We will explore its location, the services it typically offers, and what to expect from this established park, based on publicly available information. Our goal is to help you determine if Lakepoint Campground is the right fit for your next Georgia outdoor experience.
Lakepoint Campground, located in Acworth, GA, presents itself as an established camping and RV park designed to accommodate a range of visitors. As is common with many older, privately operated campgrounds, Lakepoint Campground appears to cater to both transient campers seeking a short-term stay and those looking for a more extended or semi-permanent RV spot. The name "Lakepoint" itself suggests a proximity to water, likely Lake Allatoona, which is a major recreational hub in this part of Georgia.
Customer reviews provide a mixed but insightful picture. While some comments are critical, highlighting concerns about cleanliness ("Lady needs to clean restrooms laundry room. it's more like a scrape yard terrible lady in charge is nasty if she doesn't like u she kick u of property needs health department to go in there plus zoning needs to clean up this nasty rv park") and overall upkeep ("put it this way.. a tornado hitting this place would be an improvement which is too bad bc it would be a great investment for someone that would actually take are of it and clean it up"), it indicates that the park is operational and serves as a lodging option. These reviews underscore that potential visitors should manage their expectations regarding amenities and aesthetic appeal, and perhaps prioritize the park's practical location. It functions as a direct point of access to the Acworth area, and for many, a place to simply park their RV or set up camp while exploring the region or residing for longer periods.
Lakepoint Campground is situated at 5134 N Shores Rd NW, Acworth, GA 30101, USA. Acworth is a vibrant city in Cobb County, located in the northwestern part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. This particular address places the campground strategically for access to one of Georgia's most popular recreational lakes, Lake Allatoona.
The accessibility of Lakepoint Campground is a significant advantage for Georgia residents. North Shores Road NW provides direct access to the campground from main thoroughfares. Acworth itself is well-connected by major roads, including Highway 92 and Cobb Parkway (US-41), both of which link directly to Interstate 75. I-75 is a primary north-south interstate in Georgia, making the campground easily reachable from Atlanta and other major cities throughout the state.
Being in Acworth, visitors to Lakepoint Campground benefit from proximity to a wide range of amenities. Within a short drive, campers can access:
-
Lake Allatoona: Offering boating, fishing, swimming, and various water sports. The campground's name suggests very close proximity or even direct access to the lake.
-
Downtown Acworth: A charming historic downtown area with local shops, restaurants, and community events.
-
Shopping and Dining: Numerous retail centers, grocery stores, and diverse dining options are readily available along Cobb Parkway and throughout Acworth.
-
Local Parks and Recreation: Beyond Lake Allatoona, there are several local parks offering trails, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces.
-
Major Employment Centers: For long-term residents, the proximity to various business districts in Cobb County and the broader Atlanta metro area is a considerable benefit.
This blend of lakeside leisure and urban convenience makes Lakepoint Campground's location highly practical for both short-term visitors and extended stays.
Based on its designation as a campground and RV park, Lakepoint Campground would typically offer essential services required for RV and tent camping. While customer reviews indicate concerns about the condition of some facilities, the core services would likely include:
-
RV Sites with Hookups: Most RV parks provide individual sites equipped with essential hookups, including electricity (likely 30 and/or 50 amp), water, and sewer connections. These are fundamental for self-contained RVs.
-
Tent Camping Areas: There might be designated areas or specific sites suitable for traditional tent camping, though the focus appears to be on RVs.
-
Restroom Facilities: Communal restrooms are a standard offering at campgrounds to provide facilities for campers without self-contained units.
-
Laundry Room: As mentioned in a review, a laundry room is likely available for residents and guests to do their washing.
-
Long-Term Stay Options: Given the nature of some reviews suggesting "mostly long-term campers," it's highly probable that the park offers flexible or discounted rates for extended stays, such as weekly or monthly rentals.
-
Basic Access and Parking: Providing access roads and designated parking areas for both RVs and accompanying vehicles.
It is crucial for prospective visitors to contact the campground directly to confirm the current availability and condition of these services, especially in light of past customer feedback.
Despite critical reviews regarding maintenance, certain features of Lakepoint Campground remain highlights, primarily due to its inherent nature as a camping facility and its location:
-
Strategic Location Near Lake Allatoona: This is arguably its strongest feature. Being close to Lake Allatoona provides easy access to a vast array of water-based recreational activities, including boating, fishing, swimming, and paddle sports.
-
Proximity to Acworth Amenities: The campground's location in Acworth means convenient access to grocery stores, restaurants, local shops, and other essential services, making stays practical and comfortable.
-
Accommodates RVs: It provides a space for RVers, offering the necessary hookups for self-contained units, which is fundamental for this type of travel.
-
Potential for Long-Term Stays: For individuals or families needing an extended place to park their RV in the Cobb County area, Lakepoint offers this essential service, which can be difficult to find.
-
Established Presence: As an existing campground, it has an established structure for handling reservations and basic camper needs.
It is important for potential visitors to weigh these benefits against the feedback concerning the park's condition and to verify current circumstances directly with the management.
As with many established, privately-owned campgrounds, particularly those that cater to a mix of short-term and long-term stays, specific promotions are typically handled directly by management and may not be widely advertised. While concrete "special offers" for Lakepoint Campground are not publicly detailed, potential visitors should inquire about standard industry practices:
-
Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Rates: Most RV parks offer tiered pricing, where the nightly rate decreases significantly for weekly and especially monthly stays. For those planning an extended visit or residing in the area, inquiring about monthly rates would be the primary "special offer."
-
Seasonal Pricing: Rates may vary based on the season, with potential lower rates during off-peak times, although the demand for spaces near Lake Allatoona could influence this.
-
Discount Programs: While not confirmed, some parks offer discounts for specific affiliations (e.g., Good Sam Club, Passport America), though this should always be verified.
To ascertain any current rates, availability, or potential discounts, interested Georgians are strongly encouraged to contact Lakepoint Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Lady needs to clean restrooms laundry room. it's more like a scrape yard terrible lady in charge is nasty if she doesn't like u she kick u of property needs health department to go in there plus zoning needs to clean up this nasty rv park
Went by to look at this place because of the location.. put it this way.. a tornado hitting this place would be an improvement which is too bad bc it would be a great investment for someone that would actually take are of it and clean it up
The lady running the park was super helpful in finding us the perfect spot. And she went above and beyond our expectations with her recommendations and advice of how to position our RV in such a way as to maximize all that the campground has to offer.
I was going to rent a spot here while working in Acworth. But it's really very trashy. A lot of permanent residents it seems. Some of the CAMPERS have decks built around them and like additions. Like they haven't moved for years. Driving thru some of the people I saw looked very sketchy. I felt like nothing left outside would be safe.
my husband and I have been here for eight months. My husband is certified to work inside and out on rvs since 2004. He certified in RVIA. We currently do our mobile buisiness. The people here all help each other., All pretty much sre like family watching out for each other. Manager is holding her full time job plus her family life together so the best way to get a hold of her is text. She does stay very busy. Overall cannot complain about the price or community once you get in here to know every body becomes like family
