While the park is described as "remote," it remains comfortably accessible for Ohio residents, allowing for a relatively easy drive to a true wilderness experience. The nearby town of Lisbon, OH, provides essential amenities such as grocery stores, gas stations, and other services, ensuring campers can stock up on supplies before arriving at the campground. The campground's location within Beaver Creek State Park also means campers have direct access to the park's extensive network of roads and trails, facilitating easy movement to various recreational areas, historic sites like Gaston's Mill and Pioneer Village, and the scenic Little Beaver Creek itself. This balance of peaceful seclusion and practical accessibility makes it an attractive choice for Ohio families looking for an outdoor adventure.

Services Offered

Beaver Creek State Park Family Campground offers a selection of services designed to provide a comfortable and functional camping experience, catering primarily to those who appreciate a more rustic yet well-maintained environment. Based on information from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and customer reviews, the campground offers:

  • Campsites with Electric Hookups: The campground features "only six electric spots," indicating a limited number of sites that provide electricity, suitable for RVs and pop-up campers that require power.
  • Non-Electric Campsites: For tent campers and those seeking a more traditional experience, there are 39 non-electric sites available. These sites are ideal for a more primitive camping feel.
  • Sherman Cabins: Two rustic "Sherman cabins" are available for rent within the family campground. These cabins "do NOT have running water, sinks, showers, or toilets" but are equipped with "electricity, heat/air conditioning, a microwave, mini fridge, table and chairs, picnic table, grill, and fire ring," offering a step up from tent camping. One cabin is also ADA accessible.
  • Picnic Tables and Fire Rings: Each campsite, whether electric or non-electric, and the Sherman cabins, come equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, essential for outdoor dining and campfires (where permitted).
  • Clean Pit Toilets: Reviews specifically highlight "clean bathrooms." The campground utilizes pit toilets (no showerhouse), but their cleanliness is consistently praised by visitors, indicating good maintenance.
  • Dump Station: A dump station is available for RV campers. However, it's important to note that the park "does NOT have a water reservoir filling station," and the water wells cannot accommodate filling onboard camper water tanks, so campers should plan to arrive with a full water tank.
  • Drinking Fountain and Bottle Fill Station: Despite the lack of a full water filling station for RVs, there is a drinking fountain and a bottle fill station available for potable water.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Pets are permitted at the family campground, allowing Ohio families to bring their furry companions along for the adventure. (Note: pets are not permitted in Sherman Cabins).
  • Reservations Required: All campsites and cabins require reservations, which can be made up to six months in advance online or by calling the central reservation line.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a professional content writer specializing in local business SEO, it's important to clarify that specific, real-time "promotions or special offers" for Beaver Creek State Park Family Campground are not typically advertised in the same way as private businesses. As a facility within an Ohio State Park, its pricing and reservation system are managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Therefore, "offers" usually pertain to standardized rates and specific discount programs offered by the state park system rather than limited-time promotional deals. However, here are common aspects that campers might consider:

  • Standardized State Park Rates: Camping fees for both electric and non-electric sites, as well as Sherman cabins, are set by the ODNR and are generally consistent across similar state park campgrounds. These rates are published on the official ODNR website and through the reservation system.
  • Advance Reservations: All sites and cabins require reservations and can be made up to six months in advance. While not a discount, booking early is crucial for securing a desired spot, especially for the limited electric sites and popular cabins during peak seasons.
  • Ohio Golden Buckeye Card Discount: Ohio residents aged 60 and over, or those with a permanent disability, may be eligible for discounts on camping fees (e.g., 50% off Sunday through Thursday, 10% off Friday and Saturday) with a valid Golden Buckeye Card.
  • Active/Retired Military Discount: The ODNR typically offers a 10% discount off camping fees for active or retired military personnel, valid any day of the week. This discount is usually applicable regardless of the customer's home state.
  • Disabled Veteran/POW Free Camping Pass: Honorably discharged Ohio resident veterans who are former Prisoners of War or permanently and totally disabled may qualify for a free camping pass through the ODNR, though reservation fees may still apply.
  • Off-Peak Season Considerations: From November 1 to May 1, the dump station is available, but there is no water service at the campground. While not a "promotion," camping during the off-peak season often means fewer crowds and a different experience, though amenities are reduced.

To inquire about current rates, specific site availability, and to confirm eligibility for any state park discounts, prospective campers should visit the official Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) website for Beaver Creek State Park or use the Ohio State Parks online reservation system (e.g., ReserveOhio.com).

Absolutely gorgeous campground. Stayed in one of the Sherman cabins. It was clean and well maintained. The fridge, microwave, ceiling fan and heater worked great. There was also a small supply of paper towels and trash bags. The camp host was friendly and helpful. The campground itself was quite peaceful. Very relaxing. There is a strip mine reclamation happening, lots of new trees planted. Looking forward to seeing it in a few years when the trees have grown. The North Country Scenic trail runs through the campground as well as a few other trails. I would like to have explored them all. Will definitely be back.

It's beautiful but the electric sites are along a noisy road. If you go in nice weather try to get the spots in the cul-de-sac. No shower house. The water hook up has to be held on the whole time you fill up.

Nice campground for tent camping. Our site had plenty of space, with a fire ring and table. Great views. Pit toilet was clean. Short 6 min drive to the main park, but hiking trail from the middle of the campground.

Park was clean and the sights were big and all had plenty of firewood to use. The dogwood trail was under construction and the bike ride to the other trails was on some busy steep roads without a bike lane but it was still fun! Only downfall was the bathrooms could use a good clean.
