Introduction / Overview
For Minnesotans who cherish the rugged beauty of the Northwoods but prefer the convenience of modern amenities, Headquarters RV Park offers the perfect blend. Situated on the border of Crane Lake and Buyck, this destination has quickly earned a reputation as one of the nicest, best-maintained RV parks in the northern part of the state. It is not just a place to park; it is a meticulously kept, family-owned base camp set amidst 30 acres of stunning wilderness, right at the doorstep of the incredible Voyageurs National Park and the Superior National Forest.
The park operates on a simple but effective philosophy: providing a clean, safe, and quiet experience where guests can truly unplug and recharge. Unlike crowded parks, Headquarters offers only a limited number of spacious, full-service sites. Each spot is thoughtfully designed to maximize privacy and comfort, with level, elevated pads surfaced with natural rock to keep your vehicle clean and dry. Visitors consistently praise the friendly, helpful owners who are often described as going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay, offering excellent local recommendations for recreation and dining. This level of personalized care and attention to detail is what sets Headquarters RV Park apart as a genuine "home away from home" in Northern Minnesota.
Whether you are planning a short getaway, a week of family vacation, or even looking for a seasonal home base, Headquarters RV Park provides the ideal blend of full-utility convenience with a deep immersion into the wilderness, making it a favorite for RV enthusiasts across the region.
Location and Accessibility
Headquarters RV Park boasts a strategic and desirable location in the heart of the Voyageurs area wilderness. The park’s address is 7070 Crane Lake Rd, Crane Lake, MN 55725, placing it just a short, convenient drive from the beautiful shores of Crane Lake, which serves as one of the main entry points to the unique, water-based Voyageurs National Park.
The park is located approximately 25 miles east of Orr, MN, on County Road 24, also known as Crane Lake Road. While it sits deep in the Northwoods, the accessibility is excellent for large rigs. The road leading to the park is generally well-maintained, and the park’s entrance is easy to locate. This central positioning makes Headquarters RV Park an unrivaled hub for regional adventures. Guests enjoy proximity not only to Voyageurs National Park but also to multiple entry points for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) and countless area lakes, including Echo, Namakan, and Vermilion.
Furthermore, a significant convenience for local enthusiasts is the park’s direct access to the region's extensive trail system. Since the park is right off Crane Lake Road, it’s noted that guests can drive their ATV or UTV directly from the park to the official ATV trails, making it a perfect launch point for motorized recreation in the area. This blend of remote wilderness setting and convenient access makes the journey simple and the stay peaceful.

Great location, beautiful campsite, friendly/helpful owners. Definitely will be our first choice next time we are in the Crane Lake area.
Sep 17, 2025 · Ron FolkeringaThis is what a RV park should be! The sites are spacious and well maintained with custom-made tables and nice fire pits. The RV park is surrounded by beautiful tall trees. The owners are so nice and helpful with great recreation and restaurant recommendations. Can't wait to go back!
Sep 24, 2024 · Tiffany KyllmannOur second time here and we just love it. We usually do boondocking as we love the wildlife and being around nature. But this park is as good as it gets to all that. And the owner sure helped us out in a bind with our propane hose, and we sure were grateful..hoping to come back next year..
Sep 02, 2024 · G berryWe had a large group of campers & this campground was able to accommodate us all for Memorial weekend. Will definitely be going back here. The sites were nice level fire pits, picnic tables & full Hookups in each site. Nice playground, community areas included a fire pit with nice log seats around it & a Screened in picnic area.
May 29, 2023 · Sarah BrainardHQ RV is a hidden gem of a place. Nestled in between the forrest, this campground has the right amount of seclusion and proximity to the lodge that make your trip convenient to whatever mood you may be in. The customer service is above and beyond. Korean, the owner, is incredibly kind and generous with her time and advice, if you should need anything. I can’t recommend this place enough.
