This is the first campground on the way to Cook Forest. It's just outside of Downtown Brookville which has a quaint historic district with lots of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. The owners are friendly and helpful. They are in their third year of ownership and have made many improvements. The office is very welcoming. They have a small country store that has all the basics at reasonable prices. They even fill propane onsite. We camped at Big Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful, serene, welcoming, friendly and accommodating are just a few of the words that come to mind after our wonderfully relaxing stay at Big Country Campgrounds. Owners, Bill, Mary and son Tyler have keep a wonderfully tidy place and host a well stocked store. Say hi to the pet turtle! They sell propane on site if you need a top-off and bait as well! Located on a lightly-traveled country road, you are a way from the bustle of the highway. The site was clean, relatively level and freshly graveled. The large, expansive lawns were well manicured. We found a walking trail that led us to an old tree fort/cabin down the hill. There is a fishing pond on site and other play amenities. One Saturday, they hosted a "Xmas In July" weekend for the campers. The festivities included a pizza bake that evening. You're minutes away from the historic town of Brookeville, and 40 minutes from world-famous Punxatawney. Cook Forest State park is just up the road, and the entire region is chock full of well-maintained ATV trails. This is a must-do site if you travel with a quad or RZR. The ATV trails were wonderful for e-biking and hiking as well. We enjoy birdwatching and sited about 22 different species in late July. This is a place for 'getting away from it all'. Cell service is OK at the top of the hill, but may be a bit spotty down on the lower area. We will be back and highly recommend this gem of a campground.

We were traveling I-80 and needed a place for the night. This place is easy to get to, peaceful, quiet, neat and clean. It's open meadow with trees, with nice long gravel pull through spaces w/full hookups. We have a nice cool breeze through the windows. The owners are great! They made sure we had what we needed, and offered to bring us water if we needed more. Thanks! We would stay again if traveling this way.
