As a part of the North Carolina State Parks system, B.W. Wells Campground operates under a standardized fee structure. While traditional "promotions" or deep discounts like those found at private campgrounds may not be prevalent, the State Park system does offer specific benefits and structured pricing. For us North Carolina locals, understanding these can help in planning an affordable and enjoyable camping trip.
Here's what you can typically expect and inquire about:
-
Senior Citizen and Military/Veteran Discounts: North Carolina State Parks generally offer discounts for senior citizens (often 62 and older) and military personnel/veterans on camping fees. It is always advisable to inquire about these qualifications when making a reservation.
-
Standardized Pricing: While not a "promotion," the State Park system offers consistent and often very competitive rates for its campsites. Pricing typically varies based on the type of site (tent, RV with electric/water, group site) and the season, but generally provides excellent value for the amenities and natural beauty offered.
-
Annual Passes (for Day Use): While camping fees are separate, those who frequently visit multiple North Carolina State Parks for day use (hiking, swimming, picnicking) might benefit from an annual park pass, which covers entrance fees at applicable parks, though Falls Lake often has no day-use entrance fee outside of certain times/areas.
-
Reservation System Benefits: The ReserveAmerica booking system allows you to secure your spot up to 6 months in advance. While there's a reservation fee, this proactive booking ensures you get your preferred site, especially during peak seasons, which can be seen as a form of "securing value."
It’s important to note that a single campsite can be reserved for a maximum of 14 nights within any 30-day period, and there is "no long-term camping or monthly RV parking or storage at the park," emphasizing its recreational purpose.
For the most current information on specific site fees, any applicable discounts, and reservation details, the best approach is to visit the NC State Parks website for Falls Lake or call B.W. Wells Campground directly.

Customer Reviews
2 small loop hiking trails that are good for beginners or casual hikers, maybe decent for trail running workouts. Camp sites look nicely maintained. Very clean, access to the lake. Well marked.
Great family/group campground. Very clean and there are plenty of facilities. We use BW Wells for our Cub Scout camp outs.
Well maintained group campsites, nice trails, clean washrooms with warm water shower, surprised to see automatic hot water shower which was actually not good as we wanted normal or cold water due to hot n sweaty temperature outside.
At site 2 there is one outlet in the bathroom, but it does not work. Need some gravel placed to transition between the sidewalk and ground. It is too high of a drop-off for wheelchairs - dangerous.
Wonderful secluded family place to camp. We actually walked around during the week and no one around. Was really nice.
