Choosing an RV park involves considering various factors, from location and amenities to the overall atmosphere and the kind of experience it promises. La Maison Des Chenes & Mermentau RV Park, with its name evoking both a sense of home ("La Maison Des Chenes" meaning "The House of Oaks") and its proximity to the Mermentau River, hints at a setting deeply connected to Louisiana's natural environment. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what this RV park might offer, helping you decide if it aligns with your vision for your next RV journey or extended stay in our wonderful state. We'll explore its location, potential services, unique features, and how to get in touch, ensuring you have the information you need to plan your visit.

Location and Accessibility

La Maison Des Chenes & Mermentau RV Park is located at 40522 E Lakeshore Rd, Gueydan, LA 70542, USA. Gueydan is a small town in Vermilion Parish, often referred to as the "Duck Capital of America," reflecting its strong ties to waterfowl hunting and the natural wetlands of Southwest Louisiana. This location places the RV park in an area rich in natural beauty, offering a distinctly different experience from urban RV parks.

The address on East Lakeshore Road suggests a setting near water, potentially offering scenic views or direct access to lakes or waterways, which is a significant draw for many RV enthusiasts. While Gueydan itself is a smaller community, its charm lies in its rural tranquility and proximity to natural attractions. Access to the park would generally involve navigating state and local roads. For RVers, particularly those with larger rigs, it's always advisable to review the approach roads to ensure they are comfortable with the turns and overhead clearances, especially when in areas with mature trees. The peaceful nature of Gueydan means less traffic and a slower pace of life, which can be a welcome change for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. While larger cities like Lafayette or Lake Charles are a drive away for extensive shopping or services, Gueydan offers local conveniences, and the primary appeal of this location is its connection to the unique natural environment of Louisiana's coastal prairies and wetlands.

The reason why I'm even giving it one star is because it was 4th of July weekend and that's all that was available! The owner evidently doesn't take pride in his place. Not friendly at all. We stayed by a pier and half of it was falling into the water, outside bench was rotten and totally leaning to one side! Trying to get out with the a 13'.5" tall 5th Wheel was crazy!!! The Oak Trees were hanging so low that it rubbed along the top of our new camper roof😡 Don't ever plan to go back there again! Let all the attached photos be the Judge!
