Greenville itself is a community that provides a pleasant small-town atmosphere, serving as a gateway to the natural beauty of Montcalm County.

The camp’s 360 acres of wooded property border the Flat River, a notable natural feature that adds to its appeal, particularly for outdoor enthusiasts. The presence of the Flat River can offer opportunities for various water-based activities, depending on access and camp policies, and certainly contributes to the overall aesthetic and ecological value of the property.

Services Offered

Camp Anna Behrens, primarily a Girl Scout owned and operated property, offers a range of services designed to support its diverse uses, from youth camps to private events. While the exact services provided might vary based on the specific type of booking (e.g., Girl Scout programming vs. external rentals), here's a general overview of what is typically available:

  • Venue Rental for Events: The camp's facilities, particularly Sherwood Lodge, are available for rent for various private events. This includes weddings, receptions, corporate events, and other organizational gatherings. Rental typically provides access to the lodge and associated areas for the duration of the event.
  • Event Spaces: Key facilities for events include Sherwood Lodge, which can accommodate a significant number of guests (up to 225-250 people mentioned in some descriptions) and features a large commercial kitchen. There's also an Activity Center with a full bathroom and dressing area, suitable for breakout sessions or preparation for events. An Outdoor Meeting Area with a stage and log seating is also available, accommodating approximately 100 people.
  • Commercial Kitchen Access: For events held at Sherwood Lodge, a large commercial kitchen is a significant offering. This allows caterers or event planners to prepare and serve meals on-site, providing flexibility for dining arrangements.
  • Year-Round Use (Sherwood Lodge): Sherwood Lodge is equipped with a radiant heat system, enabling its use year-round. This is a crucial service for planning events outside of traditional summer months, offering comfort regardless of Michigan's weather conditions.
  • Overnight Accommodations (for specific programs/rentals): While not a public campground in the traditional sense for individual RVs or tents, the property likely includes various lodging options for Girl Scout campers (such as bunkhouses or cabins) and potentially for event guests as part of rental agreements. One review mentioned bunkhouses and cabins accommodating up to 120 people for wedding guests at other similar camp venues, suggesting such facilities might be available at Camp Anna Behrens as well, if applicable for specific rental packages.
  • Dedicated Site Coordinator (for events): For larger events like weddings, a site coordinator from GSMISTS might be available to assist with logistics, site visits, and ensuring all arrangements are in order, as suggested by positive customer feedback for specific events.
  • Nature and Outdoor Access: As a 360-acre wooded property bordering the Flat River, the camp inherently offers access to natural spaces for outdoor activities, though specific access policies for private rentals (e.g., trail use) should be confirmed.

These services highlight Camp Anna Behrens's capacity to host diverse groups and events, leveraging its natural setting and dedicated facilities.

Camp Anna Behrens, while primarily a Girl Scout property, boasts several key features and highlights that make it a unique and appealing venue for various uses, particularly for those seeking a blend of natural beauty and functional event spaces in Michigan.

  • Expansive Natural Setting: The camp spans 360 acres of wooded land, providing a vast and serene environment. This natural backdrop is ideal for outdoor activities, offering a sense of escape and tranquility.
  • Flat River Border: A significant highlight is the camp's border along the Flat River. This natural feature enhances the scenic beauty of the property and may offer opportunities for river-based activities, depending on specific program or rental terms.
  • Sherwood Lodge: This is a prominent feature, described as a beautiful venue built from red pine timbers harvested from the site. It’s designed to accommodate large gatherings (225-250 people) and includes a large commercial kitchen. Its radiant heating system allows for year-round use, making it versatile for events regardless of the season. It also features two fireplaces, one indoors and one outdoors under a covered patio, adding to its rustic charm and ambiance.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the available public information, Camp Anna Behrens, as a property primarily managed by the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore (GSMISTS), operates under specific rental agreements and pricing structures rather than typical "promotions" for general camping. However, certain aspects of its operation can be seen as beneficial offerings:

  • Year-Round Availability for Rentals: A key advantage, particularly for event planners, is the year-round availability of facilities like Sherwood Lodge due to its radiant heating system. While not a "discount," this extended usability is a valuable feature for planning events outside of traditional warm-weather seasons, offering flexibility and potentially allowing for bookings during less competitive times.
  • Inclusive Event Rental Terms (for external groups): For private events like weddings, the rental structure might implicitly offer value. For example, one review mentions paying to rent for the night before as a "must" for wedding parties to ensure ample setup time. While this incurs a cost, it's a practical "offer" that provides necessary flexibility and convenience for major events.
  • Girl Scout Member Benefits: For Girl Scout troops and members, there are inherent "special offers" in accessing the camp's facilities as part of their programming and membership. This often includes specific rates or booking priority for various camp activities and overnight stays, which are distinct from external rentals.
  • Community Use Policy: While not a public campground, the availability of Camp Anna Behrens for external group rentals signifies a broader community offering. This allows local Michigan organizations, families, and businesses to utilize a well-maintained, unique property that might otherwise be exclusively for scouting activities.
  • Transparent Booking Process: Although specific promotional rates are not widely advertised, the GSMISTS website likely provides clear terms and conditions for facility rentals, including cancellation policies, insurance requirements, and access protocols. This transparency can be a "special offer" in itself, providing clarity for event planners.

For specific pricing, availability, and any potential group rates or package deals for events, it is essential to contact the Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore directly. They would be able to provide the most current and accurate information tailored to your specific needs, whether for a private event or Girl Scout-related activity.

Perfect wedding and reception location. Thanks to Lance for making sure all was in order. Beautiful venue. Most of wedding party gets dressed at a different location. For us it worked great. Hops off the bus and right into the ceremony. Dinner theater-style seating. Perfect! Paying to rent for the night before is a must!
