As a professional content writer specializing in local business SEO, it is crucial to remain factual and avoid inventing information. Based on the provided customer reviews and the nature of state park campgrounds, Oceanside Drive-In Campground does not typically offer commercial "promotions or special offers" in the retail sense (e.g., discounted rates, loyalty programs, seasonal sales).
The primary "offer" of Oceanside Drive-In Campground is its inherent value as a unique, publicly managed camping destination. The appeal lies in the rare opportunity to camp directly by the ocean, with the added wonder of wild horses, at standard state park rates. These rates are generally consistent and set by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Prospective campers should visit the official Maryland DNR website for Assateague State Park to check current reservation availability, specific fees, and any park-wide announcements or regulations. Only stayed for 1 night. I enjoyed my stay. Horses walked right past my site (site 32).
Jun 05, 2025 · Laura PBeautiful place to camp, pros and cons tho. Stayed in A18, steep sandy climb to table and fire pit. By July the sand is mostly covering the concrete pad, as it was in almost all the outside/beach side sites in the loop. If you want less sand try to stay on the inside sites of the loop. Showers are absolutely freezing, even on a very warm day. Horses frequently walked the loop, saw them multiple times from our campsite. If you need a quick breakfast, drive back up to the state park side and tell them you're just going to the restaurant and they won't charge you to get in & the food is great.
Jul 13, 2024 · Ally PaynterListening to the ocean while in the tent at night was perfect the morning sun was fantastic and the wild horses were fun to watch. My daughter and I can't wait to go back.
Mar 29, 2025 · Cityblazein SantiagoFirst time camping here and it was an amazing experience! We were immediately met with horses at our campsite and continued to see the same herd during our 3 day stay. Be prepared for cold, windy nights if you're going during cooler months. Our tent was not the best, but the campground was great.
Mar 25, 2024 · Olivia MaysCar camping here is magical. We visited here in Oct and March, and love this campsite so much that we are already planning our next camping trip! It was too windy and cold in March, but early October was perfect. Kayak and bike rentals were not available in March.. We want to do that next time we come and try out the bayside drive in campground also. The oceanside spots we stayed at, in two separate times, were 19 (loop 1) and 30 (loop 2). Both oceanside drive loops are very nice. Site 19 is very spacious but not as close to the water as site 30. It is also a further walk from the bathroom. Site 30 is smaller but it has sand dunes and plants that help block the wind and provide some nice privacy. It is also close to the bathroom but not too close to feel uncomfortable. Site 30 is also right next to the walkway to the beach. People were friendly and many other campers were in their RV/trailers. We drove through the bayside loops and felt the oceanside provided more privacy and were spaced apart better, giving the feeling of having your own little area. Bayside mostly felt like an RV park, but we checked and spotted a couple bayside spots that felt more private and will try those out next time. We prefer visiting during less popular months to avoid large crowds, bugs and the heat. We like the feeling of having the beach to ourselves. We also like company, but just not too much. Some fun activities to do include flying a kite on the beach, Easter egg hunting for the kids in your own campsite, walking the 3 short but beautiful trails, biking, crabbing, kayaking, roasting marshmallows, and more!
