Great local campground just outside of Elgin, Iowa. Great pull out point for canoes and kayaks, equestrian campground in the park, anf it's right on a bike trail to connect to the Nature Center, petting zoo, along with Elgin and further down the trail, Clermont. Bathrooms are clean, playground has been updated, and firewood is readily available for sale. Gilbertson rec area is an awesome place to stay BUT mowing on the weekends should be prohibited! Unfortunately I had to put my stuff back in the camper and dive in myself the mowing was so dusty!
Love this camp ground super clean and very nice area there is something to do for everyone and the ranger even gave me a number for some one local that refill LP tanks you should put that on the board that was very help full so thanks for all the hard work and effort you guys put into the park ill be back for sure
Nice little park. Decent fishing in the area. Well kept. Honestly surprised there weren't more people camping. Restrooms and showers are really nice, too.
Beautiful place to ride horses for a quick day ride or the whole weekend..
