Hocking Hills Group Camping is strategically located at The 664, Hocking Hills Reservoir Dam, Logan, OH 43138, USA. This places it directly within the iconic Hocking Hills State Park, making it incredibly convenient for groups looking to explore the park's famous attractions. Logan, Ohio, serves as the gateway to the Hocking Hills region. The park is easily accessible from major Ohio cities. From Columbus, it's typically about an hour's drive southeast, following well-maintained state routes. For those coming from Cincinnati or Cleveland, the drive is longer but still manageable, making it a viable destination for groups from across the state. The access roads to the group camping area are generally suitable for standard vehicles, though groups should be prepared for potential unpaved or gravel sections common in state park settings. Its proximity to world-renowned hiking trails like Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave means groups can quickly embark on their adventures without extensive travel once at the campsite.
Hocking Hills Group Camping is designed to facilitate comfortable and manageable stays for larger groups, providing essential services that cater to communal needs in a natural setting.
- Tent-Only Group Camping: The primary service is dedicated tent-only sites capable of accommodating large groups. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) notes that reservations for these sites are required, and groups should call for specific size limitations.
- Pit Latrines: As a more rustic group camping area, pit latrines are provided for restroom facilities. While one reviewer mentioned struggling with bathrooms for a large group, other reviews for the main Hocking Hills State Park campground (which shares some facilities) consistently praise clean restrooms and showers, so general park facilities may also be accessible.
- Access to Swimming Pool: A significant highlight, as noted by a reviewer, is the availability of a swimming pool within the broader Hocking Hills State Park Campground. This is a fantastic amenity for groups, especially during warm Ohio summers, providing a refreshing way to cool off after a day of hiking.
- Access to Well-Maintained Restrooms (Main Campground): While the group camping area itself offers pit latrines, the main Hocking Hills State Park Campground, located nearby, features heated showers, flush toilets, and laundry facilities. Groups may find it beneficial to access these more extensive amenities as needed.
- Access to Dump Station/Fill Station: For groups utilizing RVs or trailers in other parts of the park (or those with portable water tanks), the main campground has a dump station and fill station.
- Access to Campground Store: The Hocking Hills State Park Campground includes a store where campers can purchase essential supplies, firewood, ice, and other necessities, which is convenient for groups.
- Picnic Tables: Each group site is typically equipped with picnic tables for communal dining and gathering.
- Fire Rings: Designated fire rings are provided for campfires, a quintessential group camping activity.
- Pets Allowed: Pets are generally permitted on campsites within Hocking Hills State Park, including the group camping areas, allowing all members of a family or group to join.
Hocking Hills Group Camping offers several key features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for Ohio groups seeking an adventurous outdoor experience.
- Direct Access to Hocking Hills Trails: A major draw is the direct access to the world-famous hiking trails of Hocking Hills State Park. Groups can easily explore iconic areas such as Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, Ash Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow, Cantwell Cliffs, and Whispering Cave Trail.
- Ideal for Large Gatherings: Specifically designed for groups, this campground is perfect for family reunions, scout troops, youth organizations, or friends looking for a collective outdoor adventure. The ample space allows for communal activities and bonding.
- Stunning Natural Scenery: The Hocking Hills region is celebrated for its unique geological formations, including sandstone cliffs, deep gorges, recessed caves, and beautiful waterfalls. Groups will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
- Recreational Amenities: Beyond hiking, the broader Hocking Hills State Park offers various recreational activities. This may include playgrounds, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits within the main campground area, which group campers can likely access.
- Visitor Center and Nature Programs: The Hocking Hills State Park Visitor Center provides educational exhibits, and during the summer, the park offers naturalist-led programs, including guided hikes and wildlife viewing opportunities, which can be a great addition to a group's itinerary.
- Year-Round Beauty: Hocking Hills State Park is open year-round, offering distinct beauty in every season, from the lush greens of summer to the vibrant foliage of autumn, and the serene, snow-covered landscapes of winter.
As a state park facility, Hocking Hills Group Camping primarily operates under the pricing and reservation policies set by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Specific "promotions" in the traditional commercial sense are not typically offered for individual campsite bookings.
However, groups should inquire directly with the Ohio State Parks reservation system for any potential discounts related to group size, extended stays, or off-peak season rates. The ODNR also has a "State Parks Rewards Program" where individuals can earn points for overnight lodging, which can be redeemed for discounts on future stays. While primarily individual, a group organizer might benefit from this for future personal trips. Additionally, various state-wide discounts may apply to specific groups, such as seniors (Golden Buckeye Card) or veterans (Disabled Veteran Free Camping Pass). It is always recommended to check the official Ohio State Parks website or call the reservation line for the most up-to-date information on any available benefits or booking details for large groups.

Customer Reviews
The campsite is really good with a swimming pool. The restrooms are well maintained. Many good hiking trails near by. Beware of the snakes though.
Wonderful experience with large group as camping. But struggled a lot for bathrooms.
Good place to camp, feels like in deep forest with no cellphone service. But make sure to check weather, rainy days are not good for camping here. Like many other group camping place, this place also doesn't have running water or flushable toilets.
The camp ground and the location was the only good things. The 2 reasons I give it 2 stars are the bathrooms were nasty and smelly and hasent been cleaned in months. Also there were groups that had parties which made it hard to sleep.
Great place to camp. The bathrooms need work though. No water or electrical hook up though. Primitive. Just what nature ordered.
