Introduction / Overview
For Mainers seeking the quintessential summer escape on the Southern coast, Beach Acres Tent Sites & Park offers a long-standing and highly central camping destination in Wells. Located in a prime area known for its pristine beaches, vibrant shops, and renowned local dining, Beach Acres operates as a family-friendly seasonal park. The property accommodates a mix of RVs, travel trailers, and dedicated tent campers, offering sites that are described as both large and open, with some partially shaded options available. The facility is set up to provide a comfortable base camp with paved roads and essential amenities, making it easy to navigate and settle in for a relaxed stay.
The core identity of Beach Acres is rooted in its incredible proximity to the coast. Situated only about three-quarters of a mile from the ocean, the campground positions itself as a gateway to the famous Wells Beach area. This close distance is a major draw for local users who prioritize beach access and the refreshing ocean breeze that defines the coastal Maine experience. The property is designed for both short-term vacationers and those looking for seasonal residency, creating a community atmosphere throughout the summer months. However, prospective campers should be aware that the park is primarily a dense, convenient option close to a tourist hub, and some tenting areas may be open-field style with limited privacy, making it better suited for those who enjoy a lively, social camping experience rather than deep, secluded wilderness. Furthermore, it is important to note that the campground does not allow pets, a key piece of information for local families planning a vacation.
Location and Accessibility
Beach Acres Tent Sites & Park is strategically located at 76 Eldridge Rd, Wells, ME 04090. This address places it just off the busy US Route 1, making it highly accessible from the Maine Turnpike (I-95, Exit 19) and centrally positioned between the popular tourist towns of Kennebunkport and Ogunquit.
The park's location is a significant advantage for Mainers. It is situated just three-quarters of a mile from the ocean, meaning the beautiful Wells Beach is within walking or easy biking distance. This close proximity saves visitors the typical summertime struggle of finding expensive and limited beach parking. Furthermore, its location is ideal for day trips and local excursions. The campground is ideally located near:
While the official physical address is 76 Eldridge Road, which is accessible via the paved roads within the mobile home park component of the property, some navigational systems may direct users to the wrong side of the larger park. Local users are advised to pay close attention to the approach to the property's main entrance to ensure a smooth check-in process. The convenient location, effectively in the heart of the Southern Coast Gateway to Maine, minimizes travel time and maximizes vacation time for Maine residents.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Maine residents, Beach Acres Tent Sites & Park offers a practical and appealing choice for coastal camping, especially for those who prioritize location and a full suite of recreational amenities. Its greatest strength is its prime location in Wells, a town that already holds a nostalgic and familiar place in the hearts of many Mainers. The ability to be less than a mile from the ocean, yet have the security and facilities of a large campground, is an ideal balance for a summer vacation.
Locals should view Beach Acres as an amenity-rich resort, perfect for families who plan to spend their days at the beach and their evenings by the pool or participating in on-site activities. The availability of seasonal sites is a particularly strong incentive for Maine residents, offering a hassle-free, recurring summer spot without the commitment of owning a second home. While it may not appeal to those seeking a secluded, wilderness-style camping experience—given the noted close proximity and lack of privacy in some areas, especially for tenters—it is an excellent choice for those who value convenience, community, and having immediate access to the vibrant heart of the Southern Maine coast. The no-pet policy is a critical detail that local users must be aware of when planning their stay. Ultimately, Beach Acres is an accessible, fun, and feature-packed option for a classic Maine summer holiday.

Don’t recomend for tenting. Facilities are well maintained but camping sites are very tight and not private whatsoever. When you’re at your campfire you’re starting at your neighbor at theirs 15 ft away. Bring soap for the restroom as none is provided.
Jul 06, 2025 · AIt's a great field. No firepits, tables, or bathrooms. Literally just a grass lot. It worked for what I was there for which was parking for the Maine Coast Half Marathon but for camping, there's nothing to be had. And it's hard to find because it's actually back in the mobile home park to the south. Maps navigates you to the north side of the mobile home park. It was very confusing.
May 14, 2025 · Helen ScottI'm a seasonal at Beach Acres and it is the best park on the Seacoast. Reasonably priced compared to most of the parks and less than a mile to the water. Owners are super nice.

Aug 09, 2025 · Wanda Sage-SanfordThe experience itself was good. Facilities were clean. Staff was friendly. Overall, we had a great experience. Only issue for us was the amount of skunks that walked around at night. They were not afraid of people and very food driven. One came right up to my chair and stole a marshmallow. Another night, it came right into my tente because the kids had left food goldfish crackers there. They were not afraid of humans. Having said that, we only smelled skunk 2x in the five nights we were there. But definitely a problem that needs to be dealt with.
