This is an amazing place! Staying here for my husband’s work and so far it has been great. Cindy is so kind and is willing to help in any way she can. There’s a trail that you can hike, which is really nice. They have cows and horses, which you can feed. The views are always amazing!
Awesome campground! We’ve been here three months while my husband is working in nearby Ironton, Ohio. It’s off the beaten path but so worth the drive. Beautiful scenery and wildlife along with farm animals. The owners/hosts are very accommodating and friendly. Cindy and I will be friends from here on out I’m sure. She also has a little bookshop on the grounds where she sells books and offers online sales as well. If the scenery and peace isn’t enough, get a book or 5 to fill your days. 😂 we will definitely be back if we are in the area again!
Long post, summary - beautiful quiet camp ground with sweet accommodating Hosts. In southern Ohio I know there are plenty of us that cross into surrounding states for horseback riding, so in case this may be helpful to anyone. This weekend we rode at Greenbo lake state park in Greenup KY. They DO NOT allow over night camping with horses anymore despite what the website shows. After making many many phone calls we found "Black's Camper Lots". The owners were super helpful and ultra accommodating . Before this weekend they had only hosted one other horse camper, but the host (a horse owner herself) told me "horses people gotta look out for each other" She and her husband put up a nice size electric paddock that attached to a stall in the barn that provided more than I expected for shelter and roaming space. They do also have plenty of electric/water/sewage camp sites. The owners met up with us when we arrived and showed us the hows and wheres of their camp. The had filled up fresh water for the horses and planned a place to park our trailer with the most shade since we were planning to "boondock" for the weekend. Blacks Camper Lots is only 15-20 min drive to greenbo lake state park and is the closest (and only that I could find )horse allowed campground to the park. Blacks Camper lots is quiet and beautiful. The fire flies glittered the pasture behind us and we woke up to the sweet lowing of cows in the distance. Once we arrived at Greenbo we were able to park in the field down where the old horse camp used to be located, and ride back to the all purpose clay lick trail. The owners came back on check out day to ask if we needed anything and let us know they had checked on our canopy while we were gone since there had been quite a bit of wind. Over all great stay and would do it again. Their names are Cindy and Mark and you can find it by googling Blacks Camper lots argillite Ky
The Blacks camper lots is one of the best places I have stayed I travel a great deal and stay at a a lot of campgrounds and this place is great, it's quite and the owner Cindy is a wonderful person always helpful and going the extra mile to make sure your stay is great. I can't say enough how pleased I am with the service and the friendly owners of Blacks Camper Lots
If you’re looking for a quiet, serene and beautiful place to camp, this is it! The farm setting is ideal. Mark and Cindy are excellent hosts. They are friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need to be comfortable and get settled in. I’ve stayed here ten days while my husband has a long term job in the area. I have enjoyed walking the trail through the woods by the stream, feeding the horses apples almost every night, watching Cindy and Mark feed the cows and even bought some books from Cindy’s bookstore. Cindy put a couple of Adirondack chairs by the stream so I could sit down there to read and enjoy the serenity. I leave in a day or two, but look forward to coming back before my husband’s job is finished!
