As noted by a real customer, it’s a "nice safe easy access campground" that offers significant value for its price. This focus on accessibility and affordability, combined with essential services, makes it a pragmatic choice for many campers. While some reviews mention the presence of highway traffic and train noise, a common characteristic for campgrounds offering such convenient interstate access, many find it manageable and a worthy trade-off for the ease of travel.

The convenience of being "only about a half hour from Omaha" makes this campground particularly attractive for those looking to explore the Omaha metropolitan area without dealing with city congestion or higher accommodation costs. It's an excellent base for visiting attractions like the Omaha Zoo or for those who have business or family in the city. The family-friendly amenities, such as a playground, further enhance its appeal for those traveling with children. This balance of convenience, affordability, and basic comforts creates a welcoming atmosphere that resonates with many travelers seeking a practical and pleasant camping experience in the Iowa-Nebraska corridor.

I-29 Hwy 34 Campground is strategically located at 19281 Hanna Ave, Pacific Junction, IA 51561, USA. This address places it just off Interstate 29 and near Highway 34, making it exceptionally convenient for travelers passing through or those looking to explore the western Iowa and eastern Nebraska regions. Pacific Junction is a small town in Mills County, Iowa, known for its rural setting and easy access to major transportation routes.

The campground's primary strength lies in its "easy in and out" access to Interstate 29. As customers have highlighted, it’s "literally so easy to get on the highway," which is a significant advantage for RVers and campers on the go. The drive to the campground is described as a "long, but flat and smooth gravel drive through a field," indicating straightforward navigation for all vehicle types. While it requires crossing train tracks to get there, the ease of access to the interstate typically outweighs this minor detail for most travelers.

Its proximity to Omaha, approximately "a half hour" drive away, positions it as an ideal base for exploring Nebraska’s largest city without paying Omaha prices. This makes it suitable for visiting attractions, attending events, or visiting family and friends in the metropolitan area. The location in Pacific Junction provides a quieter alternative to city camping, allowing campers to enjoy a more relaxed environment while still having urban amenities within easy reach. The combination of interstate accessibility and proximity to a major city makes I-29 Hwy 34 Campground a highly practical choice for many Nebraskan travelers and those venturing into Iowa.

Features / Highlights:

  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The campground offers a "playground" that kids love, and the presence of a "fence so the kids accidentally go on the highway" provides an added layer of safety for families.
  • Quiet Community (among campers): Despite the highway and train noise, the campground maintains a quiet atmosphere among campers, with "other people keep to themselves," allowing for a peaceful stay within the park.
  • Easy Access to Omaha: Its location approximately "a half hour from Omaha" makes it an excellent base for visiting popular attractions in the city, such as the Omaha Zoo, without the higher costs of city accommodations.
  • Competitive Pricing: The daily rate of "$25/night or cheaper by the week or month" makes it a very affordable option for various stay durations.
  • Customer Service and Booking: Reviews highlight that the "lady on the phone was super helpful and booked us right away," indicating responsive and friendly customer service.
  • Year-Round Availability: While not explicitly stated for all sites, the mention of availability during a "winter storm" suggests year-round operation for at least some facilities, which is a significant advantage for winter travelers.
  • Gravel Pads: The "flat and smooth gravel drive to campground" and gravel pads provide a stable and level surface for parking RVs.

Based on customer reviews, I-29 Hwy 34 Campground offers a clear and attractive pricing structure that can be considered a special offer due to its affordability, especially for longer stays.

Promotions or Special Offers:

  • Daily Rate: $25 per night.
  • Weekly Rate: Cheaper by the week (specific amount varies but is less than daily multiplied by seven, reported as $150 per week in some older reviews).
  • Monthly Rate: Cheaper by the month (specific amount varies but is less than daily multiplied by thirty, reported as $600 per month in some older reviews).

These rates are notably competitive and provide excellent value for full hookup sites. While no additional, limited-time promotions are explicitly mentioned in public data, the standard weekly and monthly discounts serve as strong incentives for extended stays.

A point of caution from a customer review is worth noting: "He couldn't rent a spot for the night . . . being said it was to old for him to rent many of his vacant spots." This suggests that while generally accommodating, there might be unstated policies regarding the age or condition of RVs for entry. Prospective campers with older RVs should consider calling ahead to ensure their vehicle meets any unspoken aesthetic or condition requirements to avoid disappointment, especially during adverse weather conditions. The park owner's policy regarding older RVs appears to be a point of contention for some travelers.

A nice safe easy access campground. It's only $25/night Or cheaper by the week or month. It is only about a half hour from Omaha. The kids loved the playground and the showerhouse was clean. I liked that it had a fence so the kids accidentally go on the highway. Other people keep to themselves, so it's quiet in that way. But it is noisy from the highway traffic and the train when it comes through. You cross the tracks to get there. It is literally so easy to get on the highway, an easy in and out. It's a long, but flat and smooth gravel drive to campground going through a field. The lady on the phone was super helpful and booked us right away. To pay or when you show up, you fill put a little form and put the envelope in a box. There is a phone number to call if you have any questions. If you don't mind the traffic and train, it's great place to stay for the whole family, while visiting Omaha or passing through.

I called for a spot because of winter storm it's 0* feels like -15 plenty spots available! He couldn't rent a spot for the night . This place is right off interstate 29 nothing special . No high class or brand new RVs. But because our is a 77 miniwini that we purchased to bring back to life and people love it. ...being said it was to old for him to rent many of his vacant spots just for one night so we could get off road for the winter blast coming through. So much for Safe Travels. I do believe he own the no in front of the camp park. People always judging others will find themselves in a worse place eventually... :you get what u put in and people get what the deserve: "kidrock" I just can't understand what kind of people turn down others for the reason of my RV is not good enough for there camp(pics added) when the US is under a winter Blast. Smh I hope to never be those kind of people.

Great stop! We are a full time family traveling through the area. We stayed here 3 nights. There is a section for long term stays and then a section for overnight stays. We were in the overnight area. The road noise from the interstate was noticeable but didn't both us. There was a nice playground for our kids. I didn't use the bathhouse so I can't speak for that. Interactions with the owners were pleasant. We arrived after a few days of rain in the area. I was intimidated by the gravel road (PTSD from the super mud conditions at Badlands Boondocking in SD) but it wasn't a big deal at all. You cross train tracks on the gravel road and can occasionally hear a train pass. If given the opportunity, we will stay here again!

This was a last minute stop for us. This wasn't planed and we found it when we were 20 minutes out. We called and left a message not really expecting a call back because it was late. We pulled in hoping to find the host and were out of luck - so we thought. We backed off a spot on the gravel road, walked the dog, used the bathroom in our camper, and we're going to be on our way when Sandy pulled up to us. She was so nice and got us situated in a spot in about 5 minutes. We put the $25 in the box and here we are. Blessed that she showed up when she did - we'd still be driving hours later. Aside from the highway noise, and the occasional train off in the distance, this place is great for a quick overnight. It appears that may half the people here are full time or monthly at a minimum. Very quiet (other than the highway). We'll be back.

Great campground! Very clean and they had a lot of pull through parking. Close to the highway, which is a little noisy, but it's nice to still be so close to Omaha. The owners/managers are very helpful and friendly too! They have a nice play structure and bathhouse too.
