Introduction / Overview
For Maine locals looking for the ideal blend of a peaceful, wooded retreat and convenient access to the legendary Southern Maine coastline, Pinederosa Camping Area in Wells offers a compelling destination. Operating as a welcoming, family-owned and operated campground for over 30 years, Pinederosa has established itself as a home-away-from-home for both nightly and seasonal guests. The park is nestled across 37 acres of forest, offering a distinctly different atmosphere from the more open, coastal-edge parks—here, you'll find tall, shading trees and a serene environment that truly feels like an escape.
Pinederosa caters to a wide variety of campers, from those with large RVs needing full hookups to traditional tenters seeking a more primitive experience. A key highlight is the campground's ability to provide secluded, shaded sites that still offer easy leveling for trailers, a feature frequently praised by visitors. While the environment is quiet and peaceful, the convenience of coastal Maine is never far away. The park is committed to a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere, welcoming families and even allowing pets on most nightly and seasonal sites, making it a viable option for those traveling with their canine companions (though specific policies and fees apply). Pinederosa provides a balanced Maine experience: the fresh air of the woods with the excitement of the shore just a short drive away.

This location allows it to maintain a tranquil, "retreat" atmosphere while ensuring all the attractions of the Wells and Ogunquit area are within easy reach.
The most significant locational advantage is its proximity to the coast—Pinederosa is situated just three miles from the beautiful white sand beaches of Wells and Ogunquit. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Pinederosa Camping Area is uniquely suited for Maine locals seeking a quintessential Southern Maine vacation without sacrificing comfort or tranquility. For residents accustomed to the beauty of the state's forests, Pinederosa offers that familiar, peaceful wooded environment, unlike the sometimes starker, more crowded RV resorts closer to the immediate beachfront. The feeling of pulling into a secluded, shaded site after a short commute down the highway makes it a true retreat for Mainers.
The key appeal lies in its combination of a serene setting with the ultimate convenience. Locals can enjoy quiet evenings by the fire, fish in the Ogunquit River, or relax by the heated pool, knowing that the bustling Wells Beach, outlet shopping, and famous local seafood restaurants are all just a three-mile, five-minute drive away. The option of seasonal stays is also a huge draw, allowing Maine families to reserve their summer base camp year after year, building community with neighboring campers. Furthermore, the pet-friendly policy ensures that a cherished member of the family doesn't have to be left behind. Pinederosa Camping Area truly provides a quality, family-focused coastal camping experience, blending the best of Maine's woods and its seashore into one highly accessible package.

This campground is beautiful, the sites are well maintained and are in a beautiful wooded. The sites all seem to be easy to level your trailer. Family owned and operated. It really is a retreat just a very short drive from the beach. Only stayed one night. Easy off and on the highway.
Aug 09, 2025 · Michael OldsThis was our second year tenting there. We love it. It's close to the jetty, beach, shopping/outlet, groceries, and restaurants. Staff are friendly & welcoming. The pool is awesome. There's laundry. Showers & and washrooms are nice & clean. Kids can have fun fishing in the pond. Quiet & peaceful. Lots of shade. Already planning next years visit.
Jul 31, 2025 · MyleeLooked great going in.. NOT enjoyable or kid friendly place though. Heated pool- not even close. Owner claimed it was 80° but my kid was shivering.. Stocked fish pond- with 3-6 feet of wild plants around the entire pond... couldn't access it easily at all. Lake view rv spots- with a 30 ft STEEP incline into still swamp like water. Noisy highway traffic too- wasn't bad but not ideal for a camping vacation. Bees infested everywhere, and odd swarms of flying ants coming out of the ground. Added bonus when glass bottles were found all around our campsite by our 3 year old. Nice looking woodsy camp ground if you dont have kids, but you like bugs, cold pools, and dead branches falling. The owner was kind and gave us a refund of the night we didn't end up staying for. I see the owner replies and kind of tells people off so... I was nothing but honest here. Great place. But there's way better places miles down the road. Thank you for being very professionally kind when we decided to leave early. We will not return.
Sep 02, 2025 · Lex O'TooleTent camped for only one night on our way further north. We were in site 11. Beautiful site and grounds. As others had mentioned, yes you can hear the hwy traffic most especially the trucks. It is pretty loud on that side of the camp- it did slow down after 10pm. If you’re in a camper it might not be so bad, but as we were in a tent, there was no buffer. We were still able to sleep, however, but it is the first thing you notice upon waking up. The other guests were quiet, friendly and respectful. Felt very welcome and comfortable walking around the beautifully wooded and well cared for property. The BathHouse—is probably THE NICEST camp bathhouse I’ve ever walked into. The finishing touches the, light fixtures, mirrors…just a total “vibe” as the kids say. The cleanliness is only accentuated by Sirius Radio playing a classic Rat Pack play list. Showering with Sinatra serenading you was an unexpected amenity I didn’t know I was missing. Found the perfect water temp within a minute, hot and ready. 25 cents for 4 mins. All the ladies bathroom stalls have bins for sanitary purposes. Thank you for the stay! -visiting from NC
