Introduction / Overview
For many Vermonters, the Northeast Kingdom (NEK) is synonymous with exhilarating mountain biking, stunning natural beauty, and a welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere. Green Mountain Glamping, nestled in the heart of this region in West Burke, provides the perfect fusion of outdoor adventure and cozy, low-stress lodging. This isn't just another campsite; it’s a meticulously prepared basecamp designed for those who want to experience the Kingdom Trails—literally—right from their front flap, but still desire the comfort of a real bed at the end of a long day of riding or hiking.
Glamping, or glamorous camping, takes the setup and gear-hauling out of the equation. At Green Mountain Glamping, you arrive to a furnished, high-quality canvas bell tent site that is already equipped with linens, cooking gear, and thoughtful amenities. This approach is particularly appealing to local users who may be traveling the length of the state for a weekend of biking but prefer to pack light. The friendly, personal nature of this small-scale operation is consistently highlighted by guests, ensuring a warm welcome that is characteristic of the NEK. While the setting is rustic and among the trees, the level of preparation and care from the host ensures a comfortable, memorable stay in a region known for its rugged charm.
It is important to manage expectations regarding certain amenities, as customer feedback occasionally points out the "rustic" nature of the facilities. The water for filling bottles, typically from a well-fed hose, is potable but may require filtering depending on personal preference, and the showers are notably simple unheated bucket-style setups. However, these minor compromises are quickly offset by the convenience, cleanliness of the tents and grounds, and the direct, immediate access to world-class trails.
Location and Accessibility
Green Mountain Glamping is strategically located at 455 Bumps Rd, West Burke, VT 05871, USA, placing it directly in the epicenter of the Northeast Kingdom’s premier outdoor recreational hub. This location offers extremely convenient access to the world-renowned Kingdom Trails network, a major draw for Vermont cyclists.
Accessibility by car is straightforward, but users arriving via GPS should note a common issue: the exact entrance to the campground is sometimes incorrectly mapped by online services like Google Maps, which can be challenging, especially for bikers or hikers arriving tired after a long journey. Visitors driving or biking should be aware that Bumps Road is a dead-end road, and the correct path to the campsite is often a distinct turn or path near the end of the road. For cyclists specifically, a hidden path at the dead end of Bumps Road provides a direct connection up to the glamping entrance, a welcome shortcut that keeps bikes off the main road. The site itself is private and nestled among the trees, offering a secluded feel despite being a short distance from the hosts’ residence. Its proximity to Lake Willoughby (just 11 miles away) and Burke Mountain Resort also makes it an excellent central location for exploring the broader attractions of the NEK, including hiking, swimming, and fishing.
Services Offered
Green Mountain Glamping focuses on providing comfort and convenience, especially for the biking community, while retaining a natural camping feel. The experience is essentially all-inclusive, requiring minimal gear from the guest.

Furthermore, for Vermonters seeking a weekend escape into the unparalleled natural beauty of the Northeast Kingdom, this glamping site offers a comfortable bridge between rugged nature and necessary comfort. It provides a real bed and a clean, equipped site, making it an excellent, low-commitment getaway for individuals or small families looking to enjoy the NEK’s hiking, biking, and swimming without the extensive packing list required for a deep backcountry trip. It’s an efficient, locally-focused way to enjoy one of Vermont’s most celebrated recreational areas.

I stayed here for a recent VTXL gravel bike tour. The host was incredibly friendly and the grounds beautiful. The bike washing station was a nice extra we weren't expecting. The listing said filter the water but we filled out bottles from the hose and that was fine. I took 1 star off for two reasons: 1. The entrance to the campground is shown on the wrong road on Google Maps (I submitted a change request), There is even an entrance arrow for the wrong driveway which might be fine if you are driving but we were at the end of a 70 mile bike journey. Note to folks arriving on foot or via bike: there is a path at the dead end of Bumps Road that leads up to the entrance to the campground. 2. There is a shower in the hip camp listing and I was looking forward to a hot shower after riding 4 hours in cold rain. It's an unheated bucket shower. The host did fill the bucket with warm water for us but it was not the shower experience I was hoping for or experiencing for the price of the campsite. I'd still recommend staying here and might do so again, but not if I needed to clean off after a muddy day of riding.
