Lake Chemung Outdoor Resort About
For residents across Michigan, finding the ideal spot for a relaxing getaway, whether for a weekend or an extended stay, often involves balancing outdoor recreation with comfortable amenities. Lake Chemung Outdoor Resort, nestled in Howell, Michigan, presents a unique proposition that blends the tranquility of a resort setting with a wealth of activities. This article is designed specifically for local users in the Michigan region, offering a clear, engaging, and informative overview of what makes Lake Chemung Outdoor Resort a suitable and appealing choice for their leisure needs.
The term "campground" often conjures images of tents and rustic experiences. However, Lake Chemung Outdoor Resort operates more akin to a modern outdoor resort, featuring a significant presence of park model homes alongside traditional RV sites. A park model home is a type of recreational vehicle that is built on a single chassis and is designed to be set up in a permanent or semi-permanent location. This distinction means that while traditional RVers are welcome, a substantial portion of the community consists of more established, vacation-style homes, contributing to a "nice quiet place to relax." This setup caters to those seeking a more settled, resort-like atmosphere with ample opportunities for leisure and comfort, rather than a purely primitive camping experience.
The resort’s appeal lies in its diverse range of activities and facilities. With options such as horseshoes, mini golf, tennis and pickleball courts, and a refreshing pool, there's no shortage of ways to stay active and entertained. Furthermore, direct access to the lake and a beach area enhance the aquatic opportunities, allowing for swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the waterfront. The convenience of an 18-hole golf course right next door adds another layer of recreational appeal for golf enthusiasts. While one review points out a potential issue with website clarity regarding indoor pool availability during certain seasons, the overall sentiment highlights a pleasant, activity-rich environment with friendly and helpful staff, making it a compelling destination for a varied Michigan audience.

Customer Reviews
Not really a campground due to all of the park model homes on the property, but it's still a nice quiet place to relax. I would guess and say there are about 80% park models, 20% open, paved sites for rv's. Lots of activities such as horseshoes, mini golf, tennis/pickleball court, pool, as well as a beach and lake access. 18 hole golf course right next door. No bike trails are nearby, which was disappointing. Friendly and helpful staff.
We booked a long weekend at the end of March, because the website said they had an indoor pool. We were looking for something fun to do with our kids. Once we were there, we were told the pool is closed during the “winter”. It does not say that on the website anywhere, it said “indoor pool”. I spoke with a staff member, who said they’d get back to me. After calling again and an email, someone finally emailed back weeks later. They were rude and said, our pools not open in the winter. I already stated, that I understood that, but their website was misleading and false advertising. The did not even apologize.
Electricity prices are beyond belief $700 for a month and office staff unable to show proof of breakdown of this price...two previous months were up there but the last month was unbelievable. Office staff were rude...Lisa would not let you get a word in constantly interrupting, we told Nicole that we didn't want the $700 to come out of our card on file and that an alternate card would be supplied the very next day and she was supposed to have relayed that message....and didn't so the amount was withdrawn from the incorrect account. SECURITY and MAINTENANCE staff were amazing very helpful.....office staff need to work on their customer service skills.
I have stayed here mostly in the winter and the staff here are always friendly. Nichol and Lisa make you feel right at home. Watching Jerome and Ron outside in the cold usually helping someone or fixing things shows how much they care for the park. The park is coming along nice.
From the time we arrived, they greet you at the entrance and escort you to your site and are wonderful. Some of the sites are kind of tight, but overall the campground is a really nice place to stay. Most sites appear pretty level, the electric was strong, I am in the bath houses were immaculate. The bathrooms, showers were large and spacious and clean. All the people seem really nice and gracious. This camp is mostly park models and campers with a few spots for rental. Garbage pick up every day from your site is a definite plus.
