Location and Accessibility
Battlehill RV Park is situated at 2443 Pueblo Rd, Galva, KS 67443, USA. This address places it in a tranquil, rural setting, offering a true escape from city noise. While its secluded nature is a highlight, it does mean a bit of a scenic drive to get there. Guests should be aware that reaching the park involves traveling several miles on well-maintained gravel roads. It's important to note a specific navigational tip: avoid taking 24th Avenue if you're approaching from the north, as it features a low-tonnage bridge that is unsuitable for RVs, potentially requiring a significant backup. Instead, it's always recommended to call ahead for the best driving directions, ensuring a smooth and stress-free arrival.
Despite its rural feel, the park's location offers proximity to key natural attractions, including McPherson State Fishing Lake and Maxwell Wildlife Refuge. This makes it an excellent base for fishing, wildlife viewing (including bison and elk), and enjoying nature trails. While not directly "convenient to town" for quick trips, its relative isolation is precisely what many campers seek for a truly peaceful and immersive outdoor experience.

Furthermore, the exceptional hospitality from Raymond and his family, which can include informal invitations to s'mores nights or wine tastings, adds an intangible value that goes beyond published discounts. The vast, starry night skies are a highlight, a perfect reminder of the beauty that lies beyond city lights. While the drive in involves some gravel roads, the positive reviews assure us they are well-maintained, and the journey is well worth the destination for the serenity it provides.
The spacious, full hookup sites cater to all types of RVs, ensuring a comfortable stay. The added family-friendly features like the splash pad and playground make it an excellent choice for a family outing, offering kids entertainment in a safe, open environment. The close proximity to McPherson State Fishing Lake and Maxwell Wildlife Refuge provides abundant opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing, all within easy reach. This personal touch, from helpful driving tips to inviting community activities, creates a welcoming atmosphere that feels uniquely Kansan. If you're looking for an affordable, tranquil, and family-friendly RV experience surrounded by the authentic beauty of the Kansas prairie, Battlehill RV Park is a local gem that promises a truly relaxing and memorable stay.
Once you get there it's a nice campground. Several miles of gravel roads to arrive and don't take 24th Ave if coming from the north, ran into a 7 ton bridge and had to back up about half a mile. Sites are huge, location is very quiet, and you can't beat the price. Nice day use room with restrooms and showers. Water pressure could be better but it's not terrible and some shade would be nice as there are no trees. If you like stars at night, peace and quiet, listening to coyotes howl this is your kinda place. If you want something convenient to town I'd look elsewhere. Lot of long term workers but no loud partying. Splash pad, basketball goals, and small playground for the kids. State lake close by.
Aug 26, 2024 · Kayne PhillipsWe stayed at the Battlehill Park over the Memorial Day weekend. We called ahead for best driving directions and check in process. The drive in was partially on gravel road but it was in a great condition. We traveled through all 50 states and this road was better than some paved roads. They had some vendors there and we did wine tasting. In the evening we were invited to make s'mores. We met and chatted with Raymond, the owner, his family and other local people and campers. All very friendly, kind and hospitable. The sites are level, FHU, some back-in and some pull-through. There are two small kid play structures, basketball/volleyball court, splash pad, laundry and bathroom with showers. Raymond has Angus beef for sale. We extended our stay here after the first night, it was a peaceful and relaxing place. We will stay here when we are back in the area.
May 27, 2024 · mom tostarThis is a wonderful campground. NEW, clean, and the owner was so helpful and kind. We are planning another trip back to visit the surrounding areas. While driving to the campground we came upon a herd of buffalo. We weren't expecting all this awesomeness. Beautiful drive we went through a refuge on our way to the park. We later found out , the refuge has trolly rides through the prairie and buffalo viewing. Also we were told there is an elk herd, but we didn't see any. And McPherson, KS State fishing lake next to campground. This place is quiet and serene. Absolutely recommend to fellow travelers.07/12-07/14/2024
