Enfield KOA About

Greetings, North Carolinians and travelers passing through our beautiful state! If you're planning a road trip along Interstate 95 or simply looking for a comfortable and convenient place to enjoy the great outdoors in Eastern North Carolina, then the Enfield KOA Journey might be just what you're seeking. This article will provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of this campground, helping you decide if it's the right fit for your next adventure from a local's perspective.

A campground is a designated area for recreational camping, offering various types of sites and amenities to accommodate different preferences, from RVers to tent campers and cabin stays. KOA, or Kampgrounds of America, is a well-known franchise system, and the Enfield KOA is specifically categorized as a "KOA Journey." KOA Journey campgrounds are designed with travelers in mind, offering easy access from major highways and providing essential amenities for a comfortable overnight or short-term stay. They are known for their pull-through RV sites, making it convenient for even the largest rigs to maneuver. The Enfield KOA aims to deliver on this promise of convenience. While reviews indicate it has a "rustic" charm with "gravel surfaces with spots of grass here and there," it also consistently receives praise for its "clean and brightly lit" restrooms, which is a top priority for many campers. The "welcome center is classic KOA A-frame," offering a familiar and inviting first impression. Positive feedback frequently highlights the staff's helpfulness, with one reviewer noting, "The staff was very helpful. The next day they asked how I was," showcasing a friendly and caring approach. However, some reviews mention "poorly maintained" surrounding areas, "signs of algae on the ice machine and weeds in the play area," which suggests that while core amenities like restrooms are well-kept, some peripheral areas might benefit from more consistent attention. Despite this, its primary strength lies in being an "easy to find" and "very conveniently located next to I-95" stop for travelers, offering a good size and flat site for a comfortable rest.

Enfield KOA is strategically located at 101 Bell Acres, Enfield, NC 27823, USA. This prime address places it directly off Interstate 95, making it an incredibly convenient stop for those traveling long distances through North Carolina. Enfield itself is a small town in Halifax County, providing a quieter atmosphere compared to larger metropolitan areas, yet offering essential local services. For travelers, the direct access to I-95 is a significant advantage, minimizing detours and maximizing travel efficiency. While Enfield is a smaller community, it serves as a gateway to several notable attractions in the surrounding Halifax County and beyond. Within a short drive, campers can explore Historic Halifax, where the Halifax Resolves were signed, predating the Declaration of Independence. Outdoor enthusiasts can visit Medoc Mountain State Park for hiking, biking, and paddling. For a unique experience, the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park and Eco-Center in nearby Scotland Neck offers an incredible collection of birds. Local businesses in Enfield, such as Aunt Ruby's Peanuts, also offer a taste of authentic North Carolina. Navigation to the campground is straightforward from I-95, taking Exit 154 for Highway 481. This location makes Enfield KOA an ideal base for exploring the rich history and natural beauty of northeastern North Carolina, or simply a comfortable and accessible overnight stop on a longer journey.

Enfield KOA, as a Kampgrounds of America property, provides a range of services designed to enhance the camping experience for various types of visitors. While it's noted as a "Journey" KOA, implying a focus on convenient overnight stays, it still offers many of the standard amenities campers have come to expect. Services commonly available at Enfield KOA include:

  • Tent Sites: Dedicated areas for tent campers, some with electricity and water, others offering a more primitive experience.
  • Camping Cabins: Rustic cabins providing a roof over your head and beds, often without private bathrooms or kitchens, serving as a comfortable alternative to tent camping. Deluxe cabins, if available, may offer more amenities.

These services aim to provide a comfortable and convenient stay for all types of campers.

The Enfield KOA Journey, despite its rustic presentation, boasts several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal, particularly for those prioritizing convenience and essential comforts. Based on real customer feedback, these aspects truly stand out:

  • Quiet Environment Despite Proximity to Highway: While close to I-95, some reviews note that it's "not right next to I-95" so "no traffic noise" is heard, offering "quiet nights under the stars," which is a significant bonus for a roadside park.
  • Spacious and Flat Sites: Campers appreciate that sites are "flat and good size" and often "pull-thru," facilitating easy parking and setup for RVs.
  • Familiar KOA Standard: The "classic KOA A-frame" welcome center and overall KOA branding provide a sense of familiarity and reliability for seasoned KOA campers.
  • Pet-Friendly Amenities: With the availability of a KampK9® dog park, it’s a welcoming spot for those traveling with their furry companions.
  • Essential On-Site Store: The presence of a "nice selection" in the store, including "NC jellies," provides convenient access to necessities and local treats.

While some external areas might appear "rustic" or "poorly maintained" with "algae" or "weeds," the core features that contribute to a comfortable overnight stay, particularly the access, friendly service, and clean facilities, remain strong highlights for the Enfield KOA.

Like many KOA campgrounds, the Enfield KOA Journey participates in various promotions and special offers designed to reward loyal campers and attract new visitors. • KOA Rewards Appreciation Weekend: Typically held in September, this event offers KOA Rewards holders a free night's stay (stay Friday, get Saturday free) at participating campgrounds as a thank you for their loyalty.
  • Seasonal Discounts: Depending on the time of year, campgrounds may offer reduced rates during off-peak seasons or for extended stays.
  • Military Discounts: Many KOA locations, including some in North Carolina, offer discounts for active military personnel and veterans. It is always worth inquiring about this directly.
  • Bundle Deals: Occasionally, a campground might offer packages that combine a stay with local attractions or activities, though this is more common at larger KOA Resorts.

This Journey KOA is very conveniently located next to I 95. It is rustic. Surfaces are gravel with spots of grass here and there. The rest room is clean and brightly lit. The welcome center is classic KOA A-frame. The surrounding area is poorly maintained with signs of algae on the ice machine and weeds in the play area.

Beautiful wooden setting. Surrounded by farmland. I-95 close by, some road noises but quite minimal. Campground well taken care of, manicured lawns and dog park area. Bathrooms very clean and well kept. We'll definitely be back. Stayed here one day in a travel trailer #24.

A great place for an overnight worth the RV. We were traveling from Maine to Central Florida and this was a nice place to stop. Pull through sites, full hookup on most and for the most part not too cramped. Not much to do around the area though so anything more than a day might get boring for the kids. Plenty of areas for the dogs....... even a little off Leash dog park on the premises. Staff was very friendly......I had a tire that was low on air and they brought a portable air compressor to the site and pumped it up. There is a pool on site but it was closed when we visited........ oh well, overall a nice place as a stopover.

Just off the highway but you barely notice the cars. Very friendly. The pool is very relaxing but it's closed on Sundays.. Good size playground. To the person who says why there is a lock on the bathroom, I don't think it's for the toilets but people looking for a warm shower in a clean place.
