Nestled in the rolling countryside of Jewett City, Connecticut, Countryside Campground stands out as a unique and treasured destination for RV enthusiasts. Often hailed by locals as "Connecticut's Best Kept Secret," this park offers a pristine, well-maintained retreat that prioritizes a quiet, relaxing, and woodsy atmosphere over the hustle and bustle of a large resort. It is specifically designed as an RV-only facility, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience for motorhome, fifth wheel, and travel trailer owners.
Countryside Campground is the perfect choice for the discerning Connecticut couple, family, or solo traveler who values spacious sites, a serene environment, and essential amenities. Visitors consistently praise the friendly, hands-on owners for creating a welcoming environment and maintaining immaculate grounds. Unlike campgrounds that pack sites tightly, Countryside provides spacious, level sites with plenty of room between neighbors, offering the privacy that true relaxation demands. Whether you are looking for a weekend escape or a full seasonal hook-up from May through October, this campground offers a genuine break from urban life, all while being close enough for a convenient weekend getaway.
The core appeal is its beautiful, woodsy setting combined with the peace of mind of secure, full-service RV sites. As a customer review highlights, if you seek a "quiet family or couple," and want a "relaxing, beautiful, woodsy site for any size RV, this place is perfect." The experience is one of genuine tranquility and high-quality, personal service, even extending to the highly unexpected and thoughtful care of a resident’s dog during an unexpected emergency.
Countryside Campground is conveniently situated at 75 Cook Hill Rd, Jewett City, CT 06351, USA. Although the setting is remote and secluded—which contributes greatly to its peaceful ambiance—its location in Griswold/Jewett City, CT, places it within easy striking distance of the region’s major points of interest.
The campground offers a "remote enough to be a welcome break from urban life, but close enough to enjoy any weekend." For local campers, this means minimizing travel time while maximizing relaxation. The proximity to Interstate 395 makes the campground easily accessible from all points in Connecticut, as well as from neighboring Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Within a short drive, visitors can access the very best of Southeastern Connecticut. Area attractions include the world-famous Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, the historic charm of Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium, and the natural beauty of Ocean Beach Park. Essential shopping and dining options are just minutes away at Lisbon Landing, allowing for quick supply runs. The campground also sits near major state forests and parks, such as Pachaug State Forest, providing immediate access to extensive hiking and biking opportunities in the Connecticut wilderness. While the road driving in may be slightly “awkward” as one reviewer noted, it is entirely “drivable and manageable,” and well worth the journey to reach this quiet hideaway.

We stayed here once before and decided to come back because it’s such a nice, secluded campground with great owners. The lady owner escorted us back to a quiet pull-thru where we had no one in front of us for the 5 days we were there. The water and electric worked fine. WiFi was inconsistent but we used our own hotspot. We had to go to the ER one day and so we left a key to our coach at the office. Turns out, they came by and not only looked in on our dog but took her outside and made sure she was taken care of. Very thoughtful of them and unexpected. Highly recommended.
Jul 27, 2023 · Steve SWe love Countryside. There are basics: sewer, electric, water. Internet is spotty. There are few amenities - no activities for kids. That being said, if you are a quiet family or couple, and want a relaxing, beautiful, woodsy site for any size RV, this place is perfect. Our 47' toy hauler fits beautifully, and the site is spacious. It really is a gorgeous area. The road driving in is a little awkward, but it is drivable and manageable.
Apr 25, 2022 · Hop Pin And GoI have gone to many campgrounds, and this is by far one of the best, its also beautifully maintained and clean. The sites are big, you are not on top of each other. The seasonal campers are awesome. They have so many beautiful sites. The owners are great. If you like a quiet peaceful scene. This is the place to go, also if you want to have some action, The casinos and shows are twenty minutes away. It's the best of both worlds. my husband and I love it and highly recommend it!
Jun 04, 2017 · Virginia CoppolaThis place is such a gem. If you are looking for the ultimate peace and quiet in a countryside setting, this is your place. The owners and their family members were all so friendly and welcoming. Impeccably clean and well maintained park-like setting with very large sites. Bonus: hiking trails at the back of the property. Double bonus: dog friendly. We absolutely loved our stay here.
Jun 20, 2022 · Elizabeth GannonThis is my opinion and should be taken as such. Gotta say that this is one of my favorite spots in CT. Have never heard of it prior to this trip. Wooded, pretty large sites. And holy smokes it is a QUIET campground. Nice little fishing pond, lots of fish for the kids. Sites were clean. Owner s were fantastic to deal with. Super nice. My one star review would be for the store. Didn't have a lot to offer. In the grand scheme of things I would definitely come back. As a matter of fact I've been told we just booked for next year.
