Furthermore, its proximity to major highways facilitates travel within Springfield and to surrounding areas in Central Illinois. This makes daily commutes and access to various city attractions, such as the Adams Wildlife Sanctuary, the Old State Capitol building, and the Cozy Dog Drive-In, convenient for residents. The area is served by public transportation, offering additional options for those without personal vehicles. Typical "incentives" for mobile home communities might include:
Given the strong negative feedback from residents, any advertised "incentives" should be approached with extreme caution and thoroughly verified. Prospective residents in Illinois are strongly advised to:
The primary "offer" that might still attract some residents is the access to manufactured home living in Springfield, although the rapidly increasing rent mentioned by one reviewer ("started paying 1100 am now paying 1400") further complicates the perception of value.

Based on the provided information, including highly critical resident reviews, Northbrook MHC in Springfield, IL, presents significant challenges that make its suitability for Illinois locals highly questionable. While the concept of manufactured home living can be an attractive housing option for some, the specific experiences reported by residents at Northbrook MHC raise serious concerns.
The primary factor that might draw some Illinois locals to Northbrook MHC is its location in Springfield. Being "just a ten-minute drive north from downtown Springfield" offers convenience for accessing city amenities, employment, and services. For individuals and families who prioritize being within the Springfield area and are exploring manufactured home living specifically, the address itself might appear appealing. Additionally, the presence of "brand new" trailers could suggest modern living spaces, though this is contradicted by claims of them "already falling apart."
However, the overwhelming negative feedback from residents is a critical component that overshadows any potential benefits. Reports of "rude management," "no security," "cars, sheds and homes are being broken into," "new rules for the park all the time," and difficulty getting issues resolved paint a picture of a challenging living environment. The rapid increase in rent ("started paying 1100 am now paying 1400") for units that are "already falling apart" indicates a poor return on investment for residents. Concerns about "kids running around tearing stuff up in my yard" also suggest a lack of community oversight. The explicit warning from a reviewer, "Do not considered living here. My recommendation is run!!," cannot be ignored.
Therefore, for Illinois locals seeking a stable, safe, and well-managed residential community, Northbrook MHC, based on current public reviews, appears to be an unsuitable choice. While the idea of a mobile home park can offer affordability and individual space, the documented issues regarding management, maintenance, security, and escalating costs strongly suggest that potential residents would face considerable frustrations and potential risks. It is imperative that any Illinois resident considering this community prioritize their well-being, financial security, and peace of mind over any perceived convenience or initial incentives, which, according to reviews, may not materialize.

Absolutely the WORST place you could ever live or rent. PERIOD. Your not allowed to have company or your companies vehicle will be towed. They are rude and make up new rules for the park all the time. As soon as my 1 year is up we are moving. Worst place to ever stay. 0/10 recommend. New management all the time. Don’t waist your time or money. I started paying 1100 am now paying 1400 to stay in a trailer that’s brand new and already falling apart.
Mar 03, 2025 · Culton MyersDo not considered living here. My recommendation is run!! I've had nothing but issues since moving here. Kids running around tearing stuff up in my yard. Can't ever get ahold of anyone is there's an issue. When you do get ahold of someone you get the run around. Nothing is ever resolved. Don't believe the incentives to move in. I've been here over 6mo and yet to received mine.

Feb 15, 2025 · Keturah McClendonBeware of Northbrook Mobile Home Community – Unethical Practices and Intimidation Tactics! I’ve lived at Northbrook for a while now, and let me tell you, things have gone completely downhill over the last year. Management used to be decent, but now it’s a nightmare. The community's practices have become downright unethical. Instead of addressing resident concerns professionally, they rely on intimidation tactics. I’ve personally received phone calls where I was pressured and made to feel uncomfortable, as if their main goal is to bully people into compliance. This isn’t just one isolated incident either—there’s a pattern here, and it’s only getting worse. If you’re a current resident and experiencing any of these issues, I highly recommend you contact corporate directly. The local management here is no longer trustworthy, and it seems they are more focused on enforcing ridiculous policies than maintaining the community. Bottom line: Avoid Northbrook if you value peace of mind and ethical management. This place is not what it used to be!
