Promotions or Special Offers

As part of the Ohio State Parks system, Hocking Hills Campground often participates in broader state-level promotions or seasonal offers, rather than having specific site-based deals. For Ohio residents looking to make the most of their visit, here’s how to find potential savings or special events:

  • Official Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Website: The ODNR website (ohiodnr.gov) is the primary source for all official information regarding Ohio State Parks. They frequently announce seasonal discounts for camping, especially during off-peak times (e.g., November to April). These might include reduced rates for weekdays or extended stays.

  • Check the Park’s Event Calendar: Hocking Hills State Park regularly hosts naturalist-led programs, guided hikes, and special events throughout the year. While not direct discounts on camping fees, these free or low-cost activities add significant value to your stay. For example, visitors can often find information on events like "Awesome Amphibians" or "Beginners Kayaking" programs through the park's online calendar.

  • Off-Peak Season Camping: The "off-peak season" from November 1 to April 1 often sees lower rates. During this time, Shower House 1 and the dump station remain open, and water is available at Shower House 1, making it a viable and more affordable option for hardy campers.

  • Group Reservations: For larger groups, contacting the park office directly may reveal special rates or policies for group camping reservations.

  • Sherman Cabin and Hike-in Site Booking: While not a promotion, booking these specific accommodation types may offer a different price point or unique experience compared to standard RV/tent sites. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.

It is always recommended to visit the official ODNR website or contact the Hocking Hills State Park office directly before booking to inquire about any current promotions or special offers that may apply to your desired dates.

Very easy check-in. Shower house was clean. Campground where welll kept. Trash beens always seemed empty, not overflowing like some other campgrounds, but I don't remember hearing a garbage truck. Great place for hiking and fishing. Quiet...the visitor center and trails just below the campground were busy, but you could not hear it in the campgrounds. Just make sure food is put away. I saw Raccoons rummaging through a couple of neighbors' dog food and other items a couple of different times.

For my first time both solo car camping and at Hocking Hills, the campground was great!! I reserved a tent site and slept in my car, and was glad to see that I wasn’t the only one doing that. Although the sites were pretty close together, that was no problem and the proximity to the bathroom was great. The bathroom alone was reason enough to stay: super clean, quite nice, very warm, and with the best campground/public shower I’ve ever been used. The campground is also quite close to the rest of the park’s main attractions. Would happily stay here again!

Really nice clean campgrounds. Sites are all average size, and most are spacious. Beautiful, clean pool. Hiking trails connect to Old Mans Cave in two different locations. General Store doesn't have a lot, so make sure you do not forget something. Overall, such a beautiful area all times of year, can't go wrong when staying.

Excellent, nice bathrooms with showers and built-in music. Great warm welcome with cookies. The play area for children is large. Lots of fun things, adult swing looking to lake, fishing, canoes, and kayak. 3 primitive tent sites by trees a little apart from RVs. Close to lake. Lulled to sleep by frogs and cicadas.
