For generations of Mainers and visitors alike, the coastal town of York Beach has been synonymous with summer tradition, from the iconic Nubble Lighthouse to the fun of Short Sands Beach. Tucked away on a quiet lane just a short distance from all the action is the York Beach Camper Park, a well-established and highly convenient spot that serves as the ideal basecamp for exploring Maine's beautiful southern coast.
York Beach Camper Park offers a small, intimate, and friendly camping atmosphere that caters to both RV enthusiasts and traditional tent campers. Unlike larger, more resort-style destinations, this park maintains a cozy, no-frills approach, allowing guests to focus on enjoying the ocean breezes, the natural shade of pine and oak trees, and the incredible local attractions right outside their door. It’s the perfect blend of quiet, shaded retreat and urban accessibility, situated just a short walk from the bustling York Town Center and the Atlantic coastline. Operating seasonally, typically from May through October, the park provides an essential lodging option for those who prefer the freedom and affordability of camping while still being in the heart of the coastal action.
Real customers often note the park's key strength: its location. Being able to stroll to the beach, walk to dinner, or grab a famous Goldenrod Kiss without having to deal with the hassle of finding or paying for parking makes this campground an invaluable option for a genuinely relaxed Maine beach vacation.
The York Beach Camper Park boasts a location that is difficult to beat for a Southern Maine coastal camping trip. The park is located at 11 Cappy's Ln, York Beach, ME 03910, USA. While the park itself is nestled in a quiet, wooded setting, its proximity to the town’s main attractions is its greatest asset.
The campground is conveniently situated just a short, easy walk from Short Sands Beach, which is the epicenter of York Beach activity, featuring the famous Goldenrod, arcade games, and local shops. Additionally, it is very close to York's Wild Kingdom, Maine's largest zoo and amusement park. This accessibility means visitors can park their camper or tent and truly immerse themselves in the coastal environment without relying on a vehicle.
Access to the park is straightforward, located off the main roads leading into the York Beach area. For travelers coming up the coast on I-95, the drive from the highway exit is manageable, leading quickly to the coastal region. The park’s central location makes it an excellent jumping-off point for exploring other regional highlights like the picturesque Cape Neddick Lighthouse (Nubble Light) and the numerous quaint shops and eateries along the York coastline. The ease of access, combined with a surprisingly quiet, shaded setting, provides the best of both worlds for local campers seeking a true Maine experience without sacrificing convenience.
York Beach Camper Park focuses on providing the essential, high-quality amenities necessary for a comfortable and enjoyable coastal camping stay, whether you arrive in a large RV or with a simple tent.
The unique draw of York Beach Camper Park lies in its ability to offer an authentic, wooded camping feel while being intimately connected to one of Maine’s most celebrated coastal resort areas.
For rates, reservations, and specific questions regarding availability for your preferred camping equipment (RV size, slide-out clearance, tent size, etc.), please use the direct phone number. Given the park's popularity and seasonal operation, calling ahead is always recommended, particularly for peak summer weekends.

For Maine residents, York Beach Camper Park represents the perfect "staycation" spot—a centrally located, quiet, and affordable coastal escape that maximizes vacation time. As locals know, beach parking in Southern Maine during the summer is often expensive and frustratingly hard to find. By staying at a campground within walking distance of Short Sands Beach, locals gain back valuable time and save money, allowing them to truly enjoy the Maine coast.
The atmosphere is ideal for families and couples who appreciate a friendly, community-oriented setting and value the traditional, shaded camping experience over a crowded, open RV parking lot. The convenience of full hookups for RVs and the beauty of spacious, forested tent sites, all with hot showers and clean facilities, ensure a comfortable experience. More than anything, the York Beach Camper Park provides Maine families with an authentic, accessible piece of the southern coast, putting them moments away from a perfect beach day, a stroll for taffy at The Goldenrod, or a classic New England lighthouse view, all while being able to retreat to the cool comfort of their own quiet campsite at night. It is a true Maine coastal camping gem.

Beautiful TENT CAMPING SITES. Spacious site with fireplace. Pine and oak tree canopy. The best thing was : NO BUGS"; I was told no bugs because of the ocean. Stayed for 3 days over the Fourth of July weekend. Great weather. Very close to York town center and The Goldenrod. Temperatures at night was low 60'S. Very comfortable sleeping. Small pond in the back of the tent site, very scenic.
Jul 07, 2025 · Douglas LymanDecent, cheap, quiet campground. We stayed in a tent site, sites are pretty close together. There is a dishwashing station and hot showers at the front of the place. Dog friendly as well.

Jul 08, 2025 · Joanie Bégin-MorinWe spent a week here and it was great! The campsite was quiet and in a good location to where we could walk to the shops and zoo. The zoo was awesome! Driving to Long Sands Beach and the lighthouse was easy. Diane and her daughter were very friendly and helpful! We definitely recommend and will be going again.

Our 2 kids and dog had a nice 5 minute walk to town& the beach - zoo walking distance, plus the cutest ice cream bar / taffy & candy shop. The beach water was so clear.
