This highly-rated ACE campground has garnered praise from visitors for its remarkable value, cleanliness, and thoughtful amenities, making it a top choice for RVers and campers seeking a peaceful and well-equipped outdoor retreat.

Damsite Campground is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s an experience designed to enhance your connection with nature while providing all the necessary comforts. Imagine pulling into a site so level you might not even need your leveling blocks, with easy access to power, water, and sewer hookups. This attention to detail, coupled with ample space between sites, ensures a sense of privacy and tranquility that can be hard to find in other campgrounds.

What truly sets Damsite apart is its commitment to providing a quality experience. Visitors consistently highlight the cleanliness of the sites, the convenience of the full hookups, and the well-maintained facilities. While some reviews mention minor issues with bathrooms, the overall consensus points to a campground that strives for excellence, particularly for those with full hookup capabilities in their RVs. The beautiful surroundings, including views of the dam and opportunities to observe local wildlife, further elevate the experience, cementing its reputation as a place where you can truly relax and enjoy the Kansas outdoors.

For those considering a visit, Damsite Campground promises a peaceful atmosphere, stunning sunsets, and the chance to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with loved ones or nature. It’s a destination that many campers would "definitely go back" to, and once you experience its charm, you'll understand why. Let's delve deeper into what makes Damsite Campground a standout choice for your next Kansas adventure.

Damsite Campground is conveniently located at 27th St, Fall River, KS 67047, USA, positioning it within the scenic vicinity of Fall River Lake. This location makes it an accessible and appealing destination for campers and RVers across Kansas, offering a beautiful natural setting without being too remote.

Accessing Damsite Campground is generally straightforward, though an important note on navigation exists for those towing campers. Visitors are strongly advised not to attempt crossing the old bridge that connects the two sides of the campground, as it has low height and weight restrictions (estimated around 3 tons). Instead, campers should plan to "cross using the road that goes over the dam to get to the other side." This crucial piece of local knowledge ensures a safe and hassle-free arrival, especially for larger RVs or those towing trailers.

While some gravel roads may be encountered on the approach, reviewers confirm that these "were not a problem at all," indicating that they are well-maintained enough for various vehicle types. This ease of access, combined with its location near Fall River Lake, makes Damsite an attractive option for those looking to enjoy lake activities such as fishing or simply soaking in the views.

Once inside the campground, the layout contributes to its appeal. The sites are well-distributed, offering "a ton of space between the sites," which enhances privacy and a sense of peaceful seclusion. This thoughtful design, along with its location, ensures that Damsite Campground provides a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the Fall River area and enjoying the natural beauty of Kansas. Its proximity to the dam also offers unique opportunities for wildlife viewing and enjoying the serene sounds of the water.

Damsite Campground, being an ACE (Army Corps of Engineers) campground, is known for providing a high standard of essential services and amenities for campers, particularly those in RVs. These include:

  • Full Hookup Sites: Many sites offer full hookups, including good power, water, and sewer connections. This is a significant convenience for RVers, allowing for extended stays with all necessary utilities.
  • Level Campsites: Visitors consistently praise the campsites for being remarkably level, often eliminating the need for leveling blocks, which simplifies the setup process.
  • Clean and Well-Maintained Sites: Individual campsites are noted for their cleanliness, featuring a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and a prep table at each site, indicating attention to detail and camper comfort.
  • Bathroom Facilities: Bathrooms are available and generally reported to be clean and functional, on par with other ACE campgrounds, though some reviews mention minor inconsistencies.
  • Spacious Sites: There is "a ton of space between the sites," ensuring privacy and a sense of openness for campers.
  • Dam Access and Views: While not a direct "service," the campground's proximity to the dam offers unique views and opportunities to sit on benches and watch wildlife.

Damsite Campground boasts several outstanding features and highlights that contribute to its reputation as a "hidden gem" in Kansas:

  • Exceptional Value: At "under $30 all in" for full hookups, Damsite offers a truly great value, making it an incredibly affordable option for high-quality RV camping in Kansas. This low price point for comprehensive amenities is a significant draw.
  • Full Hookup Convenience: The availability of "good power, water, and sewer hookups" at many sites is a major highlight, providing unparalleled convenience for RVers and ensuring a comfortable stay without the need for constant utility management.
  • Spacious and Private Sites: The "ton of space between the sites" is a key feature, guaranteeing privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Campers can enjoy their surroundings without feeling overcrowded, enhancing the sense of a true escape.
  • Level Campsites: The sites are often so level that campers "didn’t bother getting the leveling blocks out," a minor but highly appreciated convenience that simplifies setup and allows for immediate enjoyment.
  • Well-Equipped Individual Sites: Each site comes thoughtfully equipped with a "nice picnic table, fire ring, grill, and prep table." These amenities elevate the camping experience, making outdoor cooking and dining a breeze.
  • Beautiful Scenery and Sunsets: The campground offers beautiful lake views and is renowned for its "beautiful sunsets," providing a stunning natural backdrop for evening relaxation and photography.
  • Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: Sitting on benches by the dam offers chances to "watching the wildlife," adding an element of nature observation to the camping experience.
  • Quiet Atmosphere: The campground is described as "mostly quiet," appealing to those who seek tranquility and a break from urban noise during their outdoor getaway.

