The park's proximity to major routes makes it an accessible stop for travelers heading east or west across the state, or for those simply seeking a weekend escape. As an RV park actively undergoing development, McGinty Sandbur Ranch and Recreation offers a foundational set of services for campers, with the promise of more to come. It’s important for prospective visitors to understand that while core amenities are present, some aspects are still being refined.

  • RV Hookups:

The park provides sites with electrical hookups, essential for any modern RV. Some sites also include sewer hookups, though it's noted that the positioning and height of these connections can vary and may require some flexibility from campers. Water hookups are generally available, allowing for a comfortable stay.

  • Restroom and Shower Facilities:

McGinty Sandbur Ranch and Recreation offers bathhouse facilities for guests. These facilities, described as shipping containers, are functional but are noted by past visitors as being in a state of ongoing development. I was so excited for this campground. We are heading west from Michigan and were just in for one night. Looking forward to the River view and amenities. Even thought there would be a mini museum (my daughter is a digital artist) We pulled in really unsure of where to go. The signage is severely lacking. Thanks to our wonderful neighbors we found our spot. The spot was made on uneven blacktop with muddy gravel for our camp spot. My camper was wedged between the sewage pipe and the fire pit. Made us a bit concerned to even have a fire. Not sure of the planning and if we actually parked in the correct way? My electric line was stretched to its full extent but we couldn’t go back further because of the plot sign and a baby tree. (#208) Maybe this is normal for Nebraska? So we decide to try out the bathhouse. It is a shipping container. We are seasoned rural campers so we will handle a lot but it was a bit shocking. A dirty shower curtain on the women’s side blocking it from the men’s, no doors on the 2 stalls and the showers made me feel dirtier than I was mucking through the mud to get there. The toilets on the women’s side were both plugged and to the managements credit they came out and fixed it as soon as I notified them. They worked on it for a few hours and was in working order by morning. This is obviously a work in progress and we’d love to see where you are in a few years but right now it’s pretty rough. Add some grass and separate clean bathhouses for men and women with doors and better signage and lighting. Your spot on the river is beautiful and the patio and bonfire spot has real potential. Good luck on growing your campground, be honest with your potential campers, we see you’re working on it but not quite there. Good luck

Awful. Not as advertised in pictures. Disappointed as we were very excited to try this place out based on their website. It is still in construction mode clearly and the parts that are complete are a separate campground. The access to the river is treacherous at best and not kid friendly. The nicest access to the water is not part of the campground either, with no signage dictating what is or isn’t a part of the place. Pictures on the website are deceiving. The sewer hookups are either too tall or too crooked, the lot pads are a mix of dirt, gravel and asphalt. We left after one night although we booked 2. I do believe this place has potential if and when it’s finished properly. The town around seems great for families so hopefully the owner can finish it out nicely and fix the river access issues, proper signage and lot pads.

Robin and Chris are amazing!! They are very helpful, appreciative , and attentive! They told us it was rustic and still working on the grounds cause there knew to this, I live the whole rustic vibe.. its a beautiful spot! We stayed a month and it was the best most quiet, relaxing camp ground we have ever stayed at! They have an amazing beach front area where we took the boys and the corgis down to get cooled off and watch the sunsets! Everybody that camps down there is also very nice and keeps to themselves! Robin & Chris also has fire pits, picnic tables rite at your campsite! I highly recommend McGinty Sanbur Ranch!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING US! We appreciate you both! ❤️ Sincerely, The Cain Crew

We are sitting here as I type. They are obviously in a construction phase. The RV sites are small, tight and dirt. I registered a 40 ft RV pulling a Jeep. Chose site 208. We thought it was a pull through site but were mistaken. The person who arrived just after us was to camp RIGHT in front of our RV and we were requested to back up. In so doing, the power box was no longer accessible without using an extension cord. The lady who came right down to check in with us was very polite and definitely had no idea about the amount of space the RV requires. The roadway to the campground was severely lacking in maintenance. Dirt, washboard and narrow. Public restrooms and showers were housed in a boxcar. The access to the lake was not obvious or clearly marked. Not to sure the value is here for the price they charge for full hook up. I’m not afraid to boondock and we aren’t afraid of new adventures. This place is good on paper, and may be a friendly spot, however, it is not ready to be a hot spot for camping. This place will be very awesome in a few years, once the growing pains are worked out.

We stopped at this campground for 1 night on our way out west. We knew we would be getting in late but it is self check in so we weren't worried. However, when we got there we had a hard time finding the campground from the main houses due to poor signage and/or lighting. Once we found the campground we had trouble finding our site because there was minimal signage. Even the site numbers were hard to find. The electric didn't work once we did find our site. I emailed the owners as I didn't want to wake them over non essentials at midnight and they never responded (it is 4 days later). This worked for our needs but definitely not a great experience.
