Paddler's Village About
For Michigan residents dreaming of an unforgettable adventure amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Upper Peninsula, Paddler's Village in Christmas, Michigan, offers a distinctive and highly appealing option. This isn't your average campground; it's a modern camping resort designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind, offering unique glamping accommodations that blend comfort with an immersive natural experience. Strategically located near Munising and the majestic Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Paddler's Village serves as the perfect base camp for exploring some of Michigan's most iconic landscapes and thrilling activities.
What sets Paddler's Village apart is its commitment to providing a comfortable yet adventurous stay. Guests consistently praise the "very nice" yurts and the convenience of "full bathrooms and fire pits." While some reviews mention the proximity to a busy road causing noise and the close proximity of units, the overall sentiment points to a "highly recommend" and enjoyable experience. The campground is part of the Uncle Ducky Outdoors family, which means it's intrinsically linked to a wealth of outdoor adventures, including guided kayak tours of Pictured Rocks and Grand Island dinner cruises. This connection ensures that guests not only have a great place to stay but also easy access to incredible, well-organized excursions, making their Michigan outdoor vacation truly seamless and unforgettable.
Paddler's Village boasts an exceptional location that acts as a prime gateway to the wonders of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. You'll find this unique resort campground at Scrooge's Alley, Munising, MI 49862, USA. While the address lists Munising, it's specifically located in the charming and uniquely named town of Christmas, Michigan, just a short distance west of Munising proper. This placement ensures superb accessibility for Michiganders traveling from various parts of the state.
The campground's position near M-28, a major highway through the Upper Peninsula, facilitates easy arrival and departure, allowing you to maximize your time enjoying the surroundings rather than navigating complex routes. What truly elevates its location, however, is its direct connection to Lake Superior. Paddler's Village is situated right on Lake Superior, offering immediate access to a "sandy Lake Superior beach." This means you can walk from your lodging directly to the pristine waters, perfect for relaxing, swimming, or launching your kayak or paddleboard.
Furthermore, its proximity to Munising means you are mere minutes away from the main access points for Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, including departure points for boat tours and guided kayaking trips that delve into the iconic cliffs, waterfalls, and sea caves. The convenience of being able to book these adventures and even dine at The Duck Pond Eatery & Beer Garden (also part of the Uncle Ducky Outdoors family) within such close range makes Paddler's Village an incredibly convenient hub. Whether your goal is to explore the natural grandeur of the region or simply relax by the lake, Paddler's Village offers a superbly situated and accessible base for your Michigan adventure.

Paddler's Village, as part of the Uncle Ducky Outdoors/Paddling Michigan family, frequently offers a variety of enticing vacation packages that bundle lodging with their signature outdoor adventures. These packages often present a significant value compared to booking each component separately. While specific deals can change seasonally, here’s what you can generally expect:
All-Inclusive Vacation Packages: This is the primary form of "promotion" at Paddler's Village. Packages combine lodging (often in yurts, tipis, or safari tents at Paddler's Village or Au Train Beach Campground) with guided Pictured Rocks kayak tours, Grand Island boat cruises (including dinner cruises), and sometimes even canoeing trips on the Au Train River. Many packages also include meals at The Duck Pond Eatery & Beer Garden.
Early Booking Discounts: It's common for tour operators and lodging providers in popular tourist areas like Munising to offer incentives for booking well in advance, especially for peak season dates. While not explicitly stated as a constant promotion, this is a general strategy to consider for better rates and availability.
Seasonal Sales: Keep an eye on their website or social media channels for potential seasonal sales, such as "20% OFF 2025 SUMMER SALE" promotions that have been advertised for various vacation packages. These sales can offer substantial savings on multi-day adventure experiences.
Variety of Package Tiers: Paddling Michigan offers different package tiers (e.g., Explorer, Travelers, Painted Coves, Northern Lights Tipi, Lake Superior Vacation Package) designed to fit various budgets and adventure preferences, allowing you to customize your experience and find a deal that suits your needs.
Last-Minute Availability: While not a guaranteed promotion, if you have flexibility, sometimes contacting them closer to your desired dates might reveal last-minute openings or special rates, though this is less common for highly sought-after glamping units.
To discover the most current and specific promotions, including detailed pricing and inclusions for their all-inclusive packages, it is highly recommended to visit the official Paddling Michigan website (which encompasses Paddler's Village) or contact them directly.

Customer Reviews
The yurts were very nice, and the full bathrooms and fire pits were great. There was a little confusion about how many people could fit in a yurt. Also, the yurts were right next to a busy road, which was noisy. Otherwise, it was a very nice place.
I was nervous as I read online that sometimes you book a yurt on the beach and you get something else. I am happy to report we got the yurt we booked and loved it. The only suggestion we have for them is to enforce quite hours. The tents/yurts are very close to each other, so you can hear every conversation. At night if someone is "partying", that's really bothersome. Highly recommend it, and would stay again.
About 15 of us go on our yearly ‘Viking camping’ here at uncle duckies paddler village. We wait all year for this adventure!! We rent 1-4 Yurts and we also got a cabin last year. The first year was about 13• on average and the next year was a little bit warmer. 23•-40• we go in January or February. Everyone was so kind to us and the grounds keepers took very good care of everyone!!! The bathrooms were heated and very clean! The yurts were so cozy, clean, and warm! Everything was plowed for our vehicles and pathways. (There’s usually 3+ feet of snow On the ground when we come up here) They always put in so much work to the place and just as much care for their guests. I cannot recommend This place enough! It’s magical! I hope they are open for the winter in 2021!!!
Staying in the yurt was AWESOME. My husband and I did this as a little weekend getaway and it was perfect. The yurts are private, really well kept, clean, and super cozy. Each one has a bed, table, mini fridge, rug, outdoor chairs, picnic table, and a firepit with ADORABLE hanging bulb lighting strung throughout the grounds. Bathrooms are nearby and super clean also (with running water and real toilets)! My only complaint would be the proximity of the yurts to one another. We did not open our yurt windows because we could see into our neighbors when they also had their windows open, so that was a bit awkward. Overall, it was a great experience and we look forward to returning!
Paddler's Village was a great place for us to stay in the UP. We stayed in the Caribou yurt, which is closer to the road. Despite being closer to the road we were all able to sleep well at night. The yurt was also very close to the IMMACULATE bathrooms and showers. The actual yurt had a bunk bed (full bottom/twin top), a full pull out futon, table with two chairs, small fridge, and a coat rack. The yurt was a good size and was clean. Make sure to bring your own bedding! The campground was very well maintained, including the small beach at the campsite. We did not interact with staff too often but when we did they were always warm and courteous. When we were struggling with getting a fire started they even offered us some lighter fluid.
