Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities About
For individuals and families in Kansas, particularly those affiliated with the military at Fort Riley, finding suitable housing in Junction City is a key consideration. Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities, located at 1717 Westwood Blvd #20, Junction City, KS, present a housing option in the area. Like any residential community, it's important to understand the experiences of current and past residents to make an informed decision. These communities have been the subject of varied and, in some cases, concerning feedback from tenants, highlighting the importance of thorough investigation before committing.
While the communities offer mobile home living in Junction City, a city with direct ties to Fort Riley, reviews from former residents, particularly those with military affiliation, indicate significant challenges. Repeated concerns have been raised regarding management's responsiveness and communication, as well as the condition of the rental units. These experiences suggest that while a mobile home might offer an alternative housing solution, potential tenants need to exercise extreme caution and due diligence.
It is crucial for prospective residents to understand that the information available suggests a need for robust self-advocacy and a meticulous approach to any rental agreement. The phrase "Do not rent or live here" echoed in multiple reviews serves as a strong warning, emphasizing issues with deposit returns and the perceived quality of the homes. For locals considering Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities, particularly military personnel who may have specific support systems like JAG (Judge Advocate General) to assist with housing disputes, understanding these potential pitfalls upfront is paramount to ensuring a smooth and fair housing experience.
Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities are situated at 1717 Westwood Blvd #20, Junction City, KS 66441, USA. This address places the communities within Junction City, a city in Geary County, Kansas, widely recognized for its close proximity to Fort Riley, a significant U.S. Army installation. This geographical advantage makes these communities a direct housing option for military personnel and their families stationed at Fort Riley, as well as civilians working in support of the base.
Westwood Blvd is a local street within Junction City, suggesting that the communities are integrated into the city's residential fabric. This typically means residents would have reasonable access to local amenities. Junction City itself offers various essential services, including grocery stores, dining establishments, retail outlets, and access to healthcare facilities. The city is also connected to major highways in Kansas, such as I-70, facilitating travel to other parts of the state for work, family visits, or recreation.
The location within Junction City provides residents with access to local schools and community services. For military families who frequently relocate, having housing options close to the base and essential services can be a significant logistical benefit. However, proximity to a military base can also influence the rental market and community dynamics. While the physical location offers convenience, the experience of living within the communities themselves, as detailed in reviews, should be thoroughly weighed against this locational advantage.
-
Mobile Home Lot Rentals: The communities primarily offer spaces for mobile homes, presumably with the necessary utility hookups (water, sewer, electricity) for residents to place their homes. Some units may also be park-owned rentals.
-
Property Management: The communities have management in place, as indicated by tenant interactions and disputes, implying responsibilities for overseeing the park's operations and tenant relations.
-
Proximity to Fort Riley: Located in Junction City, which is directly adjacent to Fort Riley, making it a convenient housing option for military personnel and their families.
Publicly available information does not specify any current promotions or special offers for Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities. Mobile home parks typically operate on a long-term rental basis for individual lots, with pricing structures usually set for monthly or annual leases.
However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised by past reviewers regarding financial dealings and management's word. Multiple reviews directly accuse the management of being "sleezy and just looking for a quick buck," specifically citing issues with the return of security deposits. One reviewer stated, "completely screwed me out of my deposits. Lived there for a few months and they kept everything." Another mentioned never receiving "any move out statements or deposits back." These are very serious allegations that directly impact financial agreements and highlight a significant risk for prospective tenants.
Therefore, prospective residents are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and diligence when considering Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities. It is absolutely paramount to:
-
Obtain all rental agreements, lease terms, and detailed policies regarding security deposits, move-out procedures, and any potential fees in writing. Do not rely on verbal agreements.
-
Thoroughly document the condition of the mobile home before moving in, taking extensive photos and videos. This includes documenting any existing damage, water damage, or poorly "fixed" areas, as mentioned in reviews.
-
Understand the exact process for deposit returns and demand a written acknowledgment of receipt for all payments.
-
If renting a park-owned home, thoroughly inspect the unit for issues such as cleanliness, water damage, structural integrity, and the functionality of appliances and utilities before signing any lease.
-
For military personnel, leverage resources such as your Legal Assistance Office (JAG) at Fort Riley for legal review of lease agreements and assistance with any disputes.
Given the strong warnings from previous tenants, direct and meticulous communication, combined with comprehensive documentation, is not just recommended but essential for anyone considering a tenancy at Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities.

For residents of Kansas, especially military personnel and their families stationed at Fort Riley, Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities represent a housing option in Junction City. Its primary suitability for a local audience, particularly the military community, lies in its geographical proximity to Fort Riley, which is often a critical factor for housing choices. For those seeking housing near the base, these communities offer a direct residential location within Junction City, potentially reducing commute times and providing a convenient base for military duties and family life.
However, it is imperative for locals considering these communities to proceed with extreme caution and a thorough understanding of the potential challenges highlighted in tenant reviews. While the location offers convenience, the recurring feedback from past residents regarding management's communication, the condition of the "homes" (described as "dirty, have water damage, and poorly 'fixed'"), and significant issues with the return of security deposits ("completely screwed me out of my deposits") are serious concerns.
For Kansans, particularly those with military affiliation, the advisories to "Do not rent or live here" are stark warnings. If, despite these strong cautions, a local user finds themselves considering this option, perhaps due to limited availability of other housing, it is absolutely critical to take proactive steps:
-
Engage legal assistance, such as JAG for military personnel, to review all lease agreements meticulously before signing.
-
Conduct a comprehensive, documented inspection of the specific mobile home unit, ideally with a witness, taking extensive photos and videos of its condition prior to move-in.
-
Ensure all financial terms, particularly those related to security deposits and move-out statements, are explicitly detailed in writing and understood by all parties.
-
Be aware of local housing laws and tenant rights to protect against potential disputes.
In summary, while Northwind and Elmdale Mobile Home Communities might offer a convenient address for those connected to Fort Riley in Junction City, the serious concerns raised by former tenants necessitate an exceptionally vigilant and prepared approach from any prospective local resident. For many, the issues highlighted in reviews may strongly suggest exploring other housing options in the Junction City area first.
Customer Reviews
Do not rent or live here. Management is disrespectful and unhelpful. Lived there 6 months and never received any move out statements or deposits back. They are sleezy and just looking for a quick buck. The “homes” are dirty, have water damage, and poorly “fixed” we are military affiliated so thankful they are helping us through the process but I would hate to have anyone go through this especially if you don’t have help from JAG.
Soldier from fort riley and they completely screwed me out of my deposits. Lived there for a few months and they kept everything. Management sucks, is disrespectful, and has bad communication. Do not live or rent here. Also be sure to look up the registry bc depending on where you’re located theres many in and around these homes.
Scammers who take thousands from innocent families. Zero communication, zero apologies, no help, it’s a waste of time. I’d give a zero star if I could but it wasn’t an option. :) Go anywhere else!
They are trying to scam my cousin and her family with a young baby and one on the way out of 2,300$. I do NOT recommend renting through them.
Shooootttttt I forgot one other thing. Half the 5 star reviews listed were from them themselves. Sooooo yikes, and let this be another reminder.. just take a pass if you were ever considering.
