Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey About

Are you planning a road trip through North Carolina, or perhaps looking for a convenient and comfortable spot to set up camp for a few nights? For many locals in the Tar Heel State, especially those traveling along the bustling I-95 corridor, finding a reliable and enjoyable campground is key to a successful journey or a relaxing getaway. That's where Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey comes in. This well-regarded campground offers a prime location and a host of amenities designed to make your stay as pleasant as possible, whether you're passing through or looking to explore the Lumberton area.

Camping in North Carolina is an experience cherished by many, from the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains to the serene Outer Banks, and everywhere in between. While the state offers a vast array of camping experiences, from rustic backcountry sites to luxurious glamping resorts, KOA campgrounds like the one in Lumberton provide a consistent and reliable level of service and amenities that travelers have come to trust. They bridge the gap between primitive camping and hotel stays, offering the best of both worlds – the freedom of the outdoors with the comforts of modern conveniences.

Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey is part of the extensive KOA family, specifically designated as a "Journey" campground. This means it's ideally suited for travelers on the move, offering convenient access, long pull-through sites for easy RV parking, and essential services to ensure a smooth overnight stay. However, as local reviews highlight, this particular KOA goes above and beyond, providing a welcoming atmosphere and engaging activities that make it suitable for longer stays and family fun. It’s a place where you can pull in, unwind, and truly take a load off, just as the KOA Journey promise suggests.

Location and Accessibility

Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey is strategically situated at 465 Kenric Rd, Lumberton, NC 28360, USA. This location offers unparalleled convenience, especially for those traveling on the East Coast's major north-south artery, Interstate 95. As its name suggests, the campground boasts easy access on and off both I-95 and I-74, making it an ideal stopover point for cross-state or cross-country journeys. It's also conveniently located just about 20 minutes from the South Carolina border, serving as a perfect resting spot whether you're heading north towards New England and Canada or south to Florida.

The ease of access is a significant highlight for many visitors. Reviewers consistently praise its accessibility, noting that it simplifies the process of pulling a large RV in and out of the park. While located close to major interstates, the campground manages to maintain a pleasant environment. However, it's worth noting, as one reviewer mentioned, that the proximity to I-95 can result in some road noise, particularly for those in tent sites. Despite this, the overall convenience often outweighs this minor consideration for most campers.

Beyond its interstate accessibility, the campground's location in Lumberton provides a gateway to exploring Southeastern North Carolina. While Lumberton itself is a hub of local activity with dining and shopping options, the KOA's proximity to other regional attractions is a big plus. Within a reasonable drive, campers can find various points of interest, from historic sites to natural wonders, making it a suitable base for day trips and local exploration.

Services Offered

Lumberton / I-95 KOA Journey prides itself on providing a comprehensive range of services designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all types of campers. They also feature premium Tent Sites for those who prefer traditional camping under the stars. Additionally, the campground offers Deluxe Patio sites for RVs, which come with amenities like a concrete patio, charcoal grill, picnic table, and fire pit, and there are also cabins and campers available for rent, providing comfortable lodging even without your own RV or tent.

  • Impeccable Bathhouses and Laundry Facilities: Cleanliness is a top priority, as highlighted by a customer review praising the "impeccable" bathrooms with showers. The campground provides well-maintained bathhouses for guest use. A recently updated laundry room is also available, a crucial convenience for travelers on longer trips.

These amenities make it a fantastic spot for families and groups looking for active leisure.

First, the person at the front desk was extremely kind- I even got a Mothers Day flower. She knew me by name my first time coming back into the front office. The sites are divided nicely- unlike some KOAs where the camp sites are seemingly on top of each other. There's a lot to do right on the campground- dog park, pool, horseshoe, outdoor games. The bathrooms were impeccable- clean, a shower, nice spot to cool off! The only downfall was While sleeping in the tent it was a little loud due to I95 being not even half a mile away. It was hard to find a garbage can as well but overall a great stay!

Very clean and well maintained KOA. Super clean and updated bathhouse and very friendly employees. Great playground and dog park too! Only thing is the sound of traffic. But, it is a Journey and it was surprising nice! Recommend.

Very nice KOA. Beautiful scenic trail. The sites are level and the utilities are nicely spaced. Very large sites. The only reason it's not a 5 is the Internet is non existent. It's so sad it doesn't even show up on my Roku. There is some highway noise since this KOA is literally right off the highway.
