Lafayette KOA Holiday About
For Louisiana locals seeking a memorable outdoor getaway, or travelers passing through our unique state, finding the right place to set up camp can truly enhance the experience. In the heart of Cajun Country, just a stone's throw from the vibrant city of Lafayette, lies a well-known name in the camping world: Lafayette KOA Holiday. This campground offers a blend of convenience, amenities, and a taste of Louisiana hospitality that has drawn visitors for years.
Lafayette KOA Holiday is more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it's a destination designed to provide comfort and entertainment for all types of campers. As a KOA Holiday branded campground, it aims to offer a robust selection of amenities and activities, making it an ideal spot for both short overnight stays and longer, more immersive vacations. It has earned a reputation, and even national awards, for its offerings, making it a familiar and trusted choice for many.
This article will delve into what makes Lafayette KOA Holiday a prominent choice for camping in Louisiana. We'll explore its strategic location in Scott, discuss the comprehensive range of services and features available, and touch upon any special offers that might enhance your stay. By providing factual insights, including direct feedback from previous visitors, we aim to give local users in Louisiana a clear and engaging overview, helping them decide if Lafayette KOA Holiday is the perfect base for their next adventure.
Lafayette KOA Holiday is conveniently located at 1825 St Mary St, Scott, LA 70583, USA. While it bears the "Lafayette" name, its physical address is in Scott, a charming town often referred to as the "Boudin Capital of the World." This strategic positioning places the campground approximately five miles west of the bustling city of Lafayette, offering campers the best of both worlds: a peaceful retreat with easy access to urban attractions.
The campground's accessibility is a significant advantage, particularly for RV travelers. It is situated right off I-10, at Exit #97 (Scott/Cankton Exit), on the southwest corner. While its proximity to the interstate means some highway noise, as noted by past visitors, it also ensures incredibly easy "in and out" access, making it a prime stop for those traveling across the country or exploring Louisiana's diverse regions. GPS users should be mindful to select "Scott" as the city, not Lafayette, to ensure accurate navigation to the entrance, which itself involves a "double traffic circle" that requires attention but is not the fault of the owners.
Beyond the interstate convenience, the location in Scott provides immediate access to local delights. Scott is renowned for its culinary offerings, especially boudin, with several well-known markets sampling this unique Cajun cuisine just outside the park entrance. Furthermore, the campground serves as an excellent jumping-off point for exploring broader Cajun Country attractions, including Acadian Village, the Tabasco Factory on Avery Island, Konriko Rice Mill, various botanical gardens, and of course, numerous swamp tours in the Atchafalaya Basin or Lake Martin. This central location truly makes Lafayette KOA Holiday a prime base for experiencing all that South Louisiana has to offer.

- Laundry Facilities and Showers: Clean and roomy bathhouses with good water pressure for showers, along with well-maintained laundry facilities, are available, making longer stays more comfortable.
- General Store and Supplies: A well-stocked on-site store provides essential groceries, RV supplies, fishing gear, local coffee, and gifts, catering to immediate needs without requiring a trip into town.
- Trash Pickup: Morning trash pickup service is often provided, adding to the convenience and cleanliness of the sites.
- On-site RV Repairs: While specific details are not extensively public, some mentions suggest the availability of on-site RV repair services, which can be a lifesaver for travelers facing unexpected issues.
These services collectively aim to provide a worry-free and enjoyable camping experience, ensuring that guests have everything they need right at their fingertips.
Lafayette KOA Holiday stands out with several key features and highlights that enhance the camping experience, catering to various interests from relaxation to recreation. While the reviews offer a mixed perspective on certain aspects, the core offerings remain strong.
- 10-Acre Stocked Lake: A prominent feature is the campground's picturesque 10-acre lake. It's not just for scenic views; it's stocked with fish, allowing for free fishing without a license. This provides a relaxing activity for all ages and a chance to catch supper. Kayaks and paddle boats are also available for rent to enjoy the water.
