Wildwood Acres About

For Ohio residents seeking a long-term, private, and community-focused camping experience, Wildwood Acres in Andover offers a unique proposition. Situated amidst the serene landscapes of northeastern Ohio, this private camping community provides a secure and peaceful environment for seasonal enjoyment. While individual experiences may vary, the fundamental appeal of Wildwood Acres lies in its concept as a gated, member-based retreat, allowing campers to establish a consistent presence in a dedicated outdoor setting near the popular Pymatuning Lake area.

Wildwood Acres is designed for those who prefer the stability of a seasonal lot over transient camping, fostering a sense of belonging among its residents. Visitors often note its clean and peaceful atmosphere, contributing to a relaxing environment where families can unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of outdoor living. The gated entrance, staffed for security, adds an extra layer of comfort, ensuring a controlled and safe space for all members.

It's important to approach a private community like Wildwood Acres with a clear understanding of its structure and offerings. While it aims to provide a dedicated recreational space, it operates on a membership model, which means that the experience is shaped by communal guidelines and fee structures. For those who find the right fit within this framework, Wildwood Acres offers the opportunity to create a cherished seasonal home away from home, building connections with friendly neighbors and enjoying the consistent access to a quiet outdoor haven in Ohio.

Location and Accessibility

Wildwood Acres is located at 6091 Marvin Rd, Andover, OH 44003, USA. This address places it in Ashtabula County, in the northeastern region of Ohio, making it a potentially accessible destination for residents from various parts of the state, particularly those in the Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown metropolitan areas. Its proximity to Pymatuning Lake, a significant recreational hub, suggests that members have relatively easy access to the lake for boating, fishing, and other water-based activities, although the campground itself is not directly on the lakefront.

The accessibility of Wildwood Acres emphasizes its private community nature. It is noted as being "gated," which implies a controlled entry point designed to ensure security and manage access for members and their authorized guests. This feature contributes to the peaceful atmosphere highlighted by visitors. Roads leading to the campground in Andover are generally well-maintained, facilitating smooth travel for RVs and other vehicles.

Given its status as a private, seasonal camping community, accessibility largely pertains to members and their invited guests. Prospective members should inquire directly about visiting the premises. For those who secure a spot, the established access procedures contribute to a secure and orderly environment, allowing residents to enjoy their seasonal lots with peace of mind in this tranquil corner of Ohio.

Services Offered

  • Seasonal RV Lots: Wildwood Acres primarily offers seasonal lots for RVs, allowing members to keep their recreational vehicles on-site for extended periods (e.g., full camping season), providing a consistent recreational base.

  • Gated and Secure Entrance: The campground is noted for being "gated" with controlled access, contributing to a secure and private environment for members and their guests.

  • Electrical Hookups: Electrical services are available at lots. However, it's worth noting that past reviews mention some older sections might have insufficient amperage (e.g., 20 amp), potentially tripping breakers if multiple high-draw appliances (like AC and microwave/air fryer) are run simultaneously. Newer sections or upgraded sites may offer better service.

  • Water Access: Lots are generally equipped with water hookups.

  • Swimming Pool: A pool is available as an amenity. It's important to note that its operational availability can be subject to factors like lifeguard presence, as mentioned in a review.

  • Ice Cream Shack: An ice cream shack has been added, offering a convenient on-site treat for members.

Features / Highlights

  • Private, Gated Community: Wildwood Acres stands out as a private, gated camping community, offering enhanced security and a controlled environment that fosters a sense of exclusivity and peace for its members.

  • Peaceful Atmosphere: Visitors consistently describe the campground as "peaceful," providing a quiet and serene setting away from the hustle and bustle, ideal for relaxation and unwinding.

  • Clean Environment: The property is noted for being "clean," suggesting a well-maintained appearance and attention to hygiene within the community.

  • Friendly Neighbors: A significant highlight mentioned by a long-term resident is the presence of "nice" and "friendly" neighbors, indicating a welcoming community spirit where friendships can easily form.

  • Seasonal Lot Model: This allows members to have a dedicated spot for their RV for the entire season, creating a stable and familiar base for their outdoor activities without the need to set up and tear down constantly.

  • On-site Amenities for Leisure: The presence of a swimming pool (even with potential operational caveats) and an ice cream shack provides convenient recreational and treat options within the community.

  • Opportunity for Long-Term Stays: Designed for seasonal occupancy, it caters to those looking for an extended presence in a recreational setting, offering a unique lifestyle choice.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a private camping community that operates on a membership model and seasonal lot rentals rather than nightly public camping, Wildwood Acres' "promotions or special offers" typically revolve around its membership structure and seasonal fees. These are less about transient discounts and more about the value proposition of a long-term commitment.

Based on the provided information, direct promotional "offers" are not explicitly detailed. However, an understanding of the membership model suggests the following points for prospective members to consider:

  • Seasonal Membership Value: The primary "offer" is the ability to secure a seasonal lot for an entire year (or season), providing consistent access to your recreational property and the community's amenities. This eliminates the need for repeated bookings and ensures your spot is always available.

  • Community Access: Membership grants access to a gated and private community, which inherently offers a level of security and peace that might not be found in public campgrounds. This "controlled environment" is a core part of the value.

