My family was booked for a seasonal site, signed all paperwork and submitted bank information. The previous renters camper was still at the site at the start season. We were told by the campground that the previous renter was selling their camper and that someone was coming to look at it. We later received an email that the site was no longer available “due to unforeseen circumstances”despite us signing paperwork and sending our bank information. We assume that the camper was sold along with the seasonal site we were already booked for. We’re very disappointed with the unprofessional behavior of the campground staff. We won’t be camping here again nor will we recommend this campground to family/ friends. Response to owners/managers comment: While we most definitely understand that health issues happen and my husband and I were both patient for the several weeks we waited for spot #36 to open for us. My husband contacted the business hired to remove the camper simply to inquire about a removal date- this interaction was initiated with nothing but politeness and with no intention to get involved in the previous campers personal business. Coincidentally the only personal information we received about the previous site owner was from the campground itself; this information was unprompted by us and included the previous owners name, health issues, and the business that was supposedly hired to remove the camper. The business also notified that they had not even been contacted by anyone to remove the previous owners camper despite it already being several weeks after the camping season started and despite us being told by the campground that it was scheduled to be removed. With all of this delay & then ultimately being denied the seasonal site with no other sites available at Lake Joy it no longer made sense financially for us to get a seasonal site at another campground as it was already several weeks into the camping season and we are primarily weekend campers. Our family did nothing to “take matters into our own hands” other than inquire about the date of the previous campers removal from the site. Once again, my husband and I were nothing but polite and simply wanted to ensure we could use the site as much as possible throughout the camping season. I would assume that would be reasonable given the cost of a seasonal site & the fact that we did not have access to the site several weeks after the season started.
May 30, 2025 · Morgan BreinerVery nice camp ground just off the highway but far enough not to hear traffic. very easy access into the campground. Has electric and water hooks up. Tent or rv camping . It’s on a very nice private lake with some of the most beautiful black crappie I have seen. Would highly recommend.
May 13, 2025 · Todd FarnhamThe staff is very friendly and helpful with guiding people into their campsites. There are plenty of sites to choose from for tents, pop-ups, and larger RVs. Some of the sites near the office, store, and game room are set up oddly on a somewhat terraced lawn. Our site was along the shrubbery at the top of the hill. We were nearly alone midweek. A nice view of the lake. Close to the bathroom/shower house. Once Friday evening came, the sites near us filled in. Now, our view was of a line of RVs and trucks. Tenters had set up on the leading edge. I am not sure how we could have gotten out first. Firepits seemed to be in odd places. You could easily drive your vehicle into one if not careful. The bathroom is clean. However, stalls and showers had no hooks to hang things to stay dry or shelves to put soap, etc. The store has bare minimum items and does not carry milk or bread. The swimming area had large inflatables for kids or adult to use. There were lots of canoes, fishing supplies to rent. Also the gameroom was uniquely free! All you needed was to sign off on the game parts needed. AirHockey, skeetball, billiards, ping-pong and more. Several playgrounds were placed throughout the grounds. There were also Porta pottys in several locations. They looked to be from the 50s or 60s. Very small looking.
Aug 16, 2023 · Pete ZielinskiFriendly staff, all sites have picnic table and fire ring. Water electric rv hookup but no sewer. Dump station near entrance. LOTS of water toys and special area for younger kids. 12 and under required to wear life preservers. Small camp store. Well maintained atea.
Jun 20, 2022 · Scott AdamsThis is a beautiful setting and the staff were all more than willing to help; but I don’t believe there is a ten foot flat spot in the entire campground.