As an Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) campground, Damsite Campground operates with a focus on providing public recreational access at a reasonable cost, rather than offering traditional commercial promotions or seasonal sales. However, its pricing structure and consistent offerings can be considered an ongoing "special offer" for local Kansans seeking value.

  • Consistent Low Price for Full Hookups: The most significant "promotion" is the consistently low price, noted by a reviewer as "under $30 all in" for a site with power, water, and sewer hookups. This represents an exceptional value for money, making it one of the most affordable options for full-service RV camping in the region. This competitive pricing is a permanent draw.
  • ACE Pass Discounts: While not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, it's common for ACE campgrounds to offer discounts for holders of various federal interagency passes (such as the America the Beautiful Pass for seniors or access for disabled individuals). Locals who qualify for these passes should inquire, as this could lead to even greater savings.
  • Reliable Quality for the Price: The consistent feedback about clean sites, good hookups, and well-maintained general facilities at such a low price point effectively acts as a constant "special offer," guaranteeing a reliable and pleasant experience without unexpected costs.

Potential campers are advised to check the official Recreation.gov website (which manages reservations for most ACE campgrounds) or directly contact Damsite Campground using the provided phone numbers. While specific limited-time promotions are rare, they can confirm current pricing, availability, and any general discounts that may apply. The inherent value of Damsite Campground, with its comprehensive amenities at an affordable rate, is its perpetual "special offer" to the Kansas community.

It is highly recommended to call ahead, especially to confirm site availability and to get the most up-to-date information regarding road conditions, particularly the warning about the old bridge. These numbers connect to the managing authority for the campground, likely the Army Corps of Engineers office for the Fall River Lake area, and they can provide essential details to ensure a smooth and enjoyable visit.

Damsite Campground is an outstanding choice and particularly well-suited for locals in Kansas, especially those who own RVs or enjoy comfortable camping with essential amenities. Its status as an ACE campground, combined with positive visitor feedback, highlights its value as a premier local destination.

Firstly, the exceptional value for money is a huge draw. At "under $30 all in" for full hookups (power, water, and sewer), Damsite offers a level of convenience and affordability that is hard to beat in the region. This makes it an ideal option for budget-conscious campers who don't want to compromise on essential comforts, allowing for more frequent and longer stays.

The quality of the individual sites is another significant advantage. With "level" spaces that often don't require leveling blocks, and the inclusion of a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and prep table, each site is well-equipped for a hassle-free and enjoyable camping experience. This attention to detail simplifies the setup process, letting campers immediately relax and enjoy their surroundings. The "ton of space between the sites" also ensures privacy and a peaceful atmosphere, which is highly valued by those seeking a quiet escape.

Furthermore, the location near the dam offers unique opportunities for relaxation and wildlife observation. Sitting by the dam and watching nature unfold provides a serene backdrop to any camping trip. While cell service might be spotty, this can be seen as a positive, encouraging campers to disconnect from digital distractions and reconnect with each other through games, conversations, or simply enjoying the natural surroundings. The "beautiful sunsets" are an added bonus, creating memorable evenings.

In conclusion, Damsite Campground is a perfect fit for Kansans looking for a clean, well-equipped, and affordable camping experience, particularly for RVers. Its combination of practical amenities, spacious sites, and natural beauty makes it a reliable and highly recommended spot for repeated visits. It truly is a "hidden gem" that locals should take full advantage of for their outdoor adventures.

A hidden gem! This ACE campground doesn’t disappoint! We parked here overnight and the site was so level we didn’t bother getting the leveling blocks out. The site was clean and had good power, water, and sewer hookups. The bathrooms were on par with other ACE campgrounds and work fine and clean. There was a ton of space between the sites. Nice picnic table, fire ring, grill, and prep table at the site. A great value at under $30 all in. I would stay here again! Please don’t try to cross the old bridge that connects the two sides of the campground especially if you are towing a camper. There is a low height and 3 tons (I think) weight restriction. Be sure to cross using the road that goes over the dam to get to the other side. Expect to drive on some gravel roads. They were not a problem at all.

We loved our experience. Campground and sites were super neat and clean. Bathrooms were iffy. But it our site was full hookup so it didn't matter to us. Loved sitting on the benches by the dam watching the wildlife. Wish we would have bought a fishing license. Cell service is horrible but that just meant we were able to enjoy each other and play games. Would definitely go back.

I did not camp here but I did stop by to fish for a few hours under the bridge. They had some pretty good sized gar and quite a few turtles. Great place, well maintained, a clean and relatively bug free outhouse. The camp host was super nice and helpful.

This is a wonderfully quiet and peaceful small campground. However, you will have no Internet or phone service unless you go to the top of the dam - a great place for you and the kids to unplug.
