For New York residents seeking the classic Adirondack wilderness experience without the hassle of deep backcountry trekking, Blue Ridge Falls Campsites in North Hudson, NY, offers a practical and scenic base camp. Situated in the Eastern Adirondacks, near the popular Schroon Lake area, this campground is designed to provide restful, shaded sites with the immense benefit of spectacular mountain views. It serves as an accessible entry point to a vast six-million-acre park, positioning you perfectly to enjoy the region’s renowned natural beauty, from towering High Peaks to pristine lakes and streams.
The core appeal of Blue Ridge Falls Campsites is its blend of convenience and location. It is strategically placed to allow easy access from the Adirondack Northway (I-87), meaning you avoid navigating twisty, tight mountain roads with an RV—a major plus for many campers traveling from the greater New York region. While promoting the beauty of its surroundings, the campground caters primarily to those with self-sufficient camping equipment, offering full hook-ups that allow you to drop your camper and spend your days exploring the countless hiking trails, fishing spots, and local attractions that define the Adirondacks. It's a convenient spot to dock your home-on-wheels while you immerse yourself in the upstate experience.
Customer feedback suggests that the campground’s most stunning feature is the physical beauty of its location, particularly the lookout over the falls from select spots and the immediate proximity to state land. The owner, Tom, is noted by some for his hands-on help, with reviews mentioning assistance with getting firewood to sites, contributing to a personal touch. While it may not be an "RV resort" with constant organized activities, it is highly valued by visitors looking for a quiet, natural setting that provides an excellent staging point for adventure into the Blue Ridge Wilderness and beyond. It is open seasonally, typically from Mid-May to October, welcoming both RV and tent campers ready to explore this iconic New York landscape.
Blue Ridge Falls Campsites is conveniently located in the Eastern Adirondack region, specifically in the small hamlet of North Hudson, NY. The official address is 3493 Blue Ridge Rd, North Hudson, NY 12855, USA. This location is a significant advantage for New Yorkers, as it is positioned just two miles from Exit 29 off the Adirondack Northway (I-87). This direct access minimizes travel time and reduces the stress of navigating complicated mountain roads, making the drive from Albany, the Capital Region, or even the Metro-New York area straightforward and efficient.
The campground’s placement at the beginning of the Blue Ridge Wilderness Area makes it an ideal launchpad for outdoor activities. The Blue Ridge Falls themselves are located across the road, providing a scenic attraction within easy walking distance.
Furthermore, the campsite is strategically positioned for accessing regional hubs and attractions:
Schroon Lake: The nearby community of Schroon Lake, a short drive away, provides access to groceries, restaurants, and local shops.
Historic Attractions: The site is only about five minutes from the historic former Frontier Town site and the center of North Hudson.
Major Adirondack Destinations: Key destinations like Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain, and Gore Mountain are all accessible within an hour to an hour and a half drive, positioning the campground perfectly for day trips to premier Adirondack sites.
This blend of seclusion and highway accessibility ensures a peaceful camping experience that remains connected to the necessary modern conveniences and recreational opportunities.
Blue Ridge Falls Campsites provides a range of essential services and hookups designed to accommodate modern campers, particularly those traveling with RVs, trailers, or pop-ups.
The core services available at the campground include:
Diverse Campsites: The campground features various site types to meet different needs, including Pull-Through Sites, Back-In Sites, Pop-Up Sites, and dedicated Tent Sites.
RV Hookups: A significant portion of the sites offer comprehensive hookups, including Water and Electric service (available in 20, 30, and 50 amp service) and Sewer connections at "most" sites, making it suitable for larger, self-sufficient RVs.
Bathhouse Facilities: Restrooms and bathhouses with hot showers are provided. While some facilities have been noted in reviews as needing maintenance, the availability of showers is an essential service for all campers.
Essential Site Amenities: Each site is furnished with a fire pit for campfires and individual trash barrels, which are conveniently emptied daily by staff.
Staff Assistance: The owner, Tom, is acknowledged in reviews for providing helpful service, including assisting with delivering firewood to campsites.
Camp Supplies: The office area serves as an entry/recreation room and likely provides basic camp supplies, consistent with similar Adirondack campgrounds.
On-Site Connectivity: Wi-Fi internet access is offered, which is a modern convenience helpful for planning daily excursions or staying lightly connected.
It is important to note, based on customer feedback, that while "most" sites have sewer hookups, a central septic dump station for general use is reportedly not available. Campers should confirm their specific site’s hookup details upon booking.
The key features of Blue Ridge Falls Campsites are intrinsically tied to its location within the stunning Adirondack Park, appealing specifically to the nature-focused New York camper.
The most noteworthy features and highlights include:
Spectacular Mountain Views: The campground is lauded for its breathtaking views of the surrounding Adirondack mountains, particularly from a few key sites, providing a true sense of being immersed in the park.
Proximity to Blue Ridge Falls: The natural Blue Ridge Falls—a series of small, scenic drops on The Branch creek—are located directly across the road, offering an immediate, accessible natural attraction.
Adirondack Hiking Hub: As a convenient starting point just minutes off I-87, the campground is an excellent base for New York hikers and outdoor enthusiasts looking to access nearby state land, streams, ponds, and lakes for hiking, fishing, and hunting.
Accessibility to Local Breweries and Dining: A local brewery and a frontier-themed restaurant are only about five minutes away, offering convenient dining and entertainment options for evenings out of camp.
Outdoor Courts (Subject to Condition): Promotional materials mention features like basketball and tennis courts, providing dedicated space for sports. Campers should note that the general maintenance of recreational areas may be rustic, so current usability should be verified.
Swimming Pool (Check Availability): A swimming pool is listed among the amenities, offering a place for cooling off during summer months. Prospective visitors should specifically inquire about the pool's operational status and maintenance level, as past reviews have noted periods when it was not usable.
The primary and most consistently praised highlight remains the campground's incredible location and the inherent natural beauty that provides an authentic Adirondack escape.

