Promotions or Special Offers

Crows Creek Campground, being part of the Clay County Parks system and operating within the larger Smithville Lake recreation area, generally adheres to standardized pricing structures for its campsites. As such, it typically does not offer "promotions or special offers" in the way a private commercial business might. The value proposition is primarily derived from its consistent quality, extensive amenities, and access to a wide array of recreational activities at state/county park rates.

However, potential "offers" or value-added aspects for campers might include:

  • Affordable Public Land Camping: The standard nightly rates for electric/water and electric-only sites at Crows Creek are generally more affordable compared to many privately owned RV resorts, providing inherent value for budget-conscious campers.
  • Group Reservations: While not a discount, the campground allows for groups of 10 sites or more to be reserved together. This facilitates large group campouts, like the "yearly group campout" mentioned in reviews, by making coordination easier.
  • Annual Passes: For frequent visitors to Smithville Lake and other Clay County Parks facilities, purchasing an annual vehicle pass or combo pass can provide savings on daily entrance fees, effectively reducing the overall cost of multiple visits to Crows Creek and other park areas.
  • Seasonal Availability: The campground operates seasonally (typically April 1 to October 31, with variations for off-season) offering a consistent, reliable window for outdoor adventures each year, allowing locals to plan recurring trips.

This is a lovely campground. The sites are big and you really feel as if you have your own space. Light a fire and visit with friends. No sewer, but has water and electricity. You see kids on bicycles having fun with their friends. They are polite and is great how their out and about enjoying themselves. Mostly adults though.

Way better than Camp Branch but that isn't saying much. The camp hosts do the bare minimum to make campers feel welcomed and comfortable. Since there is no one in the booth until 11 am, you aren't getting your vehicle pass, trash bag, rules and regulations I guess all the aforementioned is subject to variations. The atmosphere at Smithville has declined in recent years. The shores are littered with trash. The whole experience was really disappointing.

Out of staters and travelers beware. I have a sense this is only a place the locals have learned to maneuver through the nuance of bureaucratic nonsense. Clay County Missouri, you can do better. I live in Clay County, my in-laws travel the country from Alaska to Main and they stayed at Crows Creek to visit us this week. Crows Creek hits their top 5 most miserable campground experiences. They always call when they book a place (just of that generation). First, Crows Creek said they have "Full Hookup". Nope, they only have electricity available. They also said they are retirement and handicap "friendly". Nope, you'll pay full price regardless of age and there is no effort to help those that are disabled (veteran) to have better experiences. The staff is inconsiderate, totally indifferent and inflexible, and downright rude to customers. We went to the campground to pick them up to take them to dinner one night, the park wouldn't let us go a quarter-mile into the park to simply pick them up without paying their entrance fee. My disabled in-laws had to drive out to meet us outside of the park entry gate. Then we were told we couldn't park at the gate (even though there was plenty of parking available) so we could ride in the same vehicle. We've picked them up at dozens of RV parks over the years around the country, this is the first time park staff didn't smile and give us a nod-and-a-wink to let us simply drive in, pick them up, and drive out. I live and pay my taxes in Clay County, we can do better than this!

5 out of 5, however, dozens of cigarette butts around. I'm a smoker and find it disgusting when people do this. Otherwise, bathrooms were immaculate, spaces were large and easy to maneuver.
