Promotions or Special Offers

As a state recreation area managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Cottonwood Campground's pricing and any "promotions" are generally tied to the state park system's fee structure. While specific, short-term commercial discounts are not typical, there are established benefits and ways to make your visit more economical for locals:

  • Nebraska State Park Entry Permit: A valid Nebraska State Park Entry Permit is required for all vehicles entering Two Rivers SRA. Locals can purchase an annual permit ($35 for a Nebraska Licensed Vehicle; $17.50 for a duplicate annual permit), which offers significant savings for frequent visits throughout the year compared to the daily permit ($7 per day).
  • Competitive Nightly Rates: Camping fees for sites at Cottonwood Campground generally fall within the state park range of $15-$25 per night, depending on the type of hookups (electric only or electric plus water). These rates are competitive for the amenities and location provided.
  • Reservations Available: Half of the electrical campsites at Two Rivers SRA (including Cottonwood) are reservable up to one year in advance. This is a crucial "offer" for securing a desirable spot, especially during peak season and weekends when the park is popular. Other sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Caboose Cabin Rentals: While an extra cost, the unique caboose cabins can be seen as a special offering, providing a different kind of lodging experience that is often sought after.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on entry permit costs, camping fees, reservation policies, and any seasonal programs or events, it is always recommended to check the official Nebraska Game and Parks Commission website (OutdoorNebraska.gov) or contact the park directly.

I recommend other campgrounds like Oak Grove or Goldenrod, which have traditional back-in with more privacy and easier access. CONS: The side pull-in entires here are awkward here, unless you want the river's edge sites, which are VERY sandy. The water spigot was blocked off with a chain so we had to decamp and drive over to Day Use Area to refill water tanks. Campground is also under construction in summer 2023 so lots of big piles of sand to navigate bikes around, and several sites are flooded. PROS: quiet campground and very nice neighbors, lots of frogs for kids to catch, nice view of Platte River.

Very nice campground. Lots of shade, big sites easy to park in parallel paved sites, no need to back in. Clean shower house. 20, 30, 50 amp power. We are planning to go back there. Reservations are only taken 30 days in advanced, an inconvenience when we need 3 sites together and we are coming in from multiple states.
