Customer Reviews
I love Shabbona State Park, we live nearby so it's probably the place we hike most frequently. They have shorter trails and one that's about 7 miles. There is camping, fishing, boating, hiking, many picnic areas, several playgrounds, a restaurant called Pokanoka's which is right on the lake and has live music on Saturdays in the summer. They also have boat rentals for people interested in boating. This lake is great for kayaks and canoes, it's not a tiny lake, but it's also not at all overwhelming. You won't get lost here...not on the lake and not on the trails. Kid friendly trails, no super steep hills or anything at all dangerous. In the late summer the sunflower field is absolutely beautiful! Come check it out, it's really quite wonderful♡
We took a drive through Shabbona this Friday morning. We had not been there before & wanted to check out boating regulations, boat ramps, lake depth, etc. We went into the Bait Shop & the men were great answering our questions. I was surprised they sold live bait & also did boat rentals. He confirmed the HP limit was lifted in lieu of a slow wake regardless of your boat motor hp. Good to know! Also good to know is that they sell alcohol & other drinks as well. Overall the park/lake was beautiful & we definitely would come back to fish.
I had a fantastic experience at Shabbona Lake and Campground in Illinois. The lake is absolutely beautiful, and the picnic areas are perfect for a relaxing day out. The surrounding trees add to the natural charm of the place. A great spot for enjoying nature and spending quality time outdoors.🌳🐶🪷
Nice park. Lot of space and shade. Nice restaurant on site. They have boating and kayaking. Although I found that kayaking was a bit hard with so many logs in he lake. You probably need advance booking for boats. We couldn't get it. Bait shop has all you need for fishing. We also spotted a snake in the lake.
One of our favorite state parks! Close enough to home, to bring our kayaks for a day in the water. Trails for hiking and streams to explore. First time camping. Can't wait to come back!
