Introduction / Overview
For New York RV enthusiasts seeking a well-manicured, modern, and easily accessible retreat in the Western New York region, Hickory Ridge RV Resort in Holley, NY, presents a compelling destination. Designed to accommodate all sizes of recreational vehicles, this resort offers 158 full-hookup campsites and positions itself as a wonderful natural get-away that also caters to the golf aficionado. The resort is part of the larger Hickory Ridge Golf Resort, blending the tranquility of a serene campground with the convenience and amenities of a country club setting. This unique combination makes it a popular stop for both seasonal RVers and short-term visitors exploring the Empire State.
The resort operates seasonally, generally from May 1st to November 1st, perfectly aligning with New York's prime camping and golfing months. While many campers are drawn to the convenience of the full hookups and the adjacent 18-hole golf course, it is important for prospective guests to note that the experience is highly focused on the RV lifestyle and golf. Historical guest feedback indicates that while the grounds are scenic and the seasonal community is welcoming, there have been periods of inconsistent management and fluctuation in the availability and quality of some promised amenities like Wi-Fi, cable, and the condition of the golf course and carts. The resort is transparent about its separation from the golf course—the course is considered private property, and all non-golfers, including children, are strictly prohibited from walking or playing on it.
Location and Accessibility
Hickory Ridge RV Resort boasts an extremely convenient and highly strategic location for New York residents. Situated at 15870 Lynch Rd in Holley, NY, the resort lies in the peaceful countryside roughly midway between two of New York's largest metropolitan areas: Rochester and Buffalo. This makes it an ideal central hub for New York RV owners looking for a short drive to a vacation spot, with estimated travel times of about 34 minutes from Rochester and approximately one hour from Buffalo.
The location offers excellent regional accessibility, placing visitors close to significant upstate New York landmarks. The resort is just 1.5 miles from the renowned Erie Canal walking and biking trails, offering easy access to scenic outdoor recreation. Moreover, its position allows for reasonable day trips to major attractions, including the spectacular Niagara Falls, which is about an hour's drive away, and various local State Parks such as Hamlin Beach and Lakeside Beach. For New York RV owners, this means less time on the road and more time enjoying their vacation, coupled with the opportunity to explore the historical and natural beauty of Western New York.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Hickory Ridge RV Resort is an exceptionally suitable destination for New York locals, particularly those in the Rochester and Buffalo regions, for several key reasons. Firstly, its convenient location minimizes the lengthy travel typical of RV trips, making it an excellent option for weekend getaways or an entire seasonal stay without committing to a remote locale. The full-service, big-rig-friendly sites mean that New York RV owners can bring all the comforts of home, ensuring a smooth and effortless setup every time.
The resort’s unique appeal is its dual identity as an RV park and a golf resort. For the significant population of New Yorkers who enjoy golf, having an 18-hole course literally next door, complete with discounted rates, is a feature that few other local parks can match. While the resort's operational consistency, particularly regarding non-golf amenities and management style, has received mixed reviews, the fundamental offerings of a scenic location, a refreshing swimming pool, and the established, welcoming seasonal community are highly valued by its local clientele. It is clearly a spot that prioritizes the golf-centric, adult-oriented RV lifestyle. For New York residents seeking a quiet, peaceful, and well-maintained base of operations for a season of golfing, local exploration along the Erie Canal, and easy access to the region's major cities and attractions, Hickory Ridge RV Resort provides a central and attractive option.

Attended a wedding reception last night. Everything was lovely. The lights strung up on the ceiling were so pretty. The tables were nicely decorated with the chairs covered and tied with bows. The food was very good as well. Staff was attentive and close by if there was an issue or need. Very nice venue for a medium to small party.
Jul 02, 2017 · Susan RahnWe camped here for many years (last camped here 3 years ago). They used to have cable, wifi, golf carts to use for going to golf course, site garbage pickup. Owners are hard to deal with, staff turn around is high, there are no longer any amenities other than a pool. Sites are ok. Golf course is very rough and golf carts falling apart. We were going to try and get a seasonal a few years ago but the owners were so messed up and unorganized we decided to got to Southwoods RV park in Byron which is day to night to this place. We always had issues with booking fees and VET discount. Most of the seasonal people are great and share our thoughts....but they all live close to this park and are happy to have a rv spot. If your in a bind, its ok...but there are better options. NOT A KID FRIENDLY place as well. Not sure why the owners make it such an issue being good business people, the place had lots of potential. We camp Southwoods almost 30 days a summer and Florida for 90 days in winter. We are from Canada.

Apr 30, 2025 · Greg DidasEnjoyed staying here up until it was time to leave. If you travel for work and your job scope can change quickly don't count on the owner to work with you, paid an entire month to stay for 7 days.
