Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground About

For Kentucky residents seeking an RV park or campground for a getaway, Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground in Verona, Kentucky, is one option that may appear on your radar. Located in a scenic area, this establishment aims to provide a destination for travelers and locals alike looking to enjoy the outdoors. RV resorts and campgrounds typically offer a range of amenities and services tailored to both short-term stays and longer-term seasonal residents, providing a home base for exploring the surrounding Northern Kentucky region.

Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground positions itself as a place for relaxation and enjoyment in a natural setting. These types of facilities often highlight the peace and quiet of rural locations while still being accessible to local attractions. The ideal experience at an RV resort or campground typically involves hassle-free booking, clear communication, and a welcoming atmosphere that enhances your trip. For many, a positive camping or RVing experience hinges on reliable service and fair policies.

However, recent customer reviews for Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground indicate significant concerns that prospective visitors should be aware of. One detailed review highlights a frustrating cancellation experience, noting that cabin bookings are exclusively handled through Airbnb. This customer reported delayed communication ("took an entire business day to reply" despite a 30-minute advertised reply window), a strict cancellation policy ("only She could approve a 100% refund"), and a perception of a "heartless staff" for retaining a significant portion of the booking fee during extenuating circumstances (job loss). The customer explicitly advises, "Book at your own risk and hope nothing bad happens because this company and AirBnB doesn't care and they get paid. Buyer beware." Another review details a negative experience concerning a camper purchase. This individual claims that a staff member, Louise, promised first dibs on a camper, then became unreachable by phone and sold the camper to someone else. This led the reviewer to state, "Don’t trust them!!!" and question the overall management and reliability of the campground. These critical reviews suggest potential issues with communication, customer service, and overall business practices, which are vital considerations for anyone planning to stay or conduct business with Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground.

Location and Accessibility

Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground is situated at 13329 Oak Creek Rd, Verona, KY 41092, USA. Verona is a community located in Boone County, Kentucky, offering a blend of rural tranquility and convenient access to larger urban centers. The address on Oak Creek Road suggests a location nestled away from major thoroughfares, providing a peaceful environment that many campers and RV enthusiasts seek. Despite its seemingly secluded feel, Verona offers good connectivity to Northern Kentucky's main arteries, including I-71, which runs nearby. This allows for relatively easy access from Cincinnati, Ohio, and other major cities in Kentucky, making it a practical destination for both local Kentuckians and out-of-state visitors. The surrounding area of Boone County provides access to local amenities, including some dining options and general stores, while more extensive shopping, entertainment, and services are available in nearby cities like Florence, KY, or across the river in Cincinnati, OH. The location is appealing for those looking for a quiet retreat that is still within a reasonable driving distance of regional attractions and necessities.

Services Offered

While detailed information about the full suite of services offered at Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground is not extensively provided in the reviews, based on its designation as an "RV Resort and Campground," common services typically found at such establishments include:

  • RV Sites: The primary service would be providing dedicated sites for recreational vehicles, which commonly include various hookup options.
  • Utility Hookups: RV sites usually offer essential utilities such as electric (30/50 amp), water, and sewer connections for guest convenience.
  • Tent Camping: Many campgrounds also provide designated areas for tent campers, catering to a broader range of outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Cabin Rentals: As indicated by the reviews, Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground offers cabins for rent, though these are exclusively booked through Airbnb, implying a separate booking process for this accommodation type.
  • Restrooms and Showers: Standard campground amenities typically include facilities for personal hygiene, though their condition or availability is not mentioned in the provided reviews.
  • Laundry Facilities: Some RV resorts offer coin-operated laundry facilities for residents and guests.
  • Recreational Amenities: Higher-end RV resorts often provide amenities like a pool, playground, communal gathering areas, or perhaps a small store. These are not confirmed in the provided data.
  • On-Site Management: There is a management presence, as implied by the interactions described in the reviews (e.g., "Shelly," "Louise"), which handles bookings, cancellations, and general park operations. However, the effectiveness and responsiveness of this management are points of concern in the reviews.

Features / Highlights

Based on its designation as an "RV Resort and Campground" and general expectations for such facilities, here are some potential features and highlights, though specific confirmation from positive resident experiences is limited in the provided reviews:

  • RV Park Infrastructure: The presence of dedicated RV sites implies the necessary infrastructure to support recreational vehicles, including space for parking and maneuvering.
  • Cabin Accommodations: The availability of cabins for rent offers an alternative lodging option for those without an RV or who prefer a more traditional cabin experience.
  • Natural Setting: Located on Oak Creek Rd in Verona, the campground likely offers a peaceful, natural environment, potentially featuring wooded areas or open spaces conducive to outdoor relaxation.
  • Proximity to Northern Kentucky Attractions: Its location provides access to various regional attractions, including local parks, dining in Verona or nearby towns, and the broader offerings of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
  • Accessibility: Being in Boone County, it benefits from good road networks, making it reasonably accessible for travelers from surrounding states and within Kentucky.

