Hudson Mobile Home Community About

Introduction / Overview

For individuals and families in Indiana exploring housing alternatives that offer both independence and affordability, Hudson Mobile Home Community in Hudson presents a unique option within the manufactured home sector. Often referred to as mobile home parks, these communities operate on a model where residents typically own their home while leasing the land it occupies. This arrangement can significantly reduce the upfront costs associated with traditional homeownership and often results in lower monthly housing expenses, making it a viable and attractive choice for many Hoosiers seeking a more budget-friendly living solution.

Hudson Mobile Home Community is located at 202 E Railroad St, Hudson, IN 46747, USA. Reviews from current and past residents offer a mixed, but important, perspective on what it's like to live there. One positive aspect highlighted is that "Most people are friendly here" and "Everyone keeps to there self pretty much," indicating a community that respects privacy while still offering a friendly atmosphere. A more recent review also notes that the "new park manager she is doing very well trying to take care of thing," suggesting positive efforts in current management. However, another, more critical review details significant past challenges related to property management, including allegations of unresponsiveness to maintenance, strict rules regarding personalization (e.g., fences, decorations), and difficulties with selling or moving homes due to park policies. It also suggests that homes were acquired from a "mobile home scrap yard" with only "minimum repair." These varying perspectives underscore the importance of thorough due diligence for prospective residents, as the quality of living in manufactured home communities can be heavily influenced by management practices. Despite past issues, the core appeal of Hudson Mobile Home Community lies in its offering of an accessible and independent living arrangement in the town of Hudson.

Location and Accessibility

Hudson Mobile Home Community is situated at 202 E Railroad St, Hudson, IN 46747, USA. This location places the community within the quaint town of Hudson, a part of Steuben County in Northeast Indiana. Hudson offers a peaceful, small-town environment, which can be appealing for those seeking a quieter lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle of larger urban centers.

The community's position on East Railroad Street suggests it may be in a more established or central part of Hudson, potentially offering convenient access to local amenities. While Hudson itself is a smaller town, it typically provides essential services such as a post office, local shops, and perhaps a small diner or two for daily needs. For more extensive shopping, dining, and specialized services, residents would likely travel to nearby larger towns or cities within Steuben County or beyond.

In terms of regional accessibility, Hudson's location in Steuben County provides reasonable connectivity. Major roads like US-6 and State Road 327 are accessible, facilitating commutes to larger population centers such as Angola (approximately 15-20 minutes away) or even Fort Wayne (about a 45-60 minute drive). For educational pursuits, Trine University in Angola is within a comfortable driving distance. Healthcare facilities, like Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, are also accessible within a reasonable travel time. While the area is generally car-dependent, the quiet charm of Hudson combined with its practical access to regional necessities makes Hudson Mobile Home Community a viable option for those seeking affordable living in a more rural Indiana setting.

Prospective residents should clarify which utilities are included in the lot rent and which are the resident's separate responsibility.
  • Road and Common Area Maintenance: Like most manufactured home communities, management is generally responsible for maintaining the internal roads and common areas, though past reviews have indicated challenges with road conditions and general park upkeep.

These guys are horrible. The property management is uninvolved. The property manager should never have became one in the first place. Tells lies to avoid confrontation. Have went out of his way to make life very difficult for people like single mothers struggling, among others getting help from locals. You can't place a fence or a temporary one. No playpens or swing sets approved ect even if its not nailed down. If you drive through there are very few de corations up to make it your own. Only the chosen few can. Mind you 90% of the people own the mobile homes. No rv or boat parking even if its in your designated spot taking up no extra room. Now you can't sell it or take your home with you cause they made it so they have the right to refuse and right to first refusal. I got sick of fighting with the manager wanted out so tried to sell it to a needy family. They swooped in and wanted to match it or no sale. Wanted to move it and oh no can't do that either. They want you to pay repairs for the trailer but its never really yours. Not to mention they were all got from a mobile home scrap yard and they preformed minimum repair just to cover the problems. If you move there good luck.
