Hopkinton, RI 02873, USA
Introduction / Overview
As Rhode Islanders, we know the value of escaping the hustle of the metropolitan areas for the tranquility of the state’s natural woods and pristine shoreline. Campsite Audubon, tucked away in the serene, private lands of Hopkinton, offers an exclusive and unique camping experience that perfectly caters to a local desire for both seclusion and accessibility. This is not a massive, crowded campground; rather, it is described as a private backyard retreat, offering a level of peace and quiet that can be hard to find in the summer months.
The appeal of Campsite Audubon lies in its ability to offer a deeply personal and restorative escape. Picture a long summer week spent here—days are filled with the simple pleasures of hanging out by a robust fire pit, spending time in a cozy hammock beneath the tall trees, and the luxury of sleeping early in a quiet, natural environment. While the name “Audubon” might suggest a direct connection to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island (which manages beautiful wildlife refuges nearby, such as Long Pond Woods, where camping is typically prohibited), Campsite Audubon operates as a unique, private location that embraces the spirit of nature and local conservation efforts. It provides a unique blend of rustic environment and essential comforts, making it an excellent choice for Rhode Island locals who want to feel truly disconnected without sacrificing basic amenities.

This combination of deep woods seclusion with quick coastal access makes it an ideal “staycation” spot for the local community.

Perfect place to camp on a long summer week. Enjoy hanging out by the fire, making hammocks in a city, being nearing the dining hall/ bathrooms, and sleeping early. Recently though, I’ve been hearing these noises coming from the trees. These noises sound like a monkey but I think it’s just my imagination.
