Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground About
For Floridians and those visiting the Sunshine State, finding the right RV park can make all the difference in a pleasant and memorable trip. Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground in Brooksville, Florida, aims to provide a welcoming base for RVers exploring the scenic Nature Coast. Located directly on Commercial Way (US-19), this campground offers the convenience of being on a major route while still aiming to provide a comfortable and community-oriented atmosphere.
RV parks like Hawks Nest serve a diverse population, from long-term residents seeking a stable and affordable place to call home, to seasonal "snowbirds" escaping colder climates, and short-term travelers passing through. The appeal often lies in the balance of individual space and shared facilities, fostering a unique sense of camaraderie among fellow travelers and residents. The goal of such a park is to offer essential services and a supportive environment, making RV living as seamless as possible.
However, as with any community, experiences can vary. Customer reviews offer insights into the realities of daily life and management responsiveness. This article aims to provide a factual and balanced overview of Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground, drawing on available public information and customer feedback, to help prospective visitors from Florida and beyond determine if it aligns with their expectations for an RV stay in Brooksville.
Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground is strategically located at 11185 Commercial Way, Brooksville, FL 34614, USA. This address places it directly on US-19, a significant coastal highway that runs along Florida's Gulf Coast, making it highly accessible for RV travelers. The park's position on US-19 means straightforward navigation for arrivals and departures, whether coming from the south (like the Tampa Bay area) or the north (towards Crystal River).
Being on Commercial Way, guests have immediate access to a variety of local conveniences. Within a short drive, residents and visitors can find grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies, and various dining establishments, from fast food to local eateries. This proximity to essential services simplifies daily errands and provides dining options without needing to venture far.
Beyond immediate amenities, the location offers strong regional connectivity. US-19 connects to other major state routes like SR-50 and is also within a reasonable distance of Interstate 75 (I-75). This allows for easier travel to larger cities such as Tampa (approximately 53 minutes drive), Gainesville, and Orlando, providing access to major airports, extensive shopping, entertainment, and professional services.
Furthermore, Hawks Nest RV Park's location in Brooksville positions it centrally within Florida's "Nature Coast." This region is renowned for its natural springs, state parks, and outdoor recreational opportunities. Popular attractions like Weeki Wachee Springs State Park (home of the famous mermaids) are just minutes away, as are opportunities for kayaking, fishing, hiking, and exploring the Withlacoochee State Forest. This blend of highway accessibility, local convenience, and proximity to natural attractions makes Hawks Nest RV Park & Campground a well-situated base for exploring West Central Florida.

It is important for prospective guests to contact the park directly to confirm the current availability and condition of all desired services, especially given conflicting information in reviews.

- Value-Oriented Stay: The park's website describes itself as "low on frills and high on value," aiming to provide a clean and safe spot for extended stays. This focus on affordability can be a major highlight for budget-conscious travelers and long-term residents.
- Strategic Location: Situated on US-19, the park offers excellent accessibility to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, Crystal River (known for manatees), and the broader Nature Coast region, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities and local exploration.
- Accommodates Extended Stays: With "Extended Stay" sites available, the park caters to individuals or families looking for longer-term residency in Central Florida.
- Basic Site Amenities: Sites are typically gravel and include full hookups (water, electric, sewer), which are essential conveniences for RVers.
- Pet-Friendly Policy: The park welcomes pets, which is a key feature for many RV travelers who bring their furry companions along.
However, it is crucial to address the negative feedback received:
- Maintenance and Cleanliness Concerns: A recent review strongly criticizes the park's maintenance, stating grass is left "knee high," and bathrooms are "filthy and never supplies in them." This indicates a significant issue with upkeep under current management.
- Management/Owner Issues: The negative review also points to a "joke" manager and owners who "don't care only wants money," implying poor customer service and a lack of responsiveness to complaints, even threatening eviction.
Prospective guests should carefully consider these contrasting views and attempt to gather current information directly or from very recent visitors before committing to a stay, especially for long periods.

However, based on common practices in the RV park industry in Florida, potential offers might include:
- Long-Term Stay Discounts: As the park caters to "extended stay" guests, it is highly probable that weekly, monthly, or seasonal rates are significantly discounted compared to daily rates. This is a common incentive for snowbirds and long-term residents.
- Membership Discounts: While not explicitly listed as a KOA (despite one source indicating it), or Good Sam park in current official information, many RV parks offer discounts for members of various RV clubs and affiliations (e.g., Good Sam, AAA, Escapees RV Club, military, seniors, first responders, etc.). It would be worthwhile to inquire about any such partnerships.
- Seasonal Pricing: Like most Florida RV parks, rates may fluctuate depending on the season, with lower prices often available during the warmer, off-peak months.

It is advisable to inquire about rates for your specific duration of stay and ask about any available discounts you might qualify for. However, it is vital for prospective local guests to be fully aware of the mixed reviews, particularly concerning recent management changes and cleanliness issues. Customer Reviews
I live here and it is a wonderful experience. Met many many awsome people here. The stories are still coming in.might start a blog. Very interesting.
Since the new Greek owners purchased hawks nest the park has turned slummy. They wait till grass is knee high to mow. Bathrooms filthy and never supplies in them. So called Manager is a Joke. If you complain they love to throw you out. DO NOT GO THERE unless you want to live like that. There is no reasoning with the owners they don’t care only wants money
Great place to stay very quiet and friendly people
Quiet and clean. People are friendly and quite. On the rare occasion a trouble maker gets in they are quickly exited. The manager Lori is nice. The only complaint is that the wifi has been out in half the park for months now and the owner has no sense of urgency to fix it yet he raised the rent. Nothing fancy. No amenities other than bathrooms and laundry. There are only two working washers for the place as well.
I went there years ago to be closer to my in laws. I stay for several years and never really felt comfortable. The sheriff is there at least two times a week. When Leon and Sharon ran it, it was somewhat nice with many exceptions. Lloyd was a womanizer and females were totally scared to go to the office. Charlie was fantastic and a delight to be around. Then it started with poor management again. Campfires were only allowed in select "special " groups, management seemed very uneducated, uninformed, and insisted to start issues with people who were simply trying to enjoy themselves. It has nose dived incredibly hard. Immature games by management and a bipolar owner can only result in problems. I moved on to a beautiful private place so as not to be involved with such childish behavior. Before I left I was asked to clean up the owner's debris left while I was at my mother's funeral. Placed on my kayak stand. When it was explained that it was the owners, the uninformed manager became irrational. I moved on to a much nicer place where the owner doesn't ask a deaf person to stand on his porch and see what you can hear from the police about the nextdoor neighbor pulling a gun and pointing it residents at a picnic . I would suggest moving on to someplace cheaper that offers something other than promises and a few more amenities for that price.
