Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey About

Welcome, North Carolina adventurers, to a closer look at the Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA Journey! Nestled conveniently close to Interstate 95, this campground offers a practical and peaceful stop for travelers passing through or locals seeking a quick escape. While it might have a more rustic charm than some of its KOA counterparts, its accessibility and essential amenities make it a valuable option for many. Whether you're an RVer needing a convenient pull-through site or a tent camper looking for a place to pitch your tent, this KOA Journey aims to provide a reliable and straightforward experience.

This KOA Journey is situated at 18562 NC-481, Enfield, NC 27823, USA. Its prime location just off I-95 makes it incredibly easy to access, a significant advantage for those on long journeys. You'll find it less than five minutes from the expressway, offering a quick detour without much hassle. Despite its proximity to a major interstate, many visitors report that the campground is surprisingly quiet, with traffic noise from I-95 being minimal or entirely unnoticeable from most sites, particularly those further back from the front. However, it's worth noting that tent sites, located closer to the front, may experience some ambient traffic noise. This ease of access makes it an ideal halfway point for travelers driving between the Northeast (like New York or New Jersey) and Florida, providing a much-needed respite on a long drive.

  • Children's playground: Providing recreation for younger campers.
  • Volleyball area: An outdoor space for recreational activities.
  • Picnic tables: Available at many sites, enhancing the outdoor dining experience.
  • Grassed and gravel sites: Offering a mix of surfaces for various camping setups.
  • Long-term resident options: Some older trailers appear to be full-time or long-term residents, suggesting the possibility of extended stays.

Promotions or Special Offers:

Specific, ongoing promotions or special offers are not explicitly detailed in general public reviews. However, KOA campgrounds often have a loyalty program, the KOA Rewards program, which offers discounts on daily registration rates, points that accrue for cash off future stays, and other exclusive offers. Very convenient to I-95. A bit rustic for KOA, limited amenities and no staff at all. We called at 5:15 on a Saturday to advise that we would be arriving late and the office was closed with a simple message that we should call back during office hours. No after-hours contact or ability to leave a message. Closed on Sundays. We had made our reservation on the KOA app the same day we arrived and luckily there was an envelope with our name on it at the office when we arrived around 8pm. Simple pull-through site was unlevel and grass/gravel but did the trick for a one-night stopover. Dumped tanks and headed out around 10am the next day. Never saw any staff; was pretty empty on the weekend. Doubt anyone comes here except I-95 travelers stopping over (there were a few older trailers that appeared to be full time / long term residents in the back). It is less than 5 minutes from the expressway but very quiet. Couldn't hear the traffic at all. Definitely would consider as a stopover in the future. Halfway between NY/NJ and Florida so convenient for that.

This is a nice campground easily located by 95 but that isn't great if you are tenting. The tent sites are located in the front of the campground and you hear the traffic noise. When we went to bed we played noise on our phone at full blast to try to drown out the noise from 95. Eventually we were able to go to sleep. The 24-hour laundry room was easily accessible while maintained and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the beautiful pool was not open due to some circumstances beyond their control, but hopefully should be open soon. The 10 sites are actually pretty nice and have picnic tables undercover and a hydrant in the middle of the temp sites. There's also a nice volleyball area and children's playground. They're quite a few camping sites for trailers with electric and water. The restrooms are clean and have an access code.

Very accommodating as we were having truck issues on our way to Florida. They let us add nights as we were getting our truck fixed. We’ve stayed here in the past and we’ll be back again. It’s nice that it’s not right next to I-95. No traffic noise. Quiet area.

We were just passing through. It was a during a heat wave and all I could think about was cooling off in the pool. It was pricey for a campground with basically no amenities. The pool was closed all day. Even the office was closed all day. Our check in info was in an envelope tacked up outside the office door. We don’t have kids so the playground didn’t interest us. The bathroom was clean and suitable. But the campsites were close together and we ended up just sitting inside our camper with the ac on from when we arrived until we left. Way too expensive for essentially a place to park. Usually KOA campgrounds have amenities. This one was a disappointment.

This campground is upgrading so many features it is so great to see this small business occupy such a small rural town. It would be awesome if some Internet giant would provide much needed internet and cable service. This is a wonderful campground to get away from the hustle of the city! Staff is very friendly, especially the owner and as a woman, I am so proud that this "woman owned" business is a refreshing change of pace. Stacey Ashwood, husband Richard, father Mike are wonderful, courteous and very informative. Helpful as they can be, helping so many during the hurricane and storms, offering a refuge until so many could get back to their homes. Pet friendly, and happy to provide a home away from home. The grounds are clean and wonderfully kept, grass mowed and bathroom & showers are clean. Holidays and/or other special occasions are celebrated throughout the campground and no one is a stranger! Love this place!!!