However, it is crucial to temper these potential highlights with the significant concerns raised by recent customer reviews. The issues described regarding unresponsive management, strict and seemingly unyielding cancellation policies, and questionable business practices (e.g., the camper sale incident) should be a primary consideration. The perceived "heartless staff" and explicit warnings like "Buyer beware" severely impact any potential positive features, suggesting that the operational aspects and customer service might currently overshadow any physical amenities.

Promotions or Special Offers

Information regarding specific "promotions or special offers" for Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground is not available in the provided customer reviews, which instead focus on negative experiences with booking and customer service. RV resorts and campgrounds may occasionally offer seasonal discounts, extended stay rates, or special packages, especially during off-peak times. However, based on the customer feedback, the primary concern for prospective visitors would likely be understanding the standard booking policies, particularly for cancellations, rather than seeking promotional deals. The reviews highlight a rigid cancellation policy where a significant portion of the booking fee was retained even under extenuating circumstances, and a perceived lack of grace from management. For any pricing information, availability, or to inquire about any (unconfirmed) special offers, it is essential to contact Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground directly. However, given the strong warnings from past customers, prospective visitors should proceed with caution and clarify all terms and conditions, especially those related to cancellations and refunds, before making any commitments.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Kentucky locals considering an RV or camping trip within the state, Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground in Verona presents itself as an option for outdoor accommodation. Its location in Northern Kentucky offers a quiet, rural setting while still being reasonably accessible to major roadways and the amenities of nearby towns and cities like Florence or Cincinnati. The potential availability of RV sites and cabins caters to different preferences for outdoor stays.

However, it is critically important for local Kentuckians to be fully aware of the significant concerns raised by recent customer reviews before making any booking decisions. The complaints regarding challenging customer service, particularly concerning booking and cancellation policies (especially for Airbnb cabin rentals), and allegations of unresponsiveness and questionable business practices, are serious. While the physical location might be appealing, the negative experiences reported by previous customers, including financial losses due to strict cancellation terms and distrust in staff promises, suggest that the operational aspects of this campground currently pose considerable risks to customer satisfaction. Therefore, while it exists as a local option, potential visitors should exercise extreme caution, confirm all policies in detail, and consider these reported issues carefully to determine if Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground truly aligns with their expectations for a reliable and customer-friendly outdoor experience in Kentucky.

I was hoping to stay here for a trip with my wife and a friend we haven't seen for 3 yrs. This place only lets you book cabins through Air BnB. I was laid off from my job on Monday March 31st and promptly called Shelly's phone and left a message through AirBnB. The note on Air BnB says "typically replies in 30 minutes". It took an entire business day to reply. She said I had to process cancellation through Air Bnb. I reached out to them due to the extenuating circumstances. Air BnB said the cancellation policy is written by Shelly and only She could approve a 100% refund instead of the 57% I'll get back, and Air BnB confirmed the resort will get paid the 43%. UPDATE: I processed the cancellation and they only kept 50% of the accomidations (200.00 for them) and the 74.00 fee for Air Bnb. I reached out asking for grace as the money they are keeping is the equivalent of my electric and cell monthly bills and I gave them 29 day heads up. Shelly said that is was less than 30 days and they "apologize". I will never use this company or deal with their heartless staff who cannot be bothered to stick with their advertised 30 minute reply window and are the ones who actually cost 2 days worth of notification. So. Book at your own risk and hope nothing bad happens because this company and AirBnB doesn't care and they get paid. Buyer beware.

My husband tried to buy a camper here. Louise is the one that waited on him. Said she had to go out of town when she got back he would have first dibs on it. Then she wouldn’t answer any of the phone call on the business line and her cell. She then sold it out from under my husband. I wouldn’t want to take the chance on her even or this place would she take care of the camp ground like this. Don’t trust them!!! No he was told no deposit at that time she was leaving to get her daughter

Double what I pay at home in a house. 250 a month

The campground is crowded but in a pretty location. The bathroom (female) is disgusting. Large clumps of hair on the floor from the 1st day still there at the end of the next day. No hooks to hang things like a towel or toiletry bag. No place to wash dishes if you don't have a huge RV to work in. Prices are way to high for what you get.