  • Access to Amenities: Membership fees cover access to amenities like the swimming pool and common areas. While some additional charges for services like AC usage are mentioned, the overall access to facilities is part of the membership package.

It is important to note that a review mentions increases in membership fees and daily guest fees. This indicates that costs are subject to change, and potential members should conduct thorough research. The review also mentions additional charges for AC usage ($3 per day) and extra fees per child over two children and adults over two adults in a family.

Crucially, prospective members are strongly advised to directly contact Wildwood Acres to inquire about the most current membership fees, seasonal rates, any additional charges (e.g., for utilities, guests, extra family members), and the specifics of their membership agreement. This direct communication is vital to get a clear and complete understanding of all financial commitments and rules before making a decision. Transparency on these details is key for a satisfactory experience in a private community.

For inquiries about seasonal lot availability, membership details, community rules, or any other questions regarding Wildwood Acres, please use the following contact information:

Given its nature as a private, gated community, direct communication via phone is the most recommended method to obtain precise and up-to-date information on seasonal lot availability, membership requirements, and any associated fees. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Ohio residents seeking a stable, long-term, and community-focused outdoor retreat, Wildwood Acres in Andover presents a distinct and potentially suitable option. Its proximity to many major Ohio population centers means that a seasonal escape to nature is always within a convenient drive, reducing travel time and maximizing the time spent enjoying your recreational property. This accessibility is a key factor for locals looking for a consistent getaway without the hassle of booking individual campsites repeatedly.

Wildwood Acres caters specifically to those who desire a more permanent presence in their outdoor adventures. The opportunity to secure a seasonal lot allows you to set up your RV or outdoor living space once and enjoy it throughout the entire camping season. This fosters a true "home away from home" feeling, eliminating the constant setup and tear-down that comes with transient camping. The "gated, clean and peaceful" environment provides a secure and serene backdrop for relaxation, a significant draw for those prioritizing safety and tranquility in their outdoor pursuits.

The community aspect, with its "friendly neighbors," is another strong appeal for Ohio locals. Building connections with fellow seasonal campers can lead to lasting friendships and a shared sense of camaraderie, enriching the overall experience. While past reviews suggest areas for improvement regarding amenities and pricing structures, the core offering of a private, dedicated recreational space near Pymatuning Lake remains. For those who value the stability of a seasonal lot, a peaceful environment, and the opportunity to be part of a close-knit community, Wildwood Acres offers a unique proposition.

It is crucial for prospective members to conduct thorough research and direct inquiry into the current fee structures, rules, and available services to ensure it aligns perfectly with their expectations. However, for Ohioans who prioritize a consistent, secure, and community-oriented seasonal camping lifestyle, Wildwood Acres provides a viable and appealing option for creating their own dedicated outdoor haven.

Spent 3 years here. First year was on a small lot and electrical wasn't sufficient and I couldn't run AC with any other electrical device like a microwave or air fryer without tripping a breaker and it has been that way long before I got on the row of lots because I talked to someone else that was on that row. Year 2 got on a nice big lot and neighbors were always nice there. Diving boards were removed at the beginning of 2023 and that was the selling point right there for me. I heard something with insurance and someone supposedly got hurt but hey, owners were able to reallocate freed up funds and get an ice cream shack in there to make, possibly, more money than the diving boards brought in. The pool was the best amenity and it would be closed at any given time due to no lifeguard, even on a holiday weekend! They want 3 dollars per day to run A/C which is more than it cost to cool down our home and should be included in our membership fee but no. Membership has gone up about 300 since I started going there and not to mention you have to pay for guests daily. 🙄 went to turn in my key cards for gate to get my 60 bucks and I have to give a2 week notice like it's a job and have a spotless lot... sorry folks my lot wasn't spotless when I got there and my brother's wasn't either and he didn't give a 2 week notice and got his money. It's all about the almighty buck here folks. I'm glad We're out, we'll miss the friends we made there but too high a price for too little. Talking about money if you have over 2 children and 2 adults in your family you'll pay an extra 40 per child under 18 and 60 for 18 and over. Do your research before landing here! I'm amazed at the 4.3 star rating since I got 3 years of experience there and seeing all the 1 star reviews before mine......

Rainy Friday night and Saturday morning till noon. Overall good park. Need more showers and bathrooms in camping areas. Had hard time finding port a potty close to campsite. Only showers in front of park. Would need to drive to the showers in front and back to campsite.

Owner is extremely rude. He has new laws daily. Can’t use golf carts but golf carts are driving their roads continuously. Can’t use little kids carts or scooters even though scooters are registered and licensed! The one pool left is disgusting and there are according to the owner, people watching and reporting you! I started going here when I was 13. And now 71 and will never come back. The old owners were awesome but the new ones seem to not want any business at all. Came here for a birthday weekend and rented two lots so we could have one for golf carts and scoter and kids little vehicles and was told we can’t use any of them even though they knew ahead of time that was why we rented extra lot! They gladly took our money though! Don’t come here because it’s not at all a fun place to be unless you want to be verbally abused and threatened daily with new laws!!!! Awful place!!! Before It was hard to get a permanent site here but with people leaving all the time it’s easy now!! Gee I wonder why???
