Services Offered

While Windy Hill Campground is described as a private, non-public facility, based on common offerings for such campgrounds and limited public information, here are typical services one might expect, focusing on what is publicly indicated:

  • Private Campsites: The core offering is private campsites, likely available for seasonal or long-term rental rather than daily public booking. These sites are often described as "large, private campsites."

  • Full Hook-ups: Sites are expected to include full hook-ups, typically offering water, electric (20, 30, and 50 amp service available), and sewer connections for RVs.

  • Pull-through Lots: The campground is noted to offer "huge pull-through lots," which are highly convenient for larger RVs.

  • Community Amenities (Likely): While not explicitly detailed for this specific Port Austin location, similar private/membership campgrounds often provide shared amenities to foster community. These could include a game room, playground, and communal spaces for gatherings, as indicated by a similar campground with a "Windy Hill" name in another state. Given the "welcoming community" review, such shared facilities are highly probable to support social activities.

  • Outdoor Activities (Likely): Based on general campground offerings and reviews mentioning relaxing around a campfire, amenities for outdoor recreation such as fishing opportunities or communal fire pits would be anticipated.

Due to its private nature, a direct inquiry is essential for precise details on services, including any specific facilities like bathhouses, laundry, or store access, as these might be exclusively for members/residents.

Features / Highlights

Windy Hill Campground in Port Austin is characterized by several distinct features that make it a desirable destination, particularly for those seeking a private and community-oriented camping experience in Michigan:

This suggests well-maintained grounds, scenic surroundings, and a sense of exclusivity that contributes to a more peaceful and personal camping experience, away from the typical public crowds.

  • Welcoming Community: Reviews emphasize a "welcoming community," indicating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where guests feel at home and can easily connect with fellow campers. This social aspect is a significant draw for many.

  • Potential for Organized Activities: While general for "Windy Hills Campground" (a common name for campgrounds), the mention of activities like live music, pancake breakfasts, potluck dinners, cornhole tournaments, kids' days, outdoor movie nights, and holiday celebrations suggests a vibrant social calendar that could be mirrored here, contributing to the community feel.

Promotions or Special Offers

Given that Windy Hill Campground in Port Austin is described as a "private campground" and "not open to the public," it's highly likely that traditional "promotions or special offers" as advertised by public campgrounds are not a primary focus. Instead, its value proposition often lies in its exclusive nature and potentially membership-based access or seasonal site rentals.

For Michiganders interested in joining this community, it is essential to contact the campground directly to inquire about:

  • Membership Information: If it operates as a private association or club, there would be details on membership fees, annual dues, and the benefits included with membership (e.g., unlimited access to sites, amenities).

  • Seasonal Site Rental Rates: Many private campgrounds cater to seasonal residents. Inquiring about seasonal rates (e.g., for the entire summer or a specific block of months) would be crucial for those looking for a long-term base in Port Austin.

  • Availability: Due to its private nature, site availability might be limited, and there could be a waiting list for seasonal spots. Direct contact is necessary to understand current openings.

  • Any "Weekend Campsites" with Full Hookups: While generally not open to the public, one piece of information noted "now doing weekend campsites with full hookups," which could indicate limited public access for short stays. It is vital to confirm this directly.

The phone number (989) 473-2778 would be the primary contact point for prospective members or those interested in any potential limited public access. Since the core value is the "welcoming community," the best "promotion" might be the opportunity to become part of a friendly and secure camping environment.

Been coming here since 99. My family was one of the first handful of people to buy a lot. I've spent my summers here since, and now come up with my own husband and children. Quiet, safe, relaxing get away with lots to do in the area if you know where to look and aren't afraid to get a little adventurous.
