YMCA Camp Cristina in Riverview, Florida, stands out as a unique and dedicated outdoor adventure center, specifically designed to offer these invaluable opportunities. This article will provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of YMCA Camp Cristina, highlighting why it's a suitable and highly recommended option for local families seeking more than just a typical camp experience.
YMCA Camp Cristina is not just a place for kids to spend their time; it's an environment crafted to encourage development, exploration, and fun away from the distractions of technology. As one satisfied parent enthusiastically stated, it "Truly is an amazing summer camp program, lots of activities to keep the kids engaged! Love that it is a tech-free camp and kids can play outside and just be kids. Highly recommend, although pricier than most camps, it is worth it!" This sentiment perfectly captures the core philosophy of Camp Cristina: providing a space where children can rediscover the joy of outdoor play, develop crucial social skills, and build self-confidence in a supportive setting.
While some past experiences regarding group camping facilities and communication have raised concerns for a few (highlighting the importance of direct communication for large group bookings), the primary focus and widely praised aspect of Camp Cristina revolve around its core youth programs – particularly its summer camps and after-school activities. The YMCA's commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility shines through in the carefully designed curriculum and diverse range of activities offered. For any Florida family prioritizing active, character-building experiences for their children, Camp Cristina presents a compelling choice worth exploring.

Customer Reviews
Truly is an amazing summer camp program, lots of activities to keep the kids engaged! Love that it is a tech free camp and kids can play outside and just be kids. Highly recommend, although pricier than most camps, it is worth it!
Absolutely horrible communication. Our group camped there recently. Our group was made to feel like we we imposing on them. The bathrooms all were either broken or unusable. The camping facilities have not been taken care of at all. Trash throughout the camp sites. Management communication was extremely poor. Calling us the morning of our scheduled use of the zip line to tell us it was out of order after pushing back our time scheduled twice during the week. Suspicious circumstances at best. Be very wary if you decide to take your youth group here.
My kid loves this camp so much she talks about it almost all the time since she's so excited to go there. She says they have the best activities, like gaga ball, 9 square, zipline, and more. She always likes doing horse camp the best since she says she gets to connect with the horses, ride them, trot, be a helper like walking the horses, putting them back in their stalls, taking off their equipment and just in general bathing, and painting. Other than the horse camp she loves swimming and just hanging out with her friends at camp. She likes it when they do the introduction every day, and all the dancing and chants. Even regular camps are so fun to do since you can do so much also like archery, soccer games, pool, court, trails, and so much more. The counselors are so nice and helpful every day and so much fun. The themed weeks are even cooler. Overall, this camp is so exciting and adventurous for any kid I hope my daughter continues to love it and come back each year.
Horrible communication and very poorly run summer camp. Emailed multiple times, called and left voicemail. Couldn’t be bothered to respond but they did cancel my son’s registration. Showed up to camp with an excited child but they turned us away due to their error and poor communication. Worst part was Megan in the office who had an attitude instead of trying to help solve the problem. Megan couldn’t solve it but miraculously Dave could when it was too late. If you need a reliable camp, do not go here! Staff should be much better to trust your children with them.
My daughter has attended Camp Cristina for the past 4 years. She always has so much fun and exciting new experiences. I love that she’s outdoors and being creative rather than spending the summer on her electronics. She meets a new bestie each week and remains friends after the week is over. The staff is very professional and provide lots of fun for the campers. I feel very safe with leaving my daughter in their care. Can’t recommend Camp Cristina enough.
