Customer Reviews
I tent camped here 2 nights. July 2024. Due to road closure on both ends of this section of the parkway the campground was 99% empty. Very quiet. The bathrooms were spotless. Many varieties of sites from heavily wooded to open field. Good cell service in loops b and c. My new favorite camping spot. No showers. No camp store. Firewood $20 for 3 bundles. Go here if you want rustic quiet camping.
Nice camping area off Blue Ridge Parkway. Lots of beautiful scenery nearby, plenty of hiking trails, clean facilities, access by drive to a couple cute little historic towns.
This campground is open even though the Blue Ridge parkway is closed north and south of the site. Only way to access is along North Carolina Highway 18. First of all, this campsite was nearly empty on the weekday that I was there. I'm guessing it's because of the closures on the Blue Ridge parkway. But the bathrooms are still maintained and very clean, and over 100 tent sites to choose from. You might want to give it a try if you need a little peace and quiet. The campsite tables are very old and worn, but they still function. That is the only reason I didn't give the site a Five Star rating.
We arrived the last weekend they were open and had the place mostly to ourselves- it’s was amazing. It took a while to find a spot that our van would fit in, but it worked out. The one thing that is important to note, there are *very few* bathrooms, so be prepared for that. The park is extensive and beautiful, with trails that will keep you occupied for days. The views are amazing, too. We will definitely be back next year 🌲🌳
Spent the night here motocamping. Great spot. Park was basically empty due to construction on the Blue Ridge so had my pick of sites. Peggy helped me check in and was super nice. $30 a night for tent spot. Make sure you bring food with you cause i forgot and had to drive almost an hour round trip for hot dogs thanks to my poor planning.