As the campground is known to have a large number of seasonal sites, it is highly recommended to call in advance to ensure availability for short-term RV or tent camping, especially if you are requesting a specific site with a highly-rated view.
Blue Ridge Falls Campsites is uniquely suitable for New York residents, especially those traveling from the southern or central parts of the state, due to its function as a seamless "Adirondack Base Camp". This campground allows locals to maximize their time enjoying the park and minimize the friction of mountain travel.
The key suitability factors are:
Unbeatable Access Point: Its location right off I-87 (Exit 29) solves the common problem of navigating deep, tricky mountain roads with a large RV, making the weekend or week-long trip significantly easier for New York families.
Proximity to True Wilderness: The site offers immediate access to the surrounding Blue Ridge Wilderness, positioning it perfectly for those whose main goal is fishing, hiking the numerous trails, or hunting in the vast state land nearby.
Self-Sufficient Comfort: With many sites offering full hookups (water, electric, sewer), it appeals directly to the seasoned RV owner who prefers a quiet, scenic spot to park a fully equipped camper while spending days off-site exploring, rather than a resort with mandatory activities.
While a small percentage of sites offer the highly coveted waterfall and mountain views, even the rest of the campground provides a restful, wooded setting near major attractions like Schroon Lake. For the New York camper whose priority is a convenient, full-service launchpad for Adirondack adventure, Blue Ridge Falls Campsites offers the essential location and hookups necessary to make the majestic Adirondack Park your accessible summer playground.

As much as I hate to post this review, other people should know what they are getting themselves into while staying at this very deceiving campground. As a seasoned couple who enjoys staying at campgrounds that are quiet, and not RV Resorts - this has to be the worst place we've stayed in 10+ years of traveling the Northeast Mountain areas. The one and only thing this campground has to offer is the view from 3 spots out of the 7 total that are rentable as the entire rest of the campground is permanent built-in campers. (And none of that is mentioned) This is not a campground you go to enjoy - this is simply the place you drop your self-sufficient camper and go elsewhere to explore or find things to do. Don't plan on having the same spot you request months prior - The owner will change it the minute you arrive with an array of lies as to how you're getting the "best site" - when in actuality he already gave your spot to someone else and is "hopeful" you'll accept whichever site he gives you at time of arrival. The advertising for this spot is truly nothing short of deceiving. The pool - liner is torn and not useable - Owner states just happened this year- And I would have believed this if the rest of the campground was maintained better. The kid's area- overgrown and swing set did not look safe to be played on. Immediate bathrooms located near the office - so absolutely filthy and run down - it should have been our sign to leave then. Our site - or the newly assigned one we received at check in -had a beautiful lookout over the falls -... this is the only positive things this entire place had to offer. Our firepit was not shoveled out - and sides were falling apart. **Trash barrels were provided at each site and emptied daily** Multiple signs throughout about keeping pets on leash -apparently those don't apply to the seasonal sights, as they walked their unleashed dog into our site to defecate before returning to their own seasonal site a little ways away... classy Remaining 2 bath houses - wow, just wow, the bathroom stalls don't lock - the stalls were not clean and just overall unsafe. Not a securing feeling for any female - never mind a mom with kids. - Oh and - no sink for dishes - nope. NO SEPTIC DUMP STATION... "most" sites had hook ups No Basket Ball/ Volley Ball nets, As stated, - Playground - not even close to safe Recreation room - Would call it an entry room to the main office, and nothing else. Disappointing doesn't even seem to cover how blatantly deceiving this campground experience was. 1st and last time visiting North Hudson - what an absolute shame.
Sep 02, 2025 · Monique GarceauClean bathrooms and showers. My site is amazing. Not the cheapest but also not the most expensive either. Tom is amazing and great help. Brought my wood up to my site also. Brewery and frontier restaurant place is 5 mins away also. Got this campground close to the trailhead.
Aug 16, 2025 · jeremiah bargyHeard good things, but when I tried to book over their website they never got back to me before our trip. I tried to call, and no one has responded to my voice mail either. Had to get a campsite at a different location last minute because of this. I'm sure there is an explanation... sorry guys.

STORE: Has all of your camping/random needs...including firewood BATHROOMS & SHOWERS: Clean!! NEARBY: --Make sure to checkout Frontier Town (4 min away by the highway) for breakfast, lunch, dinner, additional camping/hiking needs...and authentic Indian food! -- 16 minutes from Shroon Lake... cute little area with tons of great eateries! Sep 08, 2024 · Abby JohnsonThe Blue Ridge Falls Campsites were home for a night while riding through the Adirondack Adventure Loop. The sites are clean and the owners are great. The only thing I had messed up on were the paid showers… I didn’t have quarters.. my bad. I could have gone down to the office but I was too lazy at that point. I bathed in the river. 👍