- Two Swimming Pools: The presence of two large swimming pools offers ample opportunity to cool off and relax, especially during Louisiana's warm months (typically open from May 1st to October 15th). This is a popular amenity for families and a great way to unwind.
- Mini Golf Course: For a bit of friendly competition and family fun, the campground features a miniature golf course, providing entertainment right on site.
- Pet-Friendly Amenities: Lafayette KOA Holiday is a pet-friendly campground, complete with a dedicated KampK9® dog park, allowing furry family members to stretch their legs and enjoy their stay.
- Newer Back-Side Sites with Lake Views: According to traveler recommendations, the "newer back-side of the lake area" offers a more peaceful stay and often comes with premium features like concrete pads, covered patios, and swings, providing a more luxurious camping experience.
- Shaded RV Spots and Huge Oak Trees: Many of the RV spots are shaded by huge oak trees, providing welcome relief from the sun and contributing to a comfortable outdoor environment.
- Proximity to Cajun Culinary Delights: Being located in Scott, the "Boudin Capital of the World," means direct access to famous local markets and numerous wonderful restaurants and cafes serving authentic Cajun cuisine.
- Family-Friendly Activities and Events: The campground often organizes planned activities, especially around holidays like Easter and Halloween, making it a lively spot for families. It also serves as a great base for local events like Festivals International and the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival.
While some reviews mention it can be a "popular party spot for locals, especially on holidays and summer weekends" and there's inherent "highway noise" due to I-10 proximity, the variety of amenities and the efforts to create a welcoming environment remain significant highlights.

Customer Reviews
Having family in Lafayette, this KOA has been my go-to location for many years. This last visit, unfortunately, will be my last. I have seen the service and quality of guests decline a lot over time. This is a popular party spot for locals, especially on holidays and summer weekends. The park is pretty large and it would be easy enough to separate the "weekend warriors" from the quiet travelers just looking for a peaceful place to sleep. My wife and I were obviously not party goers, yet were still placed in the middle of party-central despite there being quieter spots elsewhere. The main amenity of the park is certainly the lake. Pretty easy to catch some fish. If you end up staying here, I recommend the newer back-side of the lake area. You will pay a premium but will have a more peaceful stay. As for location, there are a lot of good restaurants and places to eat in Scott, making this a prime location. It is quite noisy since it is right next to I-10. The entrance is ridiculous and tricky if you don't pay attention to the double traffic circle. This, of course, is no fault of the owners.
One of the cleanest campgrounds to be found in the continental U.S.! I've been across few places and I highly recommend this one! Only downside is it's close to I-10, so you have highway noise. Otherwise, great location that's close to all that Lafayette has to offer!
Park right off the interstate with full hook ups. Clean park with large laundry room for doing laundry on the road. They have a pond on the property full of fish and no license is required! Paddle boat rentals and mini golf on site as well. Easy on and off the interstate. Good place to stop on road trips. Have stopped here before and will stop here again
Great location right off I-10. Sites are huge and perfectly fit our 43’ motorhome and dolly without disconnecting. Very nice people!! We were there during the latest historic snow storm. They allowed to change our reservation daily and stay in the same spot. We got propane before we left. It’s well maintained and quiet. Would highly recommend!!!!!
Stayed one night in a two-room camping cabin while passing through. Fortunately we got in early enough to enjoy the mini golf and pedalboats. Overall a very nice campground with a large pond at its center. Everything was clean and cared for. We loved how the cabins were situated with the front porches facing the water. Our cabin had 2 AC units, a small heater, two sets of bunk beds and a full bed (very comfortable). No fridge or table. One thing to be aware of is the road noise from I-10. The traffic goes through the night. I was prepared for this from what I read in other reviews, so we brought ear plugs. It also helps to run the AC unit to drown out the sound of the traffic (fan only setting on cooler nights). Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!
