As a state park campground, Hickory Point's pricing is typically set by the Oklahoma Parks and Recreation Department. While specific promotions can vary by season or special events, it's always advisable to inquire directly about current offers when planning your stay. Common discounts and promotions that might be available at state park campgrounds in Oklahoma often include:
- America the Beautiful Pass / Golden Age Passport Discounts: Seniors (62+) and those with certain federal passes may receive a 50% discount on camping fees. It's recommended to confirm eligibility and availability.
- Off-Season Rates: During less busy periods, such as the fall or winter (outside of major holidays), some campgrounds may offer reduced rates to encourage visits.
- Extended Stay Discounts: While not always advertised, staying for a week or longer might sometimes qualify for a slightly reduced nightly rate. It's worth asking when you call to book or inquire.
Given that sites are generally on a first-come, first-served basis and reservations are not typically accepted for individual campsites, it's best to arrive early, especially during peak seasons like summer weekends, to secure your preferred spot. This is very good place to camp at any season of the year.
Great place to camp with an RV trailer - $20/night for full water and electric hookup. Camp host was really nice at Hickory Point. Also lake views from every spot. Spots more spaced out at Hickory than at Red Oak area. Only complaint is that there is no hand soap in bathroom, so be sure to bring your own.
Nice small quiet campground. Great lake view. Small swimming area for the kiddos close by. Bathhouse is small but clean.
Great campground off the beaten path. Clean bathrooms, beautiful views of the lake. Boat ramp and swimming area are right there. My problem with this campground are the territorial locals. Unlike Oklahoma state parks, this is a first come first serve campground. If you show up on Friday you won't find a spot at Hickory Point. The last time we went to Okmulgee/Dripping Springs we came in on Friday at 4 and ended up having to stay over at Dripping Springs because all of Hickory Point was full. This time we purposely went early on Thursday. When we got there at 2 PM on Thursday the prime spots were already taken by giant 5th wheels. I sat and watched locals physically shuffle vehicles around blocking other camp sites for their friends/family. Another RV would show up and they would move their vehicle to make room for the RV. Then by dark on Friday the parking lot was like Walmart parking lot on Black Friday. Saturday morning at 5:30 in the morning there were a group of young males talking loudly and playing with their firearms. I really wish this was still a state park, and not operated by the City of Okmulgee. With reservations and more oversight. Another factor, Verizon has zero bars while at this campground. I won't go back there to camp again.
