It's located within a reasonable driving distance from major population centers in North Alabama, including Huntsville and Decatur. This allows for relatively straightforward navigation via state highways and local roads to Plymouth Rock Road, leading directly to the campground.
The balance between feeling remote and being practically close to amenities is a significant advantage. As confirmed by a visitor, "stores are not too far away if you find you forgot something and need to make a trip." This means that while you can fully immerse yourself in nature and enjoy uninterrupted stargazing, the convenience of reaching essential supplies or even a quick bite to eat is just a short drive away. This perfect blend of secluded tranquility and practical accessibility makes Charest Cove an excellent choice for Alabamians seeking a refreshing outdoor experience without feeling completely cut off from civilization. Charest Cove - Members Only focuses on providing a high-quality, minimalist camping experience, emphasizing nature, cleanliness, and peace. While it is not a full-service resort, the services offered are meticulously maintained to ensure guest comfort:
- Tent Camping Sites: The primary offering is designated tent camping sites, designed for an immersive outdoor experience. The exact number of sites may be limited to ensure privacy and prevent overcrowding.
- Fire Pits: Communal or individual fire pits are available, perfect for campfires, cooking, and gathering. Reviews mention "the middle fire pit and that left two," suggesting multiple options.
- Well-Maintained Port-a-Jon: Despite being a rustic setting, the port-a-Jon facilities are explicitly praised for being "very well-maintained," highlighting a commitment to cleanliness and guest comfort.
- Exclusive Access: As a "Members Only" campground, access is restricted, ensuring a private and uncrowded environment. Details on membership acquisition would be obtained directly from the owner.
- Owner Communication and Support: The owner is noted for "quick, thorough responses" and being "very nice and friendly as well as helpful," indicating excellent customer service and support during your stay.
- Trash Disposal: While not explicitly stated, proper waste disposal facilities are expected at any well-managed campground.
Given its focus on being a "quiet, relaxing place to camp without the over-crowding," it is less likely to offer extensive amenities such as bathhouses with hot showers, full RV hookups, or recreational facilities like playgrounds or swimming pools. The emphasis is on providing a pristine natural setting with essential, well-cared-for necessities.
Charest Cove - Members Only truly shines with its unique features and highlights, setting it apart as a premier private camping destination in Alabama:
- Exclusive & Uncrowded Environment: As a "Members Only" campground, privacy is paramount. The possibility of having the "entire place to ourselves," as one reviewer experienced, is an unparalleled luxury, ensuring a truly peaceful and personal connection with nature. This is perhaps its biggest highlight, offering a rare escape from typical crowded campgrounds.

- Excellent Fishing Opportunities: The presence of the river and the mention of bringing a "fishing pole" suggest good opportunities for angling directly from the campsite.
- Proximity to Necessities: Despite its secluded feel, the convenience of "stores not too far away" is a practical highlight, ensuring you can quickly grab forgotten items without disrupting your natural retreat.
Given that Charest Cove operates on a "Members Only" basis and emphasizes a private, uncrowded experience, traditional promotions or widely advertised "special offers" in the conventional sense are less likely to be its primary marketing strategy. The value proposition here is in the exclusivity, tranquility, and meticulous care of the property, which is often considered a premium feature in itself.
However, inquiries about specific membership tiers, seasonal access, or any potential booking advantages for long-term members would be best directed to the owner. It is possible that:
- Membership Benefits: Membership itself could be considered the "special offer," granting access to this unique, private camping experience. There might be different membership levels or annual fees that define access.
- Return Guest Incentives: While not explicitly stated, loyal members or repeat visitors might receive priority booking or special consideration.
- Off-Peak Availability: Due to its private nature, there might be more consistent availability during times when public campgrounds are fully booked, which could be seen as a benefit.
The best approach to understand how to gain access and what benefits are associated with membership at Charest Cove - Members Only would be to contact the owner directly. This aligns with the personalized service noted in the reviews. The primary "offer" is the unique opportunity to experience serene, private camping that is meticulously cared for.

5 big glittering, golden stars. This really was THE best camping spot I have ever been to (with ease of access). This privately-owned slice of Heaven is definitely going on my repeat list. With that being said, I need to admit that my first experience here was a singular one: NO ONE ELSE WAS ON THE GROUNDS! We took the middle fire pit and that left two, but I’m not sure how many total tent sites are considered to be here. We had the entire place to ourselves. And the weather was perfection. I don’t know how we got so lucky. The owner was fantastic, with quick, thorough responses. It is immediately evident that the grounds are not just cared-for, but loved. Also, and maybe not least important, the port-a-Jon is very well-maintained. Next time I come I’m bringing a fishing pole and my SLR with low-light lens.
The owner was very nice and friendly as well as helpful. Any questions I had were answered. The campground is very well maintained, peaceful, and a beautiful setting for quality time outdoors with family. My children, partner, and I all enjoyed the sunsets on the river, fishing, and being able to view the stars with out city lights. You truly feel as though you are away from the rest of the world, but in reality stores are not too far away if you find you forgot something and need to make a trip (learned from my own experience). If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to camp and wish without the over-crowding of some area campgrounds, this is absolutely the place you should visit.
Gorgeous campground with a stunning view! Our hosts were very responsive and helpful. We really enjoyed swimming in the river and watching the sunset. The spots are very spacious and our neighbors were quiet and friendly. The porta John was the cleanest I’d ever seen.
Discovered this amazing camping spot. Beautiful sunsets by the river. We had the whole location to ourselves and my dog loved being able to run around here and go for a swim. There are lots of solor lights placed around the 3 camping sites along with fire pits and even a portapotty. Picnic benches and 2 wooden swings to sit on. Lots of fishing spots so bring your poles.
By far the most peaceful place my husband and I have camped, was the best nights sleep I have had in years. Clean and very well maintained, far surpassed any of our expectations. We will definitely be back!!!!!
