Crooked Creek Recreation Area, while being a publicly managed facility, doesn't typically offer "promotions" in the same vein as commercial campgrounds with loyalty programs or seasonal discounts. However, its pricing structure and value proposition serve as an ongoing "special offer" for locals.
Daily rates for campsites generally range from approximately $20 to $30, with some sources indicating a rate of $20 per car for entry, while other reviews mention $5 per person. It's always best to verify the most current daily rates directly with the recreation area, as these can be subject to change. The affordability of these rates, especially for full hookup sites or access to such extensive recreational facilities, makes it a highly competitive option for a day trip or an overnight stay compared to many private campgrounds.
Any "special offers" would likely be seasonal events or community programs hosted by the Evangeline Parish Police Jury or local organizations, rather than discounts on camping fees. These events might include fishing tournaments, local festivals, or holiday celebrations, which enhance the overall experience without directly altering the cost of entry or camping. We recommend checking their official phone number or local community event listings for any such occurrences. The true value at Crooked Creek Recreation Area lies in its consistent, affordable access to a wide array of outdoor activities and a well-maintained natural environment for a reasonable fee.
To get the most up-to-date information on availability, current rates, specific site details, or any park regulations, it is always recommended to contact Crooked Creek Recreation Area directly.

For Louisianans seeking an authentic and accessible outdoor experience, Crooked Creek Recreation Area is an outstanding choice that truly caters to our unique preferences and lifestyle. Its prime location in Ville Platte, deep within Cajun Country, means it's often a convenient drive for many across the state, particularly those in the central and southwest regions. This proximity allows for easy weekend getaways or even spontaneous day trips, without the lengthy travel often associated with more distant destinations.
The core appeal for locals lies in the balance Crooked Creek strikes between offering essential amenities and preserving a natural, engaging environment. We appreciate places where we can bring our boats and jet skis, and the large 400-acre lake with its boat launch is a significant draw. It’s a place where families can teach kids to fish, enjoy a refreshing swim on a hot Louisiana day at the well-maintained sandy beach, or simply relax by the water, taking in the serene surroundings. The availability of working restrooms and showers, even if not five-star, meets a crucial need for comfortable camping, while the option for both RV and tent camping accommodates various preferences.
While some past experiences might mention minor issues like playground equipment or crowded periods, these are often typical of popular recreational spots. The overwhelmingly positive sentiment about the lake's beauty and cleanliness, along with the welcoming atmosphere, outweighs these small concerns for most locals. We understand and embrace the vibrant, sometimes boisterous, nature of communal gatherings, especially on sunny days when families are out enjoying themselves. The affordable pricing further cements its suitability, providing excellent value for the extensive recreational opportunities available. Crooked Creek Recreation Area isn't just a place to visit; it’s a place to create cherished family memories, reconnect with the water, and celebrate the joyful outdoor spirit that defines Louisiana life. It’s a natural fit for our local appreciation of good times, good company, and the beautiful, bayou-kissed landscapes we call home.

We LOVE crooked creek. We just recently went on our annual family camping trip there and had so much fun. There's a loading dock for you to bring your boats or jetskis. There's a few playgrounds, but some of them have broken equipment. The bathrooms aren't the cleanest, but HEY, THEY HAVE WORKING BATHROOMS! The beach is a nice size, and I noticed they've been keeping it very well taken care of and being cleaned daily. Highly recommend this place!
Tried this place out after going to Indian Creek for 7 years. Very poor! Super messy. No grills. Bathroom was is 1/4 mile from the public beach which was tiny and full of people and others driving around blaring music in their cars and not at all peaceful. Misbehaving kids starting fights at the beach and near the bathrooms too. Plus we had to pay $5 per person instead of $5 a car at the other place that is so much nicer. No thanks !
this place is so incredibly racist. my family and i were "banned for life" in a horribly escalated situation that absolutely did not need to happen. the manager is a bully, a racist, he refused to give us our money back (25$ while every other lake was free). he called the police on me alone, a young black female as he YELLED in my face about outrageous accusations of "speeding", telling me to leave while i was waiting for my family to arrive for my birthday party and i never got to spend a single minute in the park before this manager and those racist police officers ganged up on me and my family.
The only thing bad was that the shower was out of order. I hope they fix the small things that are wrong. It's a very nice place.
Decent place, but be warned no dogs over 30lbs. Didn’t use or go to any facilities on site, was almost full with campers and the lake was nice… the lady at the gate was kind enough to let me in with my dog due to travel time!
