Hatfield's Hideout
is conveniently located at585 River Rd, McCarr, KY 41544, USA
, positioning it at the very epicenter of the region's top recreational attractions. The location in Pike County, Eastern Kentucky, provides immediate and near-direct access to one of the most exciting sections of the entire Hatfield-McCoy Trail system: the Devil Anse Trail. The benefit of this proximity cannot be overstated for Kentuckians, as it means the ability to achieve the highly desirable "ride-in, ride-out" experience—no need to trailer your machine daily; simply ride straight from your campsite onto the trails. While the facility’s location offers unparalleled access to wilderness, customers have noted that the drive to the campground itself involves navigating a narrow, one-lane road. This is a common characteristic of deep Appalachian mountain roads and should be anticipated by those hauling large campers or trailers. However, once you arrive, the central location on the Tug Fork River, right outside the historic town of Matewan, West Virginia, offers a gateway not just to trail riding, but also to local history, kayaking, and fishing right at your doorstep.

Great staff. Only complaint was the ATVs going way to fast sending dust everywhere by the cabins. However we loved it and will return often.
Sep 21, 2025 · tm garvinVery nice staff, great place next to the tug fork river, super clean bathrooms and showers, and hookups on tent sites. My reservation wasn't messed up like it was at Twin Hollow. I will be coming back here eventually and recommend it to anyone, honestly this place is super underrated. The only bad is that the drive there is a very narrow one lane road. 10 star otherwise.
May 03, 2025 · Jakub RembiszClose to the trailhead. Bathhouse and laundry available. Spacious sites. The road you turn on to get to the campground is narrow, but there were larger rigs there.
Aug 15, 2025 · Rachel MassingillGreat place to stay! Clean showers and bathrooms. Great hookups for the campground. Great hosts and loved the community at Hatfield Hideout. Animal friendly. Next to a river which is awesome when it is hot. Easy access to groceries and gas. Also, close to Devil Anse trail. Full hookups, fire ring, picnic tables and cabins just in case camping is not what you want. Great place and great staff.
Oct 21, 2024 · Tonya HuskeyFantastic experience, no complaints. We’d stay here anytime we come to ride. Great area, great views, close to the trails, gas etc. Cabin was clean, bed super comfy and heat/air worked great.
