online reservations or communications before arriving in the area to ensure a smooth check-in process. Despite the minor topographical challenges, the serene lakeside setting makes the journey well worth it for many campers.

Webb Creek Campground provides a good range of services and amenities, balancing the natural setting with conveniences for a comfortable camping experience.

  • Campsites: Offers 30 spacious campsites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs (up to 30-40 feet).
  • Electric Hookups: 24 sites feature 30-amp electric hookups, catering to RVs and campers needing power. There are also 6 standard (non-hookup) sites available.
  • Paved Parking Spurs: Each site includes a paved parking spur for vehicles, adding to the convenience.
  • Picnic Tables: Every campsite is equipped with a picnic table for outdoor dining.
  • Fire Rings and Grills: Designated fire rings with grills are available at each site, perfect for campfires and cooking.
  • Drinking Water: Access to potable drinking water is provided throughout the campground.
  • Restrooms: Facilities include both vault toilets and flush toilets for varied comfort levels.
  • Hot-Water Showers: Appreciated by campers, hot-water showers are available, contributing significantly to comfort after a day of activities. Reviews indicate these facilities are generally kept clean, though maintenance can vary depending on the camp host.
  • Playground: A playground area is available, making it suitable for families with children.
  • Trash Collection: Convenient trash collection services are provided via dumpsters.
  • Dump Station: An RV dump station is available for waste disposal, though occasional maintenance issues (like a cone over it indicating it's out of order) might occur, so it's good to be prepared.
  • Marina and Boat Ramp Nearby: Direct access to a marina and a boat ramp on Clearwater Lake is available, ideal for water activities.

The presence of both electric sites and hot showers, alongside recreational facilities, makes Webb Creek a more equipped campground compared to primitive sites, enhancing its appeal for a broader range of campers.

Webb Creek Campground distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that make it a desirable destination for campers in Missouri.

  • Clearwater Lake Access: Its prime location on a cove of Clearwater Lake offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and other water sports. The lake is fed by the Black River and is known for its unspoiled shorelines.
  • Clean and Quiet Environment: Consistently praised by reviewers for its clean facilities and peaceful atmosphere, allowing for a truly relaxing camping experience. The quiet nature is a significant draw for those seeking an escape from noise.
  • Accommodating Camp Hosts and Rangers: Reviewers have specifically highlighted the helpfulness and accommodation of camp hosts (like "Mat" and "Mark") and Rangers, who contribute to a positive visitor experience by keeping facilities clean and being knowledgeable about the area.
  • Well-Maintained Facilities: The presence of clean flush toilets and hot showers is a significant amenity, providing comfort that is often lacking in more primitive campgrounds.
  • Spacious Sites with Amenities: Campsites are described as spacious, each featuring a paved parking spur, picnic table, fire ring, and grill, offering convenience for meal preparation and outdoor living.
  • Scenic Forested Setting: The campground is located on a wooded hillside, providing a beautiful natural backdrop and a sense of being immersed in the Ozark forest.
  • Diverse Recreation Opportunities: Beyond lake activities, the area offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing, including wetland waterfowl, fox, deer, and geese.
  • Nearby Attractions: Visitors can easily access local points of interest such as Klepzig Mill, Blue Spring, Reed Spring, Rocky Falls (part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways), and Peck Ranch Wildlife Reserve for elk viewing. A drive-in movie theater is also nearby for a fun outing.

These features collectively contribute to Webb Creek Campground being a well-rounded and appealing choice for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.

As a campground operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and part of Recreation.gov, Webb Creek Campground typically does not offer traditional commercial "promotions" in the way a private business might. However, there are aspects that contribute to its value and potential savings for campers:

  • Affordable Fees: Camping fees at Corps of Engineers campgrounds are generally very reasonable, providing excellent value for access to well-maintained facilities and prime lakeside locations. Fees vary depending on whether the site is electric or non-electric, but they remain a cost-effective option for outdoor recreation.
  • Federal Recreational Passes: Holders of valid federal recreational passes, such as the America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass (including Senior and Access Passes), are often eligible for discounts on camping fees, typically 50% off the standard rate at federally managed campgrounds. This can represent significant savings for eligible individuals.
  • Seasonal Availability: While Webb Creek is listed as year-round on some platforms, the main season for full services typically runs from May 15 to September 15. During the off-season, certain amenities might be reduced, but camping may still be available, sometimes at a reduced rate or on a first-come, first-served basis, offering a quieter experience.
  • Online Reservation Convenience: The ability to make reservations through Recreation.gov allows campers to secure their desired site in advance, which, while not a "discount," provides peace of mind and prevents last-minute scrambling, especially during peak times.

For the most accurate and current information on fees, availability, and any specific policies or discounts, it is always recommended to check the official Recreation.gov website for Webb Creek Campground or contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers office for Clearwater Lake directly.

This was a nice quiet park, our group stayed in sites 34, 35 and 36. The camp host Mat was most accommodating as were the Rangers. Clean facilities, only draw back would be the sites were not very level but then it is an older park and not originally set up for Class A motorhomes, yes we hope to return 😊.
