Location and Accessibility

Codgers Cove is ideally situated at 5912 County Rd 6 SW, Howard Lake, MN 55349, USA. This prime location offers the best of both worlds: a serene lakeside setting that feels like a true escape, yet remains remarkably accessible to major metropolitan areas of Minnesota.

  • Proximity to Major Cities:
    • From Minneapolis: Codgers Cove is approximately 43 miles west of Minneapolis, a drive of less than an hour via US-12 W. This makes it an incredibly convenient destination for Twin Cities residents looking for a quick weekend getaway without extensive travel.
    • From St. Cloud: The resort is also about 44 miles south of St. Cloud, making it easily reachable for campers from the central Minnesota region.
    • From Rochester: Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes (about 140 miles) via US-52 N and I-94 W.
  • Local Access: The park is just a short drive from Highway 12, a main thoroughfare. Directions typically involve going north on County Road 6 from Highway 12 for about a quarter-mile. It's important to note there is an 11'7" height-restricted bridge on County Road 6, so large RVs should call ahead for alternative directions if needed.
  • Surrounding Area: Howard Lake itself is a charming town that offers basic amenities including a hardware store, bait shop, post office, municipal liquor store, and various restaurants and retail stores, all just a quarter-mile from the resort. Features / Highlights

  • Lakefront Location with Dock Area: With over 1,100 feet of lakeshore on 11 acres, the resort boasts a beautiful green space, paved roads, and an expansive dock area for fishing and boat slips. This direct access to Howard Lake is a major draw for water enthusiasts.
  • Good Fishing Lake: Howard Lake is known for good fishing, especially for panfish, walleye, northern pike, bass, and perch, with great success from the docks. This is a significant highlight for anglers.

Facilities are fantastic (super clean). The permanent campers are wonderfully friendly. There are not a lot of weekend campsites, and the beach is pretty dirty (some sort of blue algae), but overall, it's a great place to camp. Oh, and be prepared for the train nearby.

The management here does a great job of upkeep and also regularly runs events that keeps everyone involved. Great views of the lake and close to the Orphans games and the fair! They have a rentable pontoon boat that's super nice, as well as a cute gift shop. Small beach, and a playground for the kids, too! The only bummer is the weeds taking over the lake but it's not anyone's fault.
